[Bug 574815] Re: clock 2.30.0 on ubuntu 10.04 amd64 does not update; times on locations do.

2011-03-12 Thread calinb
Update: I've discovered that this bug seems to be associated with Unity
in 10.10 Netbook Edition on my computer so I'll just use Gnome. As much
as I like Unity, it seems to be buggy (the Unity launcher also ignores
clicks sometimes). Or maybe I'll install Xfce. I've like it in the
past.

 Bug description:
   Binary package hint: gnome-doc-utils

I have recently been attempting to export the documentation (created using
Mallard) of a project on which I have been working to html using
gnome-doc-utils but gnome-doc-tools consistently fails to convert the .page
 files, producing the following error:
   gnome-doc-tool: 1: Bad substitution
   and others leading from it.

This is due to gnome-doc-tool's urlencode and urldecode function
making use of a feature specific to the bash shell (c=${arg:$i:1}) to
select a character from a string whereas the script's shell is
specified as /bin/sh. I have attached a patch which replaces all
instances of this by using the standard Unix cut utility which should
   completely fix this issue.

[Bug 733866] [NEW] Battery indicator shows Laptop battery is charged when is not

2011-03-12 Thread Miguel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

When I have the laptop plugged to the AC power, the battery indicator
shows me the real value of percentage of my battery level.

Nonetheless, when I unplug the AC power and use the battery of the
laptop, the battery indicator tells me that the laptop battery is
charged even though it is not fully charged. It happens always, till
the laptop shuts down because there is no battery left.

In other words, the battery indicator works fine with AC power but it
does not when working with the battery of the laptop.

I am using ubuntu 11.04 alpha 3 (64 bits) with an HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop.

[Bug 733882] [NEW] Several packages are named exactly the same

2011-03-12 Thread Tom Adams
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

This is an off-shoot of bug #733669.

When using unity-place-applications, unlike the Ubuntu Software Center,
you can search for Terminal and there are 3 applications all called
Terminal with no way to differentiate apart from the icons. In version
0.2.38, it also shows uninstalled applications from the Software Center
making the problem worse.

The proposal is that all applications named exactly the same (gnome-
terminal, vala-terminal, and terminal.app) should have their names
changed. Or at least the two Terminals that aren't installed by default.

[Bug 732900] Re: Empathy doesn't receive instant messages from contacts (MSN)

2011-03-12 Thread Captain Chaos
I can confirm this. Both on 32-bit and 64-bit Maverick Meerkat, MSN
support in Empathy seems to be completely broken. My contacts don't
receive my messages (without any indication from Empathy that something
went wrong), and I don't receive messages from my contacts.

I recommend everyone to just use Pidgin instead of Empathy. It's faster,
has fewer bugs, and bugs that do occur get fixed much more quickly.

I have attached my butterfly debug log. which includes an attempted the
send the message ping to roel.p.schm...@gmail.com at 17:03:26.

[Bug 546785] Re: Changing keyboard layout in control-center should update default gdm layout in .dmrc

2011-03-12 Thread Marcelo Escobal
You should think the case of a user with international US keyboard in
his notebook that occasionally attaches an external keyboard with
different language. When I change my keyboard setting within Gnome, it
keeps returning (randomly?) to GDM configuration. That's not the
behaviour I expect. Sometimes I use KDE and it keeps my setting through
the entire session.

[Bug 725700] Re: e-addressbook-factory crashed with SIGSEGV in dbus_message_get_reply_serial()

2011-03-12 Thread Curtis Hovey
After a recent fix to counchdb, I can now see the contact db in my
browser. All the data is there and it is syncing. This looks like e
-addressbook-factory does not want to talk to couchdb or it is very
confused by the db's content.

I suspect the later, case. I have used evolution as my addressbook for
10 years. There could be some oddness left over from older version. My
contacts first got to Ubuntu One from another computer running a clean
version of evolution with an import of my address book.

[Bug 725700] Re: e-addressbook-factory crashed with SIGSEGV in dbus_message_get_reply_serial()

2011-03-12 Thread Chad A. Davis
My environment was not inherited from a previous version of Ubuntu. I am
on Natty, development branch (up to date as of 2011-03-12). I am logged
in to U1 but have no contacts in U1 nor in Evolution (apart from my
self-contact, which was automatically added to the local address book).
I started evolution for the first time, setup a Gmail account, testing
sending and receiving, which worked. Then I switch to Contacts from
within Evolution when I see:

Unable to open address book

This address book cannot be opened. This either means that an incorrect
URI was entered, or the server is unreachable.

Detailed error message: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply:
Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)

The error is repeatable and happens each time I select the U1 CouchDB
contacts.

[Bug 715476] Re: Battery statistics are not correct.

2011-03-12 Thread Andreas Waigel
I discovered problems on my Lenovo X201 (Ubuntu 10.10, i386-PAE) after suspend
mode using gnome-power-statistics. gnome-power-statistics then reports wrong
battery data (e.g. capacity is reported 10 times bigger than it is). I'm not
sure wether this is the same issue we're talking about
Rebooting the system solves the problem until you're using suspend mode again.

[Bug 734095] [NEW] Messenger automatically resets itself

2011-03-12 Thread Aspie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

On this computer only, everytime I turn on the computer, I have to add
my Messengers like AIM (which is the only one I use). Then a keyring
comes up asking for a password. No password for this computer works.

On my laptop, I do not have this problem. The only difference is, is
that I enter a password to get into the OS on mine. But I'm pretty sure
it worked before when I didn't have a login password set for the OS.

[Bug 734102] [NEW] Classic Desktop-Default Theme Applied After Every Boot-Unable To Change Theme

2011-03-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When running Ubuntu 11.04 64bit Alpha 3 using Ubuntu Classic Desktop
option at login screen, the default desktop theme is automatically
applied no matter which desktop theme is selected by the user. After
about 20 seconds after logging into OS, the user selected desktop theme
is changed to the default desktop theme. This is easily reproducible.
Don't see a work-around at this point and hope it is fixed before the
Beta 1 is released...

[Bug 286218] Re: View mode changes to Best Fit by itself when clicking on items in Index.

2011-03-12 Thread Sean
Yes, this is maddening behavior, please fix this... it's a deal breaker
for this app use. Ubuntu 10.10 for me as well.

I was looking through the same bug reports dating back at least 5 years
(Ubuntu 7.04, 2006). One of the explanations is that part of the PDF
spec allows the author to set the default zoom level for each section.
IMO there is no reason an author zoom level should override reader
preference, because reader preference is what allows the reader to see
the text. Honestly it's really difficult to read the text at a Best
Fit level (i.e., Whole Page), if that's what the PDF is set to,
rendering the reader less than helpful to a reader.

[Bug 713516] Re: Empathy won't keep group information.

2011-03-12 Thread gaddman
I'm also finding this. To reproduce:
1. Open chat (contact list)
2. Edit a Skype contact and add to a new group (and remove from Skype group)
3. Quit chat and reopen
4. Contact is in Skype group only; newly created group has gone

If I turn on groups in Skype I can see that the contact has been added
to the new group, but this doesn't show in Empathy.

[Bug 734095] Re: Messenger automatically resets itself

2011-03-12 Thread Geoff McClinsey
When you setup the AIM account threw empathy it is trying to store the login
credentials in the
Gnome Keyring. Because you are not inputing the proper password it is not
saving the data.
Therefore the next time you log into empathy your aim account is not available.

This is not a bug. This is expected behavior.

Converting to a question: How do I change gnome keyring password

** Changed in: empathy (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Invalid

** Converted to question:
