[Bug 580112] Re: gnome-disk-utility doesn't detect SMART data on T60p
Can you please send the output of udisks --show-info /dev/sda in particular the SMART bits? If that says unknown, can you please try udisks --ata-smart-refresh then wait some seconds, and use --show-info again? If it still says unknown, but has smart data, please do sudo skdump --save=/tmp/smart.blob /dev/sda and attach /tmp/smart.blob here. You have been subscribed to a public bug: [This is copied from https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=325767 so that it can be linked to a blueprint.] Currently the font_name field in the gtkrc file is the only way to change fonts and it only allows an absolute change. If a user wants to use a smaller font for certain widgets or if an application tries to provide a gtkrc file that results in a more compact dialog layout, it would be a lot nicer if the font could be specified relative to the desktop-wide configured font. Re: [Cairo-dock-team] [Bug 437378] Re: Some flashes appears when a window is resized
hmm, I think we were talking of a different bug ^^ I was talking about the flickering we get when a window is move_resized (this is a very brief flicker, and is most probably due to a bad refresh of the window from the WM, the old window's content being drawn on the larger window). It's much harder to get this bug now, because I have reduced the number of resizing to the minimum (that's why this bug is marked as fixed for us). The bug you're talking about is different: it's clearly a miscalculation of the icons positions when an icon is being removed, and it last few seconds (the time the icon is decreasing to 0), and under any WM (Compiz included). Actually this is a known bug (and it probably has its own bug report already), so sorry I didn't understand correctly :-) The flickering in Metacity is still a real bug afaik, but then I don't think it affects KWin, so I'm going to remove them. 2011/1/5 Bellegarde Cedric gnu...@gmail.com Same bug on icon creation: dock move on right and then resize/move on left... http://adishatz.1s.fr/~gnumdk/cairo-dock/0157.pnghttp://adishatz.1s.fr/%7Egnumdk/cairo-dock/0157.png http://adishatz.1s.fr/~gnumdk/cairo-dock/0184.pnghttp://adishatz.1s.fr/%7Egnumdk/cairo-dock/0184.png You will see bug on close (without gdk_window_move_resize()): - 157 = Konsole closing, dock resizing - 184 = dock have move on left -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Cairo- Dock Team, which is subscribed to Cairo-Dock Core. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437378 Title: Some flashes appears when a window is resized Status in Cairo-Dock : Core: Fix Released Status in KDE Base Components: Unknown Status in The Metacity Window Manager: New Status in “metacity” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Binary package hint: metacity Hello, I'm part of the Cairo-Dock team. [Bug 693337] Re: Menus for choosing language should have one option per available translation
* Would this be a suitable approach for determining available languages for message translation? My first reaction to that was but what if I actually want the Swiss German variant?. While it's unusual, we can in theory have e. g. Swiss or Austrian specific German translations. But on second thought, this solves it: * Is listing the /usr/share/locale-langpack directory a safe way to find available translations, or is there more into it? This is actually a very nice idea. As long as we don't actually have actual country specific variants of a language (like de), it wouldn't show them at all, but it would retain the country specific variants that we really need (such as en_GB or pt_BR). The only problem here is that /usr/share/locale-langpack/ is an Ubuntuism and not compatible with any other distribution or upstream, but that boat already left a while ago anyway :-) So this isn't a blocker. * As regards languages with more than one translation: When the country is not specified, does it matter which of the locales that is assigned to the LC_MESSAGES environment variable? No, it doesn't for messages. It is relevant for $LANG and other LC_* categories, of course. I guess for the actual implementation in l-s and gdm we don't need to parse /usr/share/xml/iso-codes/, as these already have the translated names of the locales? [Bug 697760] [NEW] At the login screen, you can not click without having moved the cursor
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu 10.10 (but I recall that this bug existed in 10.04 and possibly earlier). Once you reach the login page, and if you have a single user, the cursor is located centrally, above the area you need to click in order to open the password entry box. If you do not move the mouse at all, but just click, the password entry box does not appear. The password entry box only appears if you first move the mouse (even a single pixel is sufficient), and then click on the box. Admittedly this is only a minor annoyance, but why should the user be forced to move the mouse (even if it is only a single pixel), in order to interact with a button that the cursor is already over? [Bug 698109] [NEW] Nautilus froze
