[Bug 754341] [NEW] Gnome desktop does not show icons

2011-04-08 Thread Rok Lenardic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

After upgrading from 10.10 to 11.04 about 5 days ago, things went well.
Even though I could not log in with the Unity as the desktop, I was able
to continue with the Ubuntu Classic option which inlcudes gnome desktop.
Then, 3 days ago I updated using the update-manager and the login theme
and the desktop theme changed, to the worse since no icons are being
shown (see attached screenshot).

I've been updating ever since hoping it would resolve but it has not so
i'm filing this bug.

This might be a similar bug but since there's no details I decided to file a
new one:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/376309

Rok

[Bug 73750] Re: After hibernate: Battery not correctly recognized/displayed in Panel applet

2011-04-08 Thread fyo
I can confirm this bug in both 10.04 and 10.10 (both Netbook Edition).

I can also confirm that marco's workaround for getting the battery-
indicator back by suspending to RAM (not hibernating) works.

What makes this bug particularly nasty is that Ubuntu really is
*completely* unaware that the system is running on battery and thus
happily chugs along until the system suddenly loses power, like pulling
the plug on a running system. Not fun.

[Bug 670128] Re: gnome-open uses firefox while it's not the preferred browser

2011-04-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package xdg-utils - 1.1.0~rc1-2ubuntu2

---
xdg-utils (1.1.0~rc1-2ubuntu2) natty; urgency=low

  * Fix LP: #670128 - gnome-open uses firefox while it's not the preferred
browser. Backport upstream changes to use the x-scheme-handler types
for checking/setting the default browser/mail client in xdg-settings
and xdg-email. In addition to this, we fix xdg-mime to get/set
default mimetype handlers using the users mimeapps.list, rather than
the defaults.list, which doesn't work anywhere
- add debian/patches/gnome-3.0.diff
- update debian/patches/series

[Bug 655405] Re: evolution calendar-, task- and notivication-lists crashes by opening

2011-04-08 Thread Znoren
I have the same problem:
When I switch to calendar view in Evolution, it does not display my calendar
information but shows a number of error message windows. Evolution does not
crash entirely, I can still go back to reading mail etc. Unticking a calendar
box and then re-ticking it makes the calendar information display briefly, then
another error message appears.
I attach a valgrind log.

shinji2001xyz, a confirmation alert is generally the last resort if
there is no other way of solving a design problem. A simpler way, of
practically eliminating the possibility of hitting Ctrl Q by mistake,

[Bug 68213] Re: Column customizations not remembered

2011-04-08 Thread Peter Stuifzand
I created a patch that fixes this bug.

Explanation:

When  can_show_security_context_column() returns false, column
COL_SECURITYCONTEXT will be hidden. However the wrong column is found,
because the wrong function is used. Changing gtk_tree_view_get_column to
my_gtk_tree_view_get_column_with_sort_column_id fixes this bug.

[Bug 724262] Re: ubuntu 10.10 Log Out by itself

2011-04-08 Thread Magdolna Prantner
Hi,
I have a similar problem since I upgraded my laptop to ubuntu 10.10.

I couldn't identify the reason of the crashes, because they appear suddenly and
unexpectedly every time. It happens usually, if I open a new tab or a new site
in firefox, but I'm not sure, that firefox is the problem. Sometimes it happens
without firefox too. (Under windows doesn't happened yet.)
What do you/I need to do to help to identify the problem?

I already tried this solution, but it didn't worked for me:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=10082455postcount=15

Thanks for any help, this is a very annoying problem.

Ok, this is desktopcouch not updating the keyring tokens. Can you
please, on a terminal, after having quit evolution:

[Bug 491555] Re: In gedit's Replace window, a single Tab does not move focus from Search to Replace field

2011-04-08 Thread Chris Wilson
Christopher Overton, I was indeed able to reproduce this bug in Gedit
version 2.30.4 that ships with Natty. I observed that when I press Tab
when in the search field, focus is shifted first to the button that
reveals the search field's dropdown menu, and a second tab is required
to move into the replace field.

[Bug 754553] [NEW] Evolution re-send old mails sometimes when sending new mails.

2011-04-08 Thread Martin Bodin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Hi,
It’s been about a month that I’ve this problem.
I haven’t found the exact way to reproduce it, but it appears relatively often.
It appears each time when I send a mail.
The outbox, initialy empty, is then filled by the mail I’ve just compose, which
is normal, but sometimes with other old mails. Then these mails are sent.
Thus I’ve sent through Evolution some mails more than one time.
At each time this happens, the old mails is sent with exactly the same
properties as the old one: for instance the sent date writen in the “new old
mail” is the same as the old one. (The sent date writen in the mail through the
field “Date”, not the real sending date.) The containing text is of course the
same.
I’ve tested it without connection and it sometimes “works” too. (But then I’ve
expenrienced no problem in erasing them… But they were still created in the
outbox!)
It’s a bit problematic for me to have this bug now.
If you need some other information, you can of course ask.
Thanks!
Martin.

[Bug 754569] [NEW] Empathy does not support Google 2-Step Authentication

2011-04-08 Thread Chris Wilson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Recently, Google introduced 2-Step Authentication[1] to make their users
accounts more secure. This works by requesting that the user enter a
randomly generated 6 digit number when they log in from an unknown
computer for the first time. Since not every application supports this,
they also introduced 'Application Specific Passwords' which is a
randomly generated 16 character alpha-numeric one-time only password
that it entered when connecting an application to a Google account for
the first time.

Since I have enabled 2-Step Authentication on my account, I am no longer
able to sign into Google Talk using Empathy.

[Bug 747331] Re: crashed on pet society

2011-04-08 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your
report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can
better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it.

Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For
help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally,
in the report please include:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -
About Ubuntu.
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by
checking in Synaptic.
3) What happened and what you expected to happen.

The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide
variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures .
Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make
your bug report much more complete. Thanks!

We're already almost at Natty and I'm still having this problem. I have
turned off the login sound on the login screen and my system sound
settings are set to No Sounds and I still get the drums. It seems very
user-unfriendly to provide an option to uncheck the login sound and then
proceed to ignore the option.

2011-04-08 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 754596] [NEW] Preferences Screen and General Resolution Off screen (too Big)

2011-04-08 Thread Jay
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Screen Resolution 1024x600. Drivers properly installed and working
correctly for ALL other applications. GMA500 Video and Poulsubo Drivers
correctly compiled and istalled. MSI Wind U110 ECO, Ubuntu 10.10
Netbook

Preferences pages to not properly poll the actual screen resolution when
opening. Certain actions in Calendar, Tasks, Mail and Preference pages
cause all other resolutions to pull this improperly polled value. Once
this happens, screen resolution scaling is incorrectly set too large
causing the lower 1/2 of the screen and menus to be unusable until
application is closed and re-opened.

Main preferences screen is ALWAYS improperly polled, making setup
impossible.

Clearly there is an improperly assigned value in these resolutions
instead of them correctly polling based on the number of people having
issues with this and the variety of screen resolutions under which this
occurs. PLEASE FIX THIS, it goes all the way back to 2.x.x.

Thanks.
