Re: [Bug 724618] a specific CD is not automounted on insertion
Plrase hold on another day or two. We are currently searching for that CD in our messy working room. I have already installed the Oneiric alpha on a thumb drive. Pedro Villavicencio pe...@ubuntu.com schrieb: Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/724618 Title: a specific CD is not automounted on insertion Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Today my wife brought me a CDROM which is not mounted automatically when inserted. On the other hand, executing mount /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom -t iso9660 manually works without any problems. The problem happens only with this CD, all others are automounted without problems. The CD is burnt, not pressed and is less than one month old. Copying 96 MB of data from it to the hard disk goes at normal speed. The same problem occurs on another laptop running fully updated Ubuntu 10.04. My PC is configured as a dual boot system with Windows XP beside Ubuntu. Under Windows XP on this computer, the questionable CD is automounted with no problems. I assume there must be something like a not closed session or other non-standart feature with this CD. Unfortunately i do not know how to verify this. I don't dare to explain the manual mount command to my wife. [Bug 829232] [NEW] Keyboard access: window switcher excludes dialog windows
Public bug reported: Environment: Ubuntu classic, desktop effects disabled. Dialog windows are not listed in the alt+tab window switcher. When switching to an application with an active dialog, the main window gets the focus. Expected behavior: the KDE desktop manages to get this right: it switches to the active dialog instead. I first noticed this with update-manager, where the dialog window (the downloading window) seems to be a modal dialog, so the main window was not responsive, *and yet it was not possible to switch to the modal dialog window*! But it's also true of the gedit open dialog, which is not modal. [Bug 829241] [NEW] New applications open in foreground, even during drag+drop
Public bug reported: Environment: Ubuntu classic, no desktop effects Just a small surprise, coming from a KDE point of view. If I'm dragging a scroll bar, or even if I'm currently dragging a window around the screen, new applications open in front of everything else. In the first case, the new app steals the focus; if I release the drag and start keyboarding, the new app will receive the events. In the second case, the window I'm dragging will keep the keyboard focus, but stay behind the new app. Which felt really weird. I think this is what KDE fixes with focus stealing prevention. Instead of getting in the way, the new app shows itself as a flashing entry in the task manager. Though I'm not sure whether that paradigm is available in GNOME (or Unity, for that matter). [Bug 829415] [NEW] Alt+tab window switcher doesn't show obscured windows
Public bug reported: Environment: Ubuntu classic, no desktop effects 1) Maximize a Firefox window 2) Open one other application, say Calculator 3) alt+tab back to Firefox. Calculator is now hidden, because Firefox is in front of it. 4) Press and hold alt+tab. The window switcher will show that you are about to switch back to Calculator. It will also draw a nice outline around the Calculator window. However, the outline is all you can see of the window. The actual calculator is still hidden behind the Firefox window. Expected behaviour: the calculator should be raised temporarily, so you can see what you're about to switch to. (Temporarily, because if you release and re-press tab, switching to a different window, then the Calculator window should drop back again). [Bug 827414] Re: gedit fails to start on first try, but does on the second
So that bug and bug 808918 seem to indicate that this is not a problem in either u2d, u3d or bamf, but more a regression in gedit. It was working in natty, and the part of the code that starts applications didn't change in that regard. Besides the anomaly is limited to gedit and other programs don't exhibit the same issue. ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu Oneiric) Status: Confirmed = Invalid ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu Oneiric) Assignee: Jason Smith (jassmith) = (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/827414 Title: gedit fails to start on first try, but does on the second To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/827414/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 829556] [NEW] PDF thumbnailer hanging for a time and not working
Public bug reported: If I save a PDF from an email message to my desktop, Nautilus attempts to create a thumbnail. The attempt fails. I see the clock indicating that a thumbnail is being created. While this is occurring, I can not interact with the desktop using the mouse. Then, after about 45 seconds, the thumb-nailing process quits with a default PDF thumbnail. Double clicking on the PDF opens it just fine. The PDF files are not corrupt or unreadable. [Bug 676828] Re: Contacts does not show up in empathy contact list
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 558872 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/558872 I've been using Empathy with no trouble for about ten months (using a google talk account). Yesterday I added an MSN account and everything seemed to work okay. Today, went to log in and saw that none of my google talk contacts were listed in the main window (choosing View, Show Offline Contacts did nothing). Tried logging out and back in several times. My MSN contacts show up no problem, but my google talk contacts are missing. Odd thing is, my google contacts can see me logged in, and can still chat me, but I can't see them at all. Removed my MSN account entirely and still can't see any of my google talk contacts - the main window is just empty now.
