[Bug 678421] Re: Error in ~/.profile halts the X startup
The idea is simple: ### VARS=$( # this allows to capture subshell stdout to a variable . $HOME/script.sh 1/dev/null # this prevents script printing something to stdout set # this prints all variables to stdout alias | sed 's/.*/alias \0/' # this prints aliases to stdout and prefixes them with alias ) || ERRCODE=$? if [ $ERRCODE==0 ] then eval $VARS # if everything is ok, we reevaluate the variables and aliases in this shell fi ### Now the VARS=$(command) || ERRCODE=$?, || prevents the command from exiting the script if the next command exits with code 0. We could also use VARS=$(command) || true, but then $? would contain the result of command true, since ERRCODE=$? also exits with code 0 we can prevent the shell from exiting and remember the correct error code. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/678421 Title: Error in ~/.profile halts the X startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/678421/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 765847] Re: Send to Email is missing on Natty
I have received the update today. The test case works, either starting it by right clicking or in the terminal. I have tested both cases with Evolution open and closed (4 tests in total), all worked (i.e. email window pops up with the file attached, all other items still there). So this is a Works for Me. Bruce problem is different from the original bug, the bug was about missing the send-to entry, Bruce problem is about this entry working incorrect. I suspect that this is a complete different problem and another bug should be opened with all the relevant data. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus-sendto in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765847 Title: Send to Email is missing on Natty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus-sendto/+bug/765847/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 13319] Re: nautilus should sort by extensions
Nautilus 2.32.2.1 All those years ago, Vincent was absolutely correct. Over 6 years later...6 years, and still the same horrendous problem exists. (In reply to comment #1) I'm not sure that's useful to add such options. Yes it is.. my goodness... Yes it is! It's not just useful ... It's an utter necessity. I read with horror, the response made by Seb Bacher: I'm sure that some people have some files sorted in a best way with the type rather than the extension. I just don't see how this statement can be true. One can't rename files, or change extensions at whim, so how can anybody have them sorted in the best way, by using type?? It just doesn't work: /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/70603113.PMO /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/A9OL4VF8.PMO /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/ADDR64C2.PM! /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/ADDR64C2.PMR /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/ALLADDS.PM! /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/ALLADDS.PMR /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/B1EBOV2P.PMO /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/B1R3F2HD.PMO /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/BEGJ8868.PMO /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/BUSINESS.PM! /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/BUSINESS.PMR /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/DESKTOP.PM0 /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/EOWM12D2.PMO In the above example, the directory contains many hundreds of files, and it is mission critical that I have them grouped together, for staged pasting into a new folder. It was a nightmare here's what i had to do: /home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN /home/mark/Temp data/CNM /home/mark/Temp data/pmi /home/mark/Temp data/PMM /home/mark/Temp data/singles I created dirs named by extension, then trolled thru admin, cutting and pasting files into appropriate dirs - just to sort them! In 2011 i'm having to figure out some micky mouse way of sorting files, when in windows explorer, it would have been * a single mouse click *. In fact, to be fair what i should have done. was: reboot to win7, and do the whole job using win explorer. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/13319 Title: nautilus should sort by extensions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/13319/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 491940] Re: Patch for LTSP clients to properly reboot/shutdown
Sorry, no idea. We're using only LTS releases here, and I'm kinda pressed time-wise this year, so I won't be able to test with recent versions of the involved packages until Ubuntu 12.04, if it's still a problem then. The LTSP task mainly referred to LTSP_LOGOUT_ACTION (commit http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ltsp-upstream/ltsp/ltsp- trunk/revision/1481), so yeah, either invalid or committed will do, until gnome-session can provide a method to notify the caller (LDM, xinit...) about the selected action (logout, reboot, shutdown). Another approach is to at least make indicator-session policy-kit aware, so that it doesn't display the reboot/shutdown menu items at all: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-session/+bug/474392 From a user's perspective, that's not as good as fixing gnome-session, because then the user loses logout/reboot/shutdown functionality from the menus. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491940 Title: Patch for LTSP clients to properly reboot/shutdown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/491940/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
