[Bug 680391] [NEW] gedit adds extra newlines when a CR/LF pair crosses a 8k boundary
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit When opening a file where a CR/LF pair occurs across an 8k boundary (i.e., the CR is on character 0x2000 * n -1 and the LF is on character 0x2000 * n), then gedit reads it as two newlines. Using standard lucid gedit: Architecture: amd64 Version: 2.30.0git20100413-0ubuntu1 The attached file is an example of this. It contains 64 characters wide CR/LF lines, and each line ending crosses a 64-byte boundary. When opening the file in gedit, Every 32rd line ending is split in two. ** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gedit adds extra newlines when a CR/LF pair crosses a 8k boundary https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/680391 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 680421] [NEW] Evolution crashes if I try to save an edited Task entry imported from Outlook 2003. Also cannot copy/paste onto New Task.

[Bug 680421] Re: Evolution crashes if I try to save an edited Task entry imported from Outlook 2003. Also cannot copy/paste onto New Task.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Also had the same issue since I upgraded to 10.10. I have since made sure I am up to date with the 1.6.4-0ubuntu1.1 version of gvfs but I still had the issue. [Bug 680483] [NEW] f-spot: Embed page setup dialog functionality in the print dialog
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: f-spot There is a possibility of embedding the paper size combo and orientation combo in the print dialog since Gtk+ 2.17.4. It is activated by calling the gtk_print_operation_set_embed_page_setup() function. It would be nice to have this feature also in f-spot, as photos do not have an absolute size. You select the print size of a photo only when you actually print it and photos are often printed on sizes which are not the standard size of the printer (4x6 inches/10x15 cm). So the page size and orientation should be easily accessable during the printing action, which means that they are best placed in the printing dialog. To implement this one only needs a small patch doing the following things: - Remove the Page Setup menu entries (and toolbar buttons) - Remove call-back functions to open the Page Setup dialog - Add call of gtk_print_operation_set_embed_page_setup() function to initialization of print dialog - Add calls to load page setup setting on print dialog initialization and save them on OK/Print/Apply in print dialog (to remember next print dialog call or even next session). [Bug 678423] [NEW] Keyboard shortcut Super+p causes entire screen to redraw
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I recently upgraded from Lucid to Maverick, and noticed a regression. I have a keyboard shortcut Mod4+p (aka Super/Windows key) bound to run the command rhythmbox-client --play-pause. I've had this shortcut since Karmic, it always worked fine. After upgrading to Maverick, the shortcut still works to play/pause Rhythmbox, but the entire screen flashes when I press it. That is, the screen appears to go entirely black and then redraw very quickly (probably less than 10ms). I'm running metacity, not compiz, but I suspect it's not a metacity bug. I have a local build of metacity in my home dir, and the bug occurs with that build as well (and this executable worked fine pre-upgrade). Digging through the keyboard shortcuts and even searching in gconf- editor, I can't find any other shortcuts bound to Superp that could be interfering. If I reassign to Mod4+r, the shortcut works and no flickering happens. It's something special about Mod4+p. uname -a: Linux crono 2.6.35-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:45:36 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux version signature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.35-generic 2.6.35.4 If it matters, the hardware is a Dell Precision M6400 with an nVidia Quadro FX 2700M video card. [Bug 162111] Re: Evince displays math equations incorrectly
This bug seems fixed in ttf-symbol-replacement for wine-1.3 from the wine ppa, but is still present with wine-1.2 from this same ppa. The wine's Symbol font overrides the original system one for the 1.2 branch, but this no longer happens for the 1.3 branch. It can be checked in e.g. Okular's File-Properties dialog, where it shows paths to all not embedded font files. [Bug 661759] Re: HP G62-a50SM battery status
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 410604 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410604 Hello Concerning this bug and bug 661768, They are fixed by updating the bios to the official bios F.35 A BUT BE AWARE, updating it to that bios (at least my model) MIGHT disable your laptop (and will make you need to replace the motherboard), as it did mine. And by disable, i mean it disabled my graphics cards, but i could still test the battery and keys which worked. Also, i found a guy on ubuntu forums with a different model but the exact same motherboard that successfully updated his bios and found the battery and the keys to be working. In customer support they told me that HP is aware of this so i'm surprised why they haven't removed the download link for the bios for the model from their site. They told me to wait for the next version of that bios which will hopefully fix this. -- HP G62-a50SM battery status https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661759 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 145354] Re: evolution - filter mailboxes for duplicates - wish
When using filters I can get incoming and outgoing emails to the appropriate folder automatically. However, Evolution insists on leaving a copy in the 'Deleted Items' folder. When I 'expunge' the Deleted Items folder all emails that have been deleted via a filter remain in the Deleted Items folder. As far as I can see what appears to be happening is:- Initially an email is brought into the main Inbox or Sent folder, then the filter applied, then the email moved to appropriate folder and finally the original in Inbox or Sent 'deleted' by sending it to the Deleted Items folder. this results in two copies on the system. One in the filtered folder, one in the Deleted Items folder. This duplication may be why it cannot be 'expunged'. This is very messy and deserves more than a 'wish list' status. It is a bug! Re: [Bug 365270] Re: Move is Copy + Thrash, should be Move that removes all traces of the first.
