[Bug 738015] [NEW] unplayable opening splash screen stays foreground

[Bug 436936] Re: gdm upstart job checks /proc/cmdline for single user mode, won't start on post-boot runlevel change
Ah, disregard that last comment. I ended up here due to James Hunt's request for testing at bug 735805 and I'd not taken time to read the history of this bug. Regarding Natty only, using the 'gdm.conf' provided by James Hunt in post #20 telinit 2 from a recovery shell does start gdm. Using the officially packaged gdm.conf (currently gdm (2.32.0-0ubuntu12) natty) telinit 2 from a recovery shell does NOT start gdm. Indeed selecting the Resume button does not work with either. The kernel change is not a fix for the real problem. All the kernel patch above does is correctly identify the correct storage capacity (and not spit out error messages as it attempts to access beyond the end of the device). The real problem is that the identification of the partition fails due to the number of heads not being set in the FAT superblock (see #15). I don't seem to be able to change the status. [Bug 738257] [NEW] gnome-power-manager detects Lenovo T410 Energy when Full incorrectly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager I have a Lenovo T410 laptop running 64-bit Maverick Meerkat. My gnome-power-manager package version is 2.32.0-0ubuntu1 The battery state displays incorrectly when the computer is not plugged in - with a fresh charge the battery state on a new battery, you would want the battery state indicator to happily display that the battery is fully charged. Instead it comes up as 10% and the indicator is red. It does however give you the correct number of hours. I looked into the stats and the problem is that gnome-power-manager incorrectly thinks my battery's energy when full is 518.1 Wh when really it is only 51.81. All the other stats are correctly recognized - such as energy (design), energy, energy when empty. It is a bug in this package because GKrellM System Monitor handles this correctly and also Windows does when I boot into it on the rear occasion. [Bug 631088] Re: Incompatibilty with Windows font Deja Vu Sans 9.9990234375 makes evince menu unreadable
Hi Olivier, Your question made me think about something : I have a dual boot, the windows partition is mounted under linux Then to access to Windows fonts I simply have made an ln -s from Windows/Fonts/* directory into ~/.fonts followed by an fc-cache to update cached informations Everything works with it, I can use these fonts within my desktop apparence so as into OOo Just before writing this comment I put a real copy of a ttf font (the one I'm using in most of the elements of my current theme) into my ~/.fonts and then, surprise ! Evince menus are now readable So it seems that pango is not able to follow symlinks. Really annoying in my case because my homedir is mounted from an NFS share. I simply cannot think about copying 350Mo of fonts into my homedir. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to pango1.0 in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/631088 Title: Incompatibilty with Windows font Deja Vu Sans 9.9990234375 makes evince menu unreadable -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
