I have several USB devices (cameras, phones, ipod, usb-hdd with many partitions, some of them ext4, some fat32) connected and I connect/disconnect them occasionally, some of them using sudo. This command sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts solved the problem. Some PDF-s, including the one I have sent, were depending on fonts that I didn't have installed on my system. And whoever created the PDF didn't include font inside the PDF. Was fixed, now broken again. Doesn't show contacts. Definitely broken when adding contacts to a new email, seems to break the whole contact system.
