[Bug 766862] [NEW] remote finger no longer work, local finger limited (pinky vs finger)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-nettool This is a duplicated entry for the gnome upstream bug#611408 Simon Paillard [reporter] 2010-02-28 15:20:55 UTC Hello, This has been reported intially in http://bugs.debian.org/550991 Remote finger no longer works. It seems the switch from finger to pinky caused a regression in finger feature. gnome-nettool's finger functionality does not work. If I try to finger b...@crustytoothpaste.ath.cx or a...@monk.mit.edu (or anyone else, for that matter), it sends no packets, and produces only the output: LoginName TTY Idle When Where This seems to be a regression since 2.22.1-1, after the switch to pinky as finger program, introduced after the resolution of: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=549588 commit a9eaa17cdae8563e19e1afc2aebe64e534a4da85 2008-12-04 02:56 German Poo-Caamano Fixed #549588. Try to use pinky instead of finger. Use finger as fallback. $ pinky a...@monk.mit.edu LoginName TTY Idle When Where It doesn't seem pinky is able to do the same job as finger does. ** Affects: gnome-nettool Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: oem-priority Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gnome-nettool (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #611408 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=611408 ** Also affects: gnome-nettool via https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=611408 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Also affects: oem-priority Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-nettool in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/766862 Title: remote finger no longer work, local finger limited (pinky vs finger) -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 766876] [NEW] Usability issue in gnome-power-statistics
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager The gnome-power-statistics window has 3 select options on the left - Ac Adapter, Laptop Battery, Processor. Laptop Battery selection has 3 tabs on the right side of the window - Detail, History, Statistics If you click on Ac Adapter and then click on Laptop Battery, you are taken to the Detail tab. [Bug 756277] Re: Incorrect Evaluation Order for Implied Multiplication
There's nothing in the help that describes this situation but a look at the equation parser in the source would seem to agree with the described behaviour. In this case 48÷2(9+3) is equivalent to 48÷(2x(9+3)) i.e. the precedence of the multiplication is raised in this situation. This is the same as some TI calculators (TI-80/81/82/85). Later calculators changed the order of calculation to make implicit and explicit multiplication the same. The choice here appears to be between explicitly mentioning this order of evaluation in the help or change the precedence in the code. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gcalctool in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/756277 Title: Incorrect Evaluation Order for Implied Multiplication -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Same problem here, updated Ubuntu 11.04 amd64. All KDE audio application using phonon fail to start, but the process is still running and cannot even be killed with kill -9. [Bug 767031] [NEW] Rhythmbox volume button does not work as expected in party mode
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Normally when you click the volume button situated at the right of the window, it pops-up the volume slider and it adjusts it's position so that (while you are still with the mouse button down) you just move up or down and the volume changes. Example: (1 mouse down over the volume button, then mouse move changes the volume and mouse up closes the volume slider) This is the normal, expected behavior. Problem is that when in party mode, if I do mouse down over the volume button, the volume slider opens but does not receive mouse move events directly to change volume. Instead I have to click a second time over the slider to change volume. So in party mode I have to do click, click, mouse move, click to hide slider. If I do click, mouse move, mouse up: the slider opens, does not change volume on mouse move and closes as expected on mouse up. [Bug 498465] Re: The procedure the change the master password is too complex
Comment from upstream: In general this should not be necessary for normal users to do. 1. The login keyring password should be kept in sync with the user's unix password. This occurs automatically when a proper password changing tool (such as 'passwd') is used. The tool needs to use the standard PAM facilities to change the user's password. 2. Even if the password gets out of sync, gnome-keyring-2.91.1 and later helps to fix the user's password when it gets out of sync. The first time its detected that the password for the login keyring and user's unix password are out of sync, the user is prompted to enter their old password, and the login keyring is then changed to the new password. If there are additional design changes that are suggested, please add them to this ticket. If you can, please subscribe/comment on the gnome bugtracker. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/498465 Title: The procedure the change the master password is too complex -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

The morphing window is by design. Empathy should not have been using Notify OSD for incoming calls in the first place, because a notification bubble gave no way of answering the call. [Bug 746028] Re: Wallpapers are not updated on upgrade to Natty
Yeah, my biggest issue was for Edubuntu where we switch between two completely different wallpapers and will likely have user use the difference of wallpaper to know if a system is Maverick or Natty. A similar fix could be applied to ubuntu-wallpaper if we're fine with adding a touch in the .postinst to update the timestamp but I agree it's not critical as both wallpapers are almost identical. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/746028 Title: Wallpapers are not updated on upgrade to Natty -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 476662] Re: Notifications use append instead of replace
I hope I am not reviving an old bug unnecessarily. On my Ubuntu 11.04 Beta (fresh install of Beta 1, now all packages updated to newest version), Empathy shows one notification per message, which means the next message gets shown no sooner than when the notification for the previous one timeouts. I would expect the next message from the same person get appended to the old one in the existing notification, like with Pidgin on Ubuntu 10.10 I used previously.