Who cares? I have moved to Thunderbird a long time ago, cannot use software with critical errors that is not funny to correct, and those set to maintain the source spend more time arguing semantics than getting the bug fixed. So I see Novell has been acquired, and I hope Evolution is taken off the Ubuntu distribution. A critical error is an error that renders the system worthless. [Bug 680521] [NEW] GIMP: Embed page setup dialog functionality in the print dialog
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp There is a possibility of embedding the paper size combo and orientation combo in the print dialog since Gtk+ 2.17.4. It is activated by calling the gtk_print_operation_set_embed_page_setup() function. It would be nice to have this feature also in the GIMP, as photos do not have an absolute size. [Bug 668330] Re: Only available recording speeds are maximum and 47.9x
I think I gave found out why this is the case. The output of the command wodim -prcap dev=/dev/scd1 says, amongst other things, the following: Maximum read speed: 8450 kB/s (CD 48x, DVD 6x) Current read speed: 178 kB/s (CD 1x, DVD 0x) Maximum write speed: 8450 kB/s (CD 48x, DVD 6x) Current write speed: 2 kB/s (CD 0x, DVD 0x) Rotational control selected: CLV/PCAV Buffer size in KB: 8192 Copy management revision supported: 1 Number of supported write speeds: 0 so the drive apparently supports zero write speeds. That seems to not be sufficient... for writing at least. Is it possible to tell some application, perhaps wodim, that it should ignore the above information for this particular drive, and use the info from the below link instead? It's a product specification from Samsung that says that this particular drive, SM-348B, supports the CD-R write speeds 48X 40X, 32X, 24X, 16X, and 8X. http://www.samsungodd.com/Eng/Products/Spec/spec.asp?functionvalue=viewparent_idx=4132level_idx=4250 -- Only available recording speeds are maximum and 47.9x https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668330 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Do you have WINE installed? What about ttf-mscorefonts? I have neither installed. Something is causing fontconfig to choose a different symbol font on your system than on my system. To see the full details of the file being used type fc-match --verbose Symbol|grep file I get: file: /usr/share/fonts/X11/Type1/Symbol.pfb(s) -- Evince frequently replaces pi glyphs with not equal to and other substitutions. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to poppler in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 680549] [NEW] evince-thumbnailer hanged with 50% CPU time
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Hello, These days I found that Ubuntu (10.10) react slowly after the network meetings, in which I usually open several PDF files (slides) with acroread (not inside Firefox, since I still got problem there, as reported before: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acroread/+bug/298159) With top or System monitoring I can see that the evince-thumbnailer is on the top, and always with about 50% CPU time. With strace -p it seems it is in a loop, infinite? Since I already closed acroread. I don't know whether there is a solution. I found another report, which should be fixed already: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/384062 Thanks a lot. clone(child_stack=0, flags=CLONE_CHILD_CLEARTID|CLONE_CHILD_SETTID|SIGCHLD, child_tidptr=0x7f339c42abb0) = 17141 close(8)= 0 close(10) = 0 close(11) = 0 read(9, , 1024) = 0 close(9)= 0 wait4(-1, NULL, 0, NULL)= 17141 --- SIGCHLD (Child exited) @ 0 (0) --- open(/usr/share/texmf-texlive/fonts/type1/public/amsfonts/cm/cmr10.pfb, O_RDONLY) = 8 close(8)= 0 access(./gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/courier/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/helvetic/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/palatino/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/ibm/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/ibm/universa/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(./gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/courier/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/helvetic/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/palatino/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/ibm/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/ibm/universa/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) write(2, \nkpathsea: Running, 18) = 18 write(2, mktextfm, 9)= 9 write(2, gbkfs50, 8) = 8 write(2, \n, 1) = 1 open(/dev/null, O_RDONLY) = 8 pipe([9, 10]) = 0 open(/dev/null, O_WRONLY) = 11 clone(child_stack=0, flags=CLONE_CHILD_CLEARTID|CLONE_CHILD_SETTID|SIGCHLD, child_tidptr=0x7f339c42abb0) = 17142 close(8)= 0 close(10) = 0 close(11) = 0 read(9, , 1024) = 0 close(9)= 0 wait4(-1, NULL, 0, NULL)= 17142 --- SIGCHLD (Child exited) @ 0 (0) --- open(/usr/share/texmf-texlive/fonts/type1/public/amsfonts/cm/cmr10.pfb, O_RDONLY) = 8 close(8)= 0 access(./gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/courier/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/helvetic/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/palatino/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/ibm/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/ibm/universa/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(./gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) access(/home/he/.texmf-var/fonts/tfm/adobe/courier/gbkfs50.tfm, R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
[Bug 603833] Re: default folder/file handler is improperly set from 'open with other application' menu
I had the same problem today, I opened a directory with vlc through the Open with other Application and I forgot to uncheck the Remember this application for 'folder' files option.. well it took me a while to understand why everytime I tried to open a directory in the Places menu it just opened vlc.. +1 to not enabling that option by default. Or at least, for folders it should give the option Remember this application for THIS folder. -- default folder/file handler is improperly set from 'open with other application' menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/603833 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
