[Bug 694904] Re: need to create a login acct
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! ** Changed in: file-roller (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/694904 Title: need to create a login acct -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 667071] Re: archive manager
Hi, The workaround in (10) didn't work for me. The other observation is that xdg-open / triggers the same problem. (Which makes me wonder if it's related to the breakage in bug 670128) But xdg-open is calling gvfs-open, and gvfs-open /triggers the same I can see that gvfs-open has read /usr/share/applications/exo-file-manager.desktop and that tells it to run exo-open --launch FileManager filename (that's from exo-utils, part of xfce) If I run exo-preferred-applications I can see that File Manager is set to evince (!); if I flick that to Nautilus it opens. (Although leaves a straggling window saying it's opening it even though it did). Has everyone else who has this problem also got exo-utils installed? I would have thought that we'd want xfce stuff to co-exist with a gnome desktop without getting in eachothers way. [Bug 504440] Re: sd card safely remove drive kills reader device
Although Won't Fix may be right for the bug against gvfs, there is a bug here which really, really needs fixing. Steps to reproduce on my machine: 1. Boot to desktop and log in. 2. Insert a memory card and wait for the icon to appear on desktop. 3. Select Safely Remove Drive in the contextual menu. After step 3, the built-in 7-in-1 memory-card reader on my Dell inspiron is unusable without a reboot. To the end-user, there is no difference between a disk and a drive and a whatever. So the user (me) will choose Safely Remove Drive just as often as Eject. Indeed, the added word Safely makes it seem like the better option. I think the bug is that the option Safely Remove Drive appears at all. For example, with my built-in CD drive, the option Safely Remove Drive does not appear: only Eject. For other built-in drives with removable media, the menu should be the same (although the word Eject is a bit awkward.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/504440 Title: sd card safely remove drive kills reader device -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 695053] [NEW] drastic color scheme for battery mode
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager The indicator applet for the power management displays the status of my battery as red. The red icon with a fill level of about nothing left is suitable to imply the imminent demise of my laptop's battery. A closer look at the status reveals: A whopping 1h 10 minutes of runtime left (see screenshot). So WTF is the icon red when there's really a quite a lot of time left? [Bug 558674] Re: Open file dialog malfunctions in lucid
I am using Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 and also have this file dialog select problem. I see that the status is Fix Released, but I don't understand what that means. I have been updating my Ubuntu Lucid distro. Doesn't that mean that I should have gotten this 'fix' and then I shouldn't have this problem? Or does Fix Released mean that the fix is only for Maverick? Or that this gtk+ fix is for Lucid, but just hasn't made it into the Ubuntu repositories yet? Eithe way is there a way to manually install this 'fix?' It is an annoying bug and I would like to benefit from the fix. Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/558674 Title: Open file dialog malfunctions in lucid -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 23810] Re: Evolution is unusable in 1024x768
I don't understand either why the priority of this bug is that low. Is it because the bug does not cause any crash or unexpected behaviour? Is that the policy or what else is the reason? I think this is A BUG IN USABILITY, that affects many users. There are still many people with a vertical resolution = 768 pixels (also new laptop with wide screens). I know how to move a window without having to drag it via its title bar, but many people don't and it isn't very obvious how to do this. And even if many people knew how to do it, then still this is a bug. This is simply poor user interface design. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/23810 Title: Evolution is unusable in 1024x768 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 649809] Re: Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly
Also affected with a Core i7, an SSD and an Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 (proprietary driver). The workaround in comment #68 (sleep) fixes it for me too.
