[Bug 29622]
Even in Windows where there is a facility to set margins using File-Page Setup you can only set the page margins. Not the header and footer margins. I have also looked at prefs. on both systems. The options there are print_margin_bottom print_margin_left print_margin_right print_margin_top These settings are page margins and can be varied to suit individual printers. That begs the question, why are these settings easily available via the GUI File-Page Setup in Windows as well as via about.config and only in about.config in Linux/Mac? Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. [Bug 131885] Re: Backlight no longer under my control on battery
This has been reproducible on both my EEE PC 900 and 1005 all the way until 10.10. To recap, with the default screen settings, I get the following behavior: 1. Adjust the backlight to the lowest setting. 2. Read on the screen for a bit (maybe a minute) without moving the pointer or typing. 3. Notice a small increase in lighting level without any user input. 4. At this point, upon moving the pointer or typing the backlight goes back to 100%. Points 3 and 4 should not happen. If GNOME is set to reduce the backlight when idle, it should obviously not *increase* it. [Bug 713807] Re: Can't see where ripped music is saved
If I do not konw the name of the song, it makes it very difficult to find it in the Rhythmbox listing. If I rip a disk that has a fingerprint that is not recognized so no metadata is retrieved, it becomes very difficult to find what was ripped. Normally, I'd gor to the directory and search by date. [Bug 658590] Re: Rhythmbox will not minimize to sound-indicator if music is not playing
Sebastien, I'd like to point out that, as I said in comment #3, even if we sidestep the question regarding the sanity of the specification itself, it's definitely a bug that the Rhythmbox package in Ubuntu currently implements the specification only partially, leading to inconsistent behaviour. The package does implement the part about exiting if the window is closed while not playing, but does not implement the part about maintaining state across sessions. I'm inclined to believe that the latter part was added to the specification exactly because it would otherwise severely disrupt the consistency of behaviour and the user's flow. See comment #3 for a real-world scenario; I can give more if you're not convinced. I argue that, as far as any single application goes, the specification should only be implemented either fully or not at all. This particularly applies to a high-prevalence application such as Rhythmbox. If you consider this particular one not to be a bug, should we instead open a new one for the Rhythmbox in Ubuntu not implementing the specification fully? In relation to that, what's your understanding of how this inconsistency is going to be solved in the future? Is it just going to go away by itself in a future transition to Gnome 3? Or is the specification going to be fully implemented by Rhythmbox in Natty, thus perhaps making the behaviour consistent? Is that a realistic goal, seeing that Rhythmbox itself does little or nothing to implement full preservation of state? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658590 Title: Rhythmbox will not minimize to sound-indicator if music is not playing -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 709935] Re: File MGR is very slow on any type fs
More testing. On U 9.04 with Nautilius 2.0.4 I do not experience any of the hangs. With other file managers on U 10.10 I do not experience any of the hangs. With N 2.32.0 I do get the hangs. They are delays after changing directory contents and navigating up the tree with thumbnails on. Is there an issue with the NTFS driver, or is the performance hit confined to a recent up grade? When I first installed U 10.10 I did not experience this. I think that I need to go ask the community about how to deinstall N 2.23.0 and try the version shipped with the original Distro. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/709935 Title: File MGR is very slow on any type fs -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
