** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools The Users Settings application or the Login Screen used to (perhaps in Jaunty) have an option to set whether or not a user would appear in the face browser. There is no longer any obvious way to do this. One may have a computer with multiple users, but only one of whom really needs to login via gdm (the others being purely ssh users), and as they do not need to be on the face browser list, having them there makes login for the other users (or single user in my case) more difficult. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: file-roller PROBLEM If a file or a folder has a % in its name, the File Roller archive manager (how is one supposed to refer to it and how does one find out?) will not add it to an archive. Moreover, it will not give any feedback that the file has not been added. HOW TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a file or folder named %. 2. Right-click % and select Compress. OR 2. Select a number of files and folders, including %. 3. Right-click on these files and folders and select Compress. OR 2. Use the archive manager to create a new archive. 3. Click on Add Files. 4. Select %. In none of these use cases will % be part of the archive, nor will the archive manager report that it could not be added (for whatever reason). In the second use case, the archive will be created as normal and will include all the other files and folders, but % will not be a part of the archive (nor will there be any feedback to the user indicating that this is the case). EXPECTED BEHAVIOR Files and folders with special characters in their names will be compressable using Nautilus' right-click menu. Failing that, the archive manager will (at a minimum) inform the user that it is not possible to compress them. Binary package hint: evince
ganglia-monitor installs gmond perfectly fine. the only issue is there
is a gmond module modpython.so that isn't loaded with the default
distributed gmond.conf. I had to add the following snippet to get it
working:

running sudo gmond -c /etc/ganglia/gmond.conf -d3 confirms that the
python module loads perfectly.
The alternative is to have this snippet be placed in

[Bug 694227] [NEW] gdm doesn't accept a return to select highlighted user
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm Somewhere between Maverick and Natty the behaviour of gdm appears to have changed, in that since I only have one user, I used to just be able to hit the return key and then my password and it would log me in. Now, the return at that point doesn't seem to do anything and I have to use the mouse to select the user. Since a large fraction of the userbase only have one user, it does seem annoying to force them to have to mouse it.
