[Bug 804435] Re: Wallpaper is loaded twice with different alignment by gnome-session and nautilus (Oneiric)

2011-09-05 Thread Alberto Mardegan
@Lucazade: does bug 839610 describe the same behaviour you are seeing?
The large left margin you are seeing painted in grey, how many pixels
(approximately) is it wide?

2011-09-05 Thread Lucazade
@Alberto
left margin seems small, just few pixels.. anyway it is not the only movement
and stretch of wallpaper.
I made a video to explain the issue better, it is a bit slow becuase it is in a
virtualmachine, from 0:36 to the end is relevant.

Florian told me a couple of days ago on irc that these issues are different,
sincerly things are not so clear for me.
if you need anything else, i'm here!

[Bug 804435] Re: Wallpaper is loaded twice with different alignment by gnome-session and nautilus (Oneiric)

2011-09-05 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Thanks Lucazade!
Indeed, the issue that I experienced is what Florian described in bug 839610:
it's also visible in your video, when the background quickly shift to the right
by a few pixels. I couldn't reproduce the grey band on the left.

It seems you have disabled compositing; did you do it on purpose? If so,
can you enable it again and see if things behave differently?

[Bug 841595] [NEW] lock screen wallpaper does not track session wallpaper change

2011-09-05 Thread Paul Collins
Public bug reported:

Version: 3.1.5-0ubuntu6
Release:11.10

I noticed that the lock screen now shows my background image, which is
much more reassuring than natty's bottomless void. However, when I
change the background image during my session, the lock screen does not
follow along, but instead continues to show the old image.

[Bug 841541] Re: num lock is on warning remains even after num lock is turned off

2011-09-05 Thread Paul Collins
** Description changed:

+ Version: 3.1.5-0ubuntu6
+ Release: 11.10
+
After fiddling with Num Lock, I noticed that the lock window claimed it
was still enabled, and yet it is not.

  Sequence of events:
  * Turn on Num Lock.
  * Lock the screen. (On a ThinkPad, I do this by pressing Fn+F2. Whatever
option it is that means lock the screen immediately, I have it turned on.)
  * Tap a key to bring up the screen-locked/enter-password dialog.
  * Observe the warning.
  * Turn off Num Lock.
  * Observe the warning is still there.
  * Successfully unlock the screen.
  * Lock the screen again.
  * Observe the warning is still there.
  * [Optional] Unlock the screen. File a bug against gnome-screensaver.

Not related to bug #835649, which concerns showing the warning when Num
Lock is enabled but not otherwise problematic, e.g. when using a full-
size (i.e. has lots of extra keys) keyboard.

[Bug 804435] Re: Wallpaper is loaded twice with different alignment by gnome-session and nautilus (Oneiric)

2011-09-05 Thread Lucazade
@Alberto
the big grey band on the left is visible only when metacity compositor is
disabled.
(I usually disable it with low powered machines, like virtualbox and my intel
gma500, because composite kill some performances, like scrolling in web
browsers!)

instead the small grey band seems 15px wide

enabling comoposite things behave differently so i made another video

[Bug 803748] Re: Always error message while sending a mail

2011-09-05 Thread Alex White
I'm getting the same error message on my system.

Error while Sending message.
Failed to append to
maildir:/home/alex/.local/share/evolution/mail/local;need-summary-check=no#Sent:
Cannot get folder '/home/alex/.local/share/evolution/mail/local/Sent': not a
maildir directory.
Appending to local 'Sent' folder instead.

I started getting the error after reinstalling Natty because I'd
installed Gnome3 and it was causing errors (but not in evolution) on my
system. After a clean re-install of Natty, Evolution had lost all my
emails, I found the files and copied them back into an empty folder
allowing evolution to create the extra files it needed. But it seems
something is missing.

I don't know if it's a bug but if there's a way of creating a Sent
maildir directory that'd be nice.

[Bug 275213] Re: Can't resize larger than 10000 pixels

2011-09-05 Thread B Bobo
@pmjdebruijn Is there an actual sane use-case for this?

Panoramas, spectroscopic images, astronomical images, cam/cad images,
etc etc.

I use images larger than this regularly in some of these applications.

There is no upper bound on the dimensions of images that users may need to
create.
f-spot should not be assuming one.
It is better if f-spot can catch exception on memory allocation failure.

[Bug 778083] Re: Switching workspaces does not always redraw everything necessary

2011-09-05 Thread Jussi Rintanen
Me too: I believe that the bug is related to the option of selecting windows
when the mouse is over the window. I have two computers, an old Dell D610
laptop with an Intel graphics card, and an equally old Dell Dimension 5150 with
an old ATI Radeon, both having some windows not redrawn when switching
workspaces. If I have windows selected when clicking them, then the problem
disappears and windows are redrawn properly.

[Bug 763510] Re: Evolution freezes while browsing Google address book

2011-09-05 Thread Panagiotis Minos
Hi,

I had the same problem with my Personal contacts, it happens when I
click on a contact with two or more IM accounts and evolution must
render the icons for the account in the Contact Preview window.

The problem seems to be in the package libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0. More specific
the function gdk_pixbuf_loader_load_module (file gdk-pixbuf-loader.c)
seems to call _gdk_pixbuf_lock but does not call _gdk_pixbuf_unlock.

After applying the following patch, the problem seems to disappear.

** Patch added: gdk-pixbuf-2.23.3 patch

[Bug 735879] Re: Firefox link missing from top panel in Classic desktop mode

2011-09-05 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I'm closing this bug because it won't be fixed in Ubuntu 11.04. In
Ubuntu 11.10, for those that still use gnome-panel, we currently are
trying to ship a vanilla gnome-panel that is in line with upstream
without the heavy patching we've done in the past.

[Bug 834723] Re: System menu not available

2011-09-05 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I'm closing this bug since this is a GNOME Design decision to make GNOME
Fallback (gnome-panel 3) more similar to GNOME Shell. You can still get
to your system apps either by opening System Settings (by clicking the
far right button in the top bar) or through ApplicationsOther or
similar.

The clock was intentionally moved to the center because that is part of
GNOME Shell's design. You're welcome to move it to the right hand side
if you prefer. Note that you need to hold down the Alt key while right-
clicking to edit gnome-panel applets.

[Bug 176696] Re: Allow for file tagging, ala F-spot

2011-09-05 Thread Si Dedman
David - a workaround, and a coarse one at that, but:
If you're anything like me in the way you use song ratings, you'll find you
don't use 1 or 2 star because you either don't bother rating (or listening to)
songs you don't like, or you don't have them or delete them. If this is the
case (and it's an easy check) then you may be able to easily blanket-tag your
music with 1* and hers with 2*.

Like i say, not ideal, but potentially a quick workaround.

Simon

[Bug 841785] [NEW] Changes / edits to genre tags not saved on restart

2011-09-05 Thread Si Dedman
Public bug reported:

Have recently noticed this - editing genre tags in Rhythmbox seems to work, but
the tags revert to their previous state after a full close reopen. Example
changes:
rock Rock
Alternativ Alternative Rock

I tried the 'rock' switch through a fictional intermediary genre ('Mangy
Balls') in case the upper/lower case R was causing the problem.

Any ideas? Haven't extensively looked into this yet (e.g. does it work
for all artists, does it happen with other tag fields) but i wonder if
it's the kind of thing that others might be experiencing but you'd not
think to look for, simply assuming that the changes had been permanently
saved.

Cheers

Simon

p.s. don't have full tech spec on me, but essentially: latest rhythmbox
 ubuntu version.
