 gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist ['all']

is when the double battery can be seen in the systray.

You also don't have to whitelist skype, provided you have the sni-qt:i386

[Bug 445508] Re: Integrated bug report with with gnome-system-monitor for every process

2011-10-10 Thread Dmitri Bachtin
Thank you for the report.

g-s-m is a process and resources monitoring tool. Therefore g-s-m should
not provide functionality which doesn't fit in its spectre, even if it
provides all the needed information for such features. Additionally,
such a feature request will create a dependency on ubuntu-bug/apport.
Considering these problems, I'm sure that the upstream won't accept such
a request.

Since the idea to select a PID from a GUI is reasonable and ubuntu-bug
/apport-bug requires a PID anyways, I suggest to place such an option
under Other problem directly in apport-bug if no package or pid has
been specified on the command line.

There is an entry suggesting enchancements in this direction in the
apport package. I will close this bug and I suggest to proceed further
discussion in the following entry:

2011-10-10 Thread Matthias Jordan
Here is a bit more data: The issue is also prevalent with Evince 2.32.0
(from Ubuntu 11.4). An interesting observation might be that the sample
PDF Abschlussarbeit.pdf prints okay to PDF. So when I open the file,
choose /File/Print and print not to our laser printer but to a PDF file,
the image is there.

[Bug 871616] [NEW] Just after opening nautilus, use tab to highlight Computer in nautilus, press enter on data on the desktop disappears.

2011-10-10 Thread Anup Verma
Public bug reported:

virtual-box Ubuntu 11.10

nautilus:
  Installed: 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5
  Candidate: 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5 0
500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Expected: The word Computer should neither be clickable using mouse
nor should it be highlighted using TAB.

What happens: Just after opening the nautilus, as expected one can not
click on the word Computer, but using TAB you can highlight the word
Computer in nautilus. After the word Computer is highlighted press
Enter, the window as well as data on the desktop disappear.

Note: This happens only when the nautilus is just started. You cannot
highlight Computer after you have clicked on other directories/links
in the nautilus. The data on the desktop reappears after opening
nautilus again and clicking on a link.

[Bug 840680] Re: gnome-control-center is missing setting for action to take when removable hard drive or usb key is inserted

2011-10-10 Thread Chris
On investigation, it seems that if you open system settings and then
click on Removable Media, Down the bottom there's a checkbox 'Never
prompt or start programs on media insertion'.

If this is unchecked Nautilus will not open a file view for a USB
pendrive or other device when it is plugged in. This is not obvious
when coming from earlier versions, because it was separate to removable
media and a setting in Nautilus itself.

I'm having a hard time explaining how to disable a hidden item for one

why do you need to disable system services this way? Could you give
examples? Those autostarts are often conditional to a gsettings or a
configuration option and the natural place to disable the service should
be in the corresponding config dialog and not to have to workaround by
editing autostart launchers

[Bug 871646] [NEW] No notification for new messages

2011-10-10 Thread Giordano
Public bug reported:

My problem is this: when I am at work (I am a web developer) it happens quite
frequently that people stare at my screen.
Therefore, I don't like that other people see the messages I'm getting from my
girlfriend or from my business partner.

In ubuntu 11.04 I could disable visual notifications in empathy and
still the little envelope of the indicator applet was colored in blue
each time I was getting a message. That was great because I was getting
notified of a new message but nothing was displayed on screen.

In ubuntu 11.10, if I disable the visual notifications I don't get
anything when new messages arrive. Needless to say there can be half an
hour (or more) from the moment I get the message and the moment I
realize it (because I manually check).

Thanks, have a nice day!
Giordano

[Bug 871679] [NEW] file-roller extract dialog can't create folders under Desktop folder

2011-10-10 Thread Oded Arbel
Public bug reported:

When using file-roller to extract files from an archive, in the file
chooser dialog where one can choose the target folder to extract to,
there is a Create Folder button that allows the user to create new
folders on the fly from withing the file chooser dialog.