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus This problem occured within a day of performing a clean install of Ubuntu 10.10. 1) Ubuntu Release 10.10 2) Nautilus version: 1:2.32.0-0ubuntu1.1 3) What expected to happen: I was just moving a few folders around. I expected this to proceed as usual. There were a few things going on simultaneously. Nautilus had three tabs open. Gedit was open in my second workspace area. I was doing some file copying In my fourth workspace: 20Gb of files were being copied from an external HD using NTFS, over USB to my local ext4 HD. The process was occasionally being interrupted with filenames that were too long. 4) Nautilus in the first workspace froze. A folder was selected in its frozen state. I cannot deselect the folder nor select another folder. Neither can I select another tab or the Nautilus menu or toolbars. Please note, however, that Nautilus did not report an Error. It just froze. Please note also that my 20Gb copy in Workspace 4 was not interrupted. It carried on just fine. I have reported this as a separate bug as well as adding it as a comment at this similar RESOLVED bug #428564. I did this so that my Apport data could be filed. [Bug 698109] Re: Nautilus froze
I've narrowed this down to the nub. The specific bug as can thus far be certain: Nautilus freezes when separate File Operation interrupted with Error caused by over-long filename. To recap: I have Nautilus running in Ubuntu Workspace 1. I have a large File Operation running in Workspace 4. When the File Operation in Workspace 4 is interrupted with an error such as File name too long, my instance of Nautilus in Workspace 1 freezes. When I clear the File Operation error in Workspace 4, Nautilus becomes operative again in Workspace 1. Perhaps it is normal behaviour for a File Operation error message to prevent other actions. But I can use other programs while the FO Error is waiting for my attention in Workspace 4. I can, for example, use Firefox and Update Manager or run a terminal. I just can't use the Nautilus window I already had open. Note that I can open a new Nautilus window while the FO Error is waiting my attention. But once the new Nautilus Window has opened I am unable to use it. Neither can I close it. If, however, I tell the File Operation Error dialogue in Workspace 4 to [Skip], Nautilus starts working again in Workspace 1. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/698109 Title: Nautilus froze -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

On 01/06/2011 07:55 PM, Martin Pitt wrote: * Would this be a suitable approach for determining available languages for message translation? My first reaction to that was but what if I actually want the Swiss German variant?. While it's unusual, we can in theory have e. g. Swiss or Austrian specific German translations. But on second thought, this solves it: It wouldn't be unusual if the German translation team didn't decide to unify those variants into Standard German. Swiss German has a different grammar usage than in Germany, at least. (Gnucash for example has de_CH translations, but that's in universe.) * Is listing the /usr/share/locale-langpack directory a safe way to find available translations, or is there more into it? This is actually a very nice idea. As long as we don't actually have actual country specific variants of a language (like de), it wouldn't show them at all, but it would retain the country specific variants that we really need (such as en_GB or pt_BR). The only problem here is that /usr/share/locale-langpack/ is an Ubuntuism and not compatible with any other distribution or upstream, but that boat already left a while ago anyway :-) So this isn't a blocker. What about /usr/share/locale/ ? That's at least where universe software puts its translations. And there you may even find de_DE and en_US folders... Therefor always put ll_CC codes first in the LANGUAGE variable string, followed by the country-less fallback, i.e. de_DE:de ! There is code for this in l-s. * As regards languages with more than one translation: When the country is not specified, does it matter which of the locales that is assigned to the LC_MESSAGES environment variable? I am able to open, play back, and rip the contents of the Audio CDs with Windows Media Player with no issues. [Bug 147045] Re: gnome-appearance-properties hogs processor even after close
Ubuntu 10.04 I've caught this bug. this - https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control- center/+bug/147045/comments/15 solves the problem. Here is the content of my .gtkrc-2.0 # -- THEME AUTO-WRITTEN DO NOT EDIT include /usr/share/themes/Glossy/gtk-2.0/gtkrc include /home/connie/.gtkrc.mine # -- THEME AUTO-WRITTEN DO NOT EDIT after clearing this file gnome-appearance-properties closes and frees resources. Otherwise it eats CPU. This happen on two of three user accounts on my home comp. The content of the .gtkrs-2.0 the same. On the third account there is no .gtkrc-2.0 and g-a-p works normal. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147045 Title: gnome-appearance-properties hogs processor even after close -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
