Last I checked, this worked with Empathy in Natty (with most supported cameras). Does anyone still have issues with XMPP video chat? [Bug 836612] Re: There is no option to configure laptop lid action
I am still not sure if suspend has just gotten much more unreliable on my laptop in 11.10 or if it is an artifact of the missing lid close option/functionality. I did find this script http://fedora.rasmil.dk/blog/?p=208 that adds gsettings for lid close actions. This seems to effect gnome-power-managers actions on lid close, but suspend still seems less reliable than 11.10. I've never had a problem with percentage remaining being available, this really does look like a hardware problem as I don't get a time remaining available in Windows.
