[Bug 401823] Re: Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead
I am using 3.6.13 version of Firefox along with Adobe Flash player version 10.0 in Ubuntu 10.04. I am getting this error. (unknown:1716): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead I tried upgrading my Firefox version to 3.7 once but I found it was not at all a stable version and crashed multiple times. so now I decided to use this version which is performing well except above warnings. someone above has suggested to use latest Macromedia flash player. http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplatformruntimes/flashplayer10-3/flashplayer10-3_b1_lin_030811.tar.gz I downloaded this file. It is a tar file. I extracted it. Inside it, there is a file like *.so and one folder. kindly let me know how to install that. I am having multiple users in Linux. so I would want to install it in such a way that all the other users also can use the same flash player. kindly let me know the steps. if .deb kind of file exists for this flash player, then kindly give me the link. Installing that is much easier and safer. [Bug 644644] Re: Frequent PA crashes during playback - pa_stream_cork() failed: Connection terminated and pa_stream_writable_size(): Connection failed
** Description changed: + * + SRU Justification + * + + Justification: This is a medium-to-high impact bug as PulseAudio crashes, causing non-working playback and recording. It is especially troublesome for machines with low CPU power (e g Intel Atom based machines). + Regression risk: Low - the patches are both in Natty and upstream since 2-3 months back and no regressions have been reported. + Howto: please apply the maverisk-sru.debdiff patch to gst-plugins-good-0.10. + Test: on a troublesome machine - pulseaudio won't crash anymore after this patch has been applied. To verify that PulseAudio is crashing for the same reason as this patch fixes, take a PulseAudio verbose log (according to http://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log ) - in this crashing scenario, the log is filled with extreme amounts of Processing Rewind messages. + + * + Binary package hint: pulseaudio With the recent kernel and pa upgrades in Maverick I am seeing very frequent crashes in Totem trying to play back audio as well as video. [Bug 740765] Re: nautilus crash: assertion failed: (NAUTILUS_IS_VIEW (view))
I don't think its' related to the actual change in 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu9, this merely seems coincidental to me. I can't see how this patch update could ever cause this assertion failure. This crashes in nautilus_window_disconnect_content_view(), in g_assert (NAUTILUS_IS_VIEW (view)); the passed view is not NULL, but apparently it is invalid. Unfortunately it is the only place in the stack trace whic exposes view. Does anyone happen to have a recipe how this can reliably be reproduced? [Bug 747175] [NEW] GDM prevents login since 2.32.0-0ubuntu13 or 14
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm (sorry for not providing the usual Apport atttachments, but seeing how I cannot log into the affected host...) Since this morning, I can no longer log into my development laptop running Natty. GDM's greeter log says something about display :0 being temporarily unaccessible, even though GDM obviously runs off it. Looking at the changelog, the only thing that might cause this behavior is the patch to ignore some system UID in the face browser. My own user runs as UID 1000, so it shouldn't be affected, however, it is a member of e.g. groups 'sudo' and 'adm' which might be a factor. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/747175 Title: GDM prevents login since 2.32.0-0ubuntu13 or 14 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

This bug is active again in rhythmbox 13.3 . It looks like it was fixed here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=508537 by adding: } else if (strcmp (entry_mime, audio/x-m4a) == 0) { entry_mime = audio/aac; to sources/rb-removable-media-source.c I think the code for determining the entry mime has moved to backends/gstreamer/rb-encoder-gst.c and entry_mime is now entry_media_type . [Bug 747175] Re: GDM prevents login since 2.32.0-0ubuntu13 or 14
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 649809] Re: the session settings manager can try starting before the login screen one exits
mb21, I assume you are really running the package with the patch applied, right? Can you double-check? If so, can you please run: # echo sleep 5 /etc/X11/Xsession.d/50slowdownthere as root and see if that fixes the problem? If so, maybe we would need a bigger number of retries for very slow machines (like a virtual machine), but this is confusing, since the problem was really on fast machines. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/649809 Title: the session settings manager can try starting before the login screen one exits -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 649809] Re: the session settings manager can try starting before the login screen one exits
Still not fixed for me either. Latest beta, i7 640-LM, OCZ Vertex 2 SSD. My session is a bit special, I don't start a normal gnome. It looks like this: florian@hermione ~ % cat /usr/share/xsessions/compiler.desktop [Desktop Entry] Name=Compiler Comment=AWN and compiz Exec=gnome-session --session=compiler TryExec=gnome-session Icon= Type=Application X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=gnome-session-2.0 florian@hermione ~ % cat /usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/compiler.session [GNOME Session] Name=Ubuntu Required=windowmanager;panel; Required-windowmanager=compiz Required-panel=avant-window-navigator DefaultApps=gnome-settings-daemon; mb21, anything like this applies to you as well? Also, when I'm in the session, I cannot kill the original gnome-settings-daemon with a SIGTERM, only a SIGKILL seems to do something... Also, for some reason, it does not happen when I use a self-baked zen kernel.
