[Bug 822479] Re: Massive Evolution Mail memory leak
Some addition to the bug scenario: I've fresh installed ubuntu 11.04 on a new laptop, then I backed up all my evolution data from the old laptop and imported the backup onto the new one. After that operation evolution on the new laptop started to eat up ram in horrible way, taking around 100MB of memory for each message opened, and never freeing memory. So I've cleaned the configuration files of evolution and the locally downloaded mails. After this step evolution seems to does not eat up memory by simply opening messages. Before the operation it was leaking about 100MB of memory for each message opened. The removed files to clean up config and downloaded messages are ~/.evolution ~/.local/share/evolution ~/.config/evolution The memory leak could be related to the big quantity of locally stored messages (around 2Gb), or with a setting coming from the old setup that triggered a bug in evolution. [Bug 825874] [NEW] Thinkpad T61 keyboard volume control buttons badly programmed
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Thinkpad T61 keyboard volume control buttons badly programmed. I am playing a piece of music using Banshee. If I press the hardware keyboard volume control button Mute, then the volume will be zero. This is as expected. If I now press the hardware keyboard volume control button Mute again, then the volume will stay zero. This is an error. I expect that the old volume would be restored. But I can press now the hardware keyboard volume control button Up, and the music will play with the old volume value. [Bug 825874] Re: Thinkpad T61 keyboard volume control buttons badly programmed
I think the behaviour for this has changed in Ubuntu 10.10, so that volume up pushes the volume up from 0 instead. On the other hand, it sounds like your mute button isn't registering a keypress when the volume is muted, hence not allowing you to unmute it. Could you run xev in a terminal, and in the window that appears, press Mute twice in succession, then post the output here. Either way, the volume that is being changed is the global machine volume, rather than Banshee's volume (Banshee has nothing to do with the volume keys), so I'm changing the package to gnome-settings-daemon temporarily (I believe that's what handles the volume keys) ** Changed in: banshee (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Package changed: banshee (Ubuntu) = gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/825874 Title: Thinkpad T61 keyboard volume control buttons badly programmed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/825874/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 825753] Re: command ps -A has fixed lenght output
Hi, This isn't gnome-terminal (happens in other terminals). But I also, don't think it's actually a bug; I think ps -A is using /proc/pid/comm to get the unchangable task name, the kernel docs (Documentation/filesystems/proc.txt) state: 3.6 /proc/pid/comm /proc/pid/task/tid/comm These files provide a method to access a tasks comm value. It also allows for a task to set its own or one of its thread siblings comm value. The comm value is limited in size compared to the cmdline value, so writing anything longer then the kernel's TASK_COMM_LEN (currently 16 chars) will result in a truncated comm value. So, that's what the kernel provides, so I don't think that's a bug. (You might decide it is a bug, in which case it seems to be the kernel).
