[Bug 742544] Re: Launcher is shown on the wrong screen in some multi-monitor setups
Re: The permanent workaround... 1. It is only expected to work on Ubuntu 11.04 natty. Andrea's comments suggest the same workaround won't work on Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric. 2. You need to make sure the change to monitors.xml is still there. Sometimes it gets overwritten when you log out and in again. [Bug 864575] [NEW] Evolution crashes when adding multiple IMs to a contact
Public bug reported: When I add multiple different IMs to an evolution contact, it kinda- sorta-crashes... my X session: The whole desktop becomes unresponsive. I can move the mouse cursor and switch desktops, but that's about it. When I log in remotely or via another virtual terminal and kill (-15) evolution, everything switches back to normal. This is on Ubuntu 11.04, with evolution 2.32.2-0ubuntu7. I can reproduce this bug in a completely virgin user profile. Steps to reproduce: Open Evolution Contacts. Add new Contact. In the Contact Editor, enter a name (Joe Software Guy), an Instant Messaging contact (Jabber: joesoft@thisoneserver), then add another Instant Messaging contact of a different service type (ICQ: 123456789). Click OK. What I expected to happen: Contact Editor closes, new contact in address book. What happened instead: Evolution crashes. This time, I can kill it via WM controls. If I open Evolution again I see the new contact in the address book. If I click on it, Evolution crashes my X session. Ideas on how to delete contacts without clicking on them would also be greatly appreciated right now. ;) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: evolution 2.32.2-0ubuntu7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-11.50-generic 2.6.38.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-11-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Oct 2 13:23:17 2011 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal - Release amd64 (20110427.1) SourcePackage: evolution UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug natty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/864575 Title: Evolution crashes when adding multiple IMs to a contact To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/864575/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 862287] Re: [Lucid] Front, Surround, LFE, and Center volume meters are default muted with 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) sound
Hy, Please review this patch. I generated a custom Ubuntu 10.04.3 live CD with containing the patched alsa-utils script in /sbin directory. When I booted this custom live CD, my desktop machine Nvidia soundcard is not muted by default (see bug 564472 for details). I am absolute sure this patch will resolve the mute problem for this Intel N10 soundcard too. I added both the Intel N10 soundcard experienced muted channels and the Nvidia soundcard experienced muted channels with the patch. I have got a question if you accept this type fix with final patch and perhaps commit this fix Lucid and Oneiric branch: What method are better to fix this problem? Use the switch_control method to only switch the muted status from off to on, or use the unmute_and_set_level method this new channels and setting for example with a 80% volume value? [Bug 864644] [NEW] Nautilus fails to launch when added to Startup Applications
Public bug reported: I would like Nautilus to open after I login, so I added the command nautilus in my Startup applications. However no Nautilus window appears, while the exact same command works well from a terminal. I also tried nautilus --browser, same story. WORKAROUND: We need to add a dot (or any other path): nautilus --browser . It's true that according to the manual (man nautilus), there is a URI parameter which seems to be mandatory. However, why should it be mandatory? And if it is, why does the command nautilus (without URI) work from the terminal? I think this is inconsistent, and it could easily be fixed. [Bug 28177] Re: [totem-gstreamer] AC3 pass-through option not selectable
The pulseaudio part of this bug has been fixed in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot thanks to the update to pulseaudio 1:1.0-0ubuntu1. Currently, the only client to support passthrough output is the GStreamer PulseAudio plugin. This will be available in the next release (0.10.31) of gst-plugins-good. Once this is installed, you should be able to have passthrough output just work with Totem and most other players that use playbin2. Confirming here. I noticed my desktop system had done this last night. I booted it up and was away for a couple of hours to find it had hibernated again. I checked my settings and they were set to Don't Suspend. The When power is critically low dropdown setting was showing a blank value, as if neither Hibernate nor Shutdown were selected. [Bug 814799] Re: It is possible to create a new tab on the desktop window with Ctrl + T
The 'CTRL+T' shortcut still opens new tab and makes it very confusing (for newcomers). That's with Nautilus 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5. It should be noted that this behaviour doesn't break the desktop, because you can close that new tab (just right click on it and you will see close tab option). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/814799 Title: It is possible to create a new tab on the desktop window with Ctrl + T To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/814799/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 864775] [NEW] rhythmbox does not remove tracks from playlist if the file has been removed
Public bug reported: Rhythmbox is unable to remove tracks from playlist if the actual file is removed. How it happened: I had a playlist created from files. I had moved those files to different location. Then I tried to remove them from playlist: nothing happened, no errors, but tracks were still in the playlist. I had to delete whole playlist. Then I created new playlist, dragged files in it, tried to delete them from playlist and succeeded. If one wants to remove tracks from playlist, rhythmbox should do it even if physical file is moved/renamed/deleted.
