[Bug 666049] Re: the search function with nautilus does not work properly with Ubuntu 10.10
When you do a search it searched in the directory you were in when you hit the search button. For example if I open nautilus and go to the /bin folder and search for skype, it will be searching for files with the word skype in the /bin folder. The search will not go into any other folder like /etc , /home , /lib. It *can* search into other folders located within /bin though. I cannot find the folders you are referring to when you say Image (1), Audio (2), Video (3), Document (10). [Bug 665865] Re: Rhythmbox imports (some) videos and plays them
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Ubuntu Release: 10.10 Rhythmbox version: 0.13.1-0ubuntu5 Hello, I have various video files in my Music folder, for instance music videos or live footage ripped from some album's bonus CD or DVD or downloaded form the Internet. To my surprise, this version of Rhythmbox imports some of them in the music library, but not all of them. In the attached screenshot you can see five FLV videos downloaded from the Internet and listed by Rhythmbox in the music library (with Unknown as Genre / Artist / Album, quite understandably). All other videos in my Music folder are not recognized. At first I suspected Rhythmbox importing videos or not was a matter of container format and/or audio-video codecs, but I have examples of files in the same format and codecs, one of them being imported but the other not, so I have no idea of a possible interpretation. Then, to my utmost surprise, Rhythmbox plays these videos! I found out that when the Visualization plug-in is enabled, Rhythmbox plays the video flawlessly in an external window (see attached screenshot) (restarting Rhythmbox seems necessary, though), and when this plug-in is disabled, Rhythmbox plays only the audio, with the position slider not working as it should, i.e. it runs quickly to the right and then stops at the end while the remaining audio is read (always at normal speed). During video playback, Rhythmbox controls work as expected (pause, previous/next, moving the slider). If the Visualization button is clicked, the external window is docked into Rhythmbox (like a visualization). If it is clicked again, the external window does not pop out, the visualization disappears but the audio keeps playing. One more quirk: if I close the video window during playback, the video that was played disappears from the music library to go in the Missing Files section, with the error Output window was closed (see attached screenshot). The next time I start Rhythmbox, these errors are gone and the videos are back in the music library. So... From perusing the bug archives, I understand that Rhythmbox, although not a video player or video library manager, has some video podcast abilities through the Visualization plug-in, so perhaps the five video files it lists are recognized as downloaded video podcasts (they are not, as far as I know)? I appreciate that Rhythmbox lists and plays them, but would be even more delighted if it listed and played all the video files in my Music folder, not just these arbitrary five. To sum it up: 1. What I expected to happen: as far as I know, Rhythmbox is not supposed to list video files in the music library, let alone play them. 2. What happened instead: Rhythmbox imported and played videos, but only some of them, and with a few quirks. Shall I run Apport? It leaves me with a choice of ill-suited options: The rhythmbox interface is not working correctly No sound is being played Some audio files are not being played correctly The Ubuntu One Music Store is not working correctly Shall I report this bug upstream? [Bug 666241] [NEW] Problem while moving screens in the monitor preferences
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center I'm under Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop in 64 bits. I already had the same problem on the 10.04. To have the bug, you necessarily need at least two screens with different resolutions. I'll explain my case, with my laptop screen (resolution of 1280x800) and my TV which have a HD resolution : 1920x1080. Steps to reproduce the bug : - connect the TV with VGA cable on my laptop - launch monitor preferences application - activate the TV - switch from left to right (or inversed) the laptop screen and the TV screen with drag and drop in the monitor preferences window. (for exemple : monitor preferences put the TV on the left by default. But in the real world, my TV is on the right of my laptop). - then there is a hole in the workspace of the bigger screen (TV in my case) and that hole seems to correspond to the bigger resolution minus the smaller one. That hole is black (it hides the wallpaper) and can't be used as workspace (this is not only a problem of hiding the wallpaper but really a piece of the workspace which is missing). To solve the problem, I then need to decrease the resolution of the TV screen. And increase it again to its real resolution (1920x1080). At that point, I have my TV screen well configured!! Pffiou... [Bug 666300] [NEW] REGRESSION: Applet reports fully-charged on boot until battery death
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager Laptop: HP Pavilion dv3505ea When booting without an AC adapter plugged in, the applet reports the battery is fully charged until the battery eventually dies without giving any notifications. [Bug 665702] Re: evolution crashes by opening calendar
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- evolution crashes by opening calendar https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/665702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 665758] Re: evolution cant see email messages
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- evolution cant see email messages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/665758 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 175233] Re: Evolution hangs with Formatting Message after several hours
Regarding the evolution-exchange angle, I should say that ever since I've stopped using the Exchange connector(*) I've never had a single incident of hanging with Formatting Message problem, on either Lucid or Maverick. (*) I've started using a personal Zimbra installation that is synced with the company's Exchange account.
