[Bug 445508] Re: Integrated bug report with with gnome-system-monitor for every process
Thank you for the report. g-s-m is a process and resources monitoring tool. Therefore g-s-m should not provide functionality which doesn't fit in its spectre, even if it provides all the needed information for such features. Additionally, such a feature request will create a dependency on ubuntu-bug/apport. Considering these problems, I'm sure that the upstream won't accept such a request. Since the idea to select a PID from a GUI is reasonable and ubuntu-bug /apport-bug requires a PID anyways, I suggest to place such an option under Other problem directly in apport-bug if no package or pid has been specified on the command line. There is an entry suggesting enchancements in this direction in the apport package. [Bug 840680] Re: gnome-control-center is missing setting for action to take when removable hard drive or usb key is inserted
On investigation, it seems that if you open system settings and then click on Removable Media, Down the bottom there's a checkbox 'Never prompt or start programs on media insertion'. If this is unchecked Nautilus will not open a file view for a USB pendrive or other device when it is plugged in. This is not obvious when coming from earlier versions, because it was separate to removable media and a setting in Nautilus itself. [Bug 871646] [NEW] No notification for new messages
Public bug reported: My problem is this: when I am at work (I am a web developer) it happens quite frequently that people stare at my screen. Therefore, I don't like that other people see the messages I'm getting from my girlfriend or from my business partner. In ubuntu 11.04 I could disable visual notifications in empathy and still the little envelope of the indicator applet was colored in blue each time I was getting a message. That was great because I was getting notified of a new message but nothing was displayed on screen. In ubuntu 11.10, if I disable the visual notifications I don't get anything when new messages arrive. Needless to say there can be half an hour (or more) from the moment I get the message and the moment I realize it (because I manually check). Thanks, have a nice day! [Bug 871679] [NEW] file-roller extract dialog can't create folders under Desktop folder
Public bug reported: When using file-roller to extract files from an archive, in the file chooser dialog where one can choose the target folder to extract to, there is a Create Folder button that allows the user to create new folders on the fly from withing the file chooser dialog. This works fine in all folders except the user's ~/Desktop folder - when navigating to the desktop folder and clicking the Create Folder button, a new entry appears in the file list, with the text Type name of new folder highlighted to allow easy replacing - but the entry immediately disappears as if the ESC button was pressed. Sometimes it disappears almost immediately and you can only see a slight flicker, while in other cases the entry persist enough time to allow the user to type in a few characters - but in all cases the entry is canceled after a few seconds at most. Again, create a new folder works as expected in all cases I've tried, except when trying to do this at the user's ~/Desktop folder. [Bug 871531] Re: Nautilus crashes when a launcher contains an invalid icon filename
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. [Bug 852485] Re: [oneiric] cannot login, failed to load session
I would be surprised, if a specific bug like this is caused by a hardware failure, especially because I am using that notebook since months without a single problem (with previous versions of Ubuntu, too). Also, other DEs, like KDE seems to work nicely, with many resource hungry tasks (which usually triggers bugs like ones with disk I/O, memory or CPU). I've also tried to re-install packages you've mentioned but it did not help. Anyway, just to be sure, I will check it with memcheck at this evening. [Bug 858811] Re: computer runs slowly, fails to shut down properly
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We need some more information from you before we can start working on this bug. Please run the following command which will attach necessary information: apport-collect -p linux-image-`uname -r` 858811 Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository with 'sudo apt-get install python- launchpadlib'. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to Change Non-Private data as it will be adding information to your bug report. ** Package changed: gnome-system-monitor (Ubuntu) = linux-meta (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-monitor in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/858811 Title: computer runs slowly, fails to shut down properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+bug/858811/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 820722] Re: freezes up , no cursor or other functions. Usually in Yahoo. Not as common in other programs.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 870316] Re: Apparmor blocks GDM login for new users
The apparmor messages are generated when trying to access the /home/test directory with the guest user. This is expected and by design and should not affect the 'test' user from logging in at all. Also, the denials are from the gdm guest session profile as shipped by gdm, so I am closing the apparmor task. ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/870316 Title: Apparmor blocks GDM login for new users To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/870316/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
