[Bug 427168] Re: usb keyboard settings (repeat rate and delay) reset on plugin

2011-03-15 Thread Steffen Neumann
Sebastian: right, I was able to confirm that the update 2.6.32-29 - 2.6.32-30
causes the problem.
I opened #735294 for that.

Yours,
Steffen

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see

2011-03-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

Have you tried the Edit menu? The default keyboard shortcuts in gnome-
terminal are Shift+Ctrl+C for copy and Shift+Ctrl+V for paste. Ctrl+C is
traditionally used as the command to stop a running process on the
command line so the normal Ctrl+C is not used by default for copying
text.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. We'd be grateful if you
would provide a more complete description of the problem.

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Hello
Well, the workaround is easy, but if i'm a normal user not necessarily i've to
know that i've to press Alt + mouse to move a window over the desktop limit, so
i cannot configure evolution because the forward button is below the lower
desktop limit.
I think that this is a serious usability bug, in particular with netbook screen.

[Bug 735396] [NEW] Error starting job: Failed to fork (Cannot allocate memory)

2011-03-15 Thread MrPok
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility

I tried to delete the partition of an old usb stick (64Mb!), because I wanted
to try out the Benchmark test of Disk Utility.
(The usb pen drive is some sort of thing to get wireless internet on a laptop,
so perhaps it is some hardware problem)
However, when I try to delete the partition I get a screen saying:

Error deleting partion
An error occurred while performing an operation on USB064Mb (Partition 1 of
USB2.0 FlashDisk): The operation failed
Details
Error starting job: Failed to fork (Cannot allocate memory)

The entire systems gets a bit laggy..

*Then after a while (when I am filling in this bug report!) I try to delete the
partition again, and this time: no error message and the partition seems to be
deleted Weird..
**Now, I tried to run the Read/Write benchmark. However, I again get an error,
this time:

Error benchmarking drive
An error occurred while performing on operation on USB2.0 FlashDisk (USB2.0
FlashDisk): The operation failed
Details
A partition table was detected - write benchmarking requires the disk to be
completely empty

***Again, while I am typing this: I try the Read-Only Benchmark -- and this
works fine..
Can it be that something on the drive is blocking attempts to write data
to it?

I don't understand the fork error and the read/write issue...

Please advice if you need more info: I am fairly new to reporting bugs
(this way).

Steps to reproduce:

Create a cups printer (ipp here) that supports different output resolutions.
Make the finest resolution the default. Then open a pdf using evince and try to
print it.
Expected result: Finest resolution gets selected in printing dialog.
Observed result: Lowest resolution gets selected.

Thank you for the work and sorry for the delay, if you have patches to
get reviewed feel free to subscribe ubuntu-sponsors, the issue seems to
still be in gnome-media 2.32 git and in the current gnome-control-center
git (where the capplet got move for GNOME3), where did you see it's
fixed upstream? Did you open a bug about it?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
 Ubuntu better.

Have you tried the Edit menu? The default keyboard shortcuts in gnome-
terminal are Shift+Ctrl+C for copy and Shift+Ctrl+V for paste. Ctrl+C is
traditionally used as the command to stop a running process on the
command line so the normal Ctrl+C is not used by default for copying
 text.

 ** Changed in: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu)
 Status: New = Incomplete

I made a mistake for Natty under VirtualBox-4.0 (the copy was between a
virtualized Natty terminal and a Maverick application), copy and paste
works.
The only problem is with shortcuts as Ctl+D to quit terminal or Ctl+Z to
stp a ping or Ctl+X to exit from nano.

Sincerely