This works fine in all folders except the user's ~/Desktop folder - when
navigating to the desktop folder and clicking the Create Folder
button, a new entry appears in the file list, with the text Type name
of new folder highlighted to allow easy replacing - but the entry
immediately disappears as if the ESC button was pressed. Sometimes it
disappears almost immediately and you can only see a slight flicker,
while in other cases the entry persist enough time to allow the user to
type in a few characters - but in all cases the entry is canceled after
a few seconds at most.

Again, create a new folder works as expected in all cases I've tried,
except when trying to do this at the user's ~/Desktop folder.

[Bug 860227] Re: greeter session puts the host to sleep after 30 minutes idle

2011-10-10 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
As a workaround, I've done the following:

sudo -u gdm dbus-launch gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power
sleep-inactive-ac false
sudo -u gdm dbus-launch gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power
sleep-inactive-ac-timeout 0
sudo -u gdm dbus-launch gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power
sleep-inactive-battery false
sudo -u gdm dbus-launch gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power
sleep-inactive-battery-timeout 1800

Which gives me:

$ sudo -u gdm gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.settings-
daemon.plugins.power | grep inactive

org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac false
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-timeout 0
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type 'suspend'
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-battery false
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-battery-timeout 1800
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-battery-type 'suspend'

That works well in a pinch, but it's definitely not user-friendly.

you had org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-
timeout 1800, you probably changed that settings at a time where the ui
and default were buggy and it stayed on a wrong value, it should work
fine with the current version for upgraders or new installs or those
using the ui

[Bug 828175] Re: Gnome clock applet not displaying evolution appointments

2011-10-10 Thread Khurshid Alam
Yes. I can confirm this. when I add clock applet to classic panel it
does't display any appointments from local evolution calendar . Although
Evolution Task, Location Contact birthday displays properly. And as
Jose reported, calendar dates with appointments are in bold, which means
its reading calendar data properly.

May be a applet problem or problem with gnome panel?

[Bug 871531] Re: Nautilus crashes when a launcher contains an invalid icon filename

2011-10-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 846252] Re: gnome-session-fallback - can't delete launchers

2011-10-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 852485] Re: [oneiric] cannot login, failed to load session

2011-10-10 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
I would be surprised, if a specific bug like this is caused by a
hardware failure, especially because I am using that notebook since
months without a single problem (with previous versions of Ubuntu, too).
Also, other DEs, like KDE seems to work nicely, with many resource
hungry tasks (which usually triggers bugs like ones with disk I/O,
memory or CPU). I've also tried to re-install packages you've mentioned
but it did not help. Anyway, just to be sure, I will check it with
memcheck at this evening. Also I am thinking to try to reinstall the
system (it was an upgrade from natty) to see if it helps, if there is no
further ideas to cure the problem; just I thought it can be useful to
track this bug if others may have it too ...

I've always had nVidia graphics (GeForce2 Go in my laptop, 7100GS in my

Please run the following command which will attach necessary
information:

Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib
package from the universe repository with 'sudo apt-get install python-

permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability
to Change Non-Private data as it will be adding information to your

2011-10-10 Thread Dmitri Bachtin
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 870316] Re: Apparmor blocks GDM login for new users

The apparmor messages are generated when trying to access the /home/test

not affect the 'test' user from logging in at all. Also, the denials are

[Bug 871616] Re: Just after opening nautilus, use tab to highlight Computer in nautilus, press enter on data on the desktop disappears.

2011-10-10 Thread Anup Verma
** Description changed:

  virtual-box Ubuntu 11.10

  nautilus:
- Installed: 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5
- Candidate: 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5
- Version table:
- *** 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5 0
- 500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages
- 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
+   Installed: 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5
+   Candidate: 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5
+   Version table:
+  *** 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5 0
+ 500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages
+ 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Expected: The word Computer should neither be clickable using mouse
nor should it be highlighted using TAB.

What happens: Just after opening the nautilus, as expected one can not
click on the word Computer, but using TAB you can highlight the word
- Computer in nautilus. After the word Computer is highlighted press
- Enter, the window as well as data on the desktop disappear.
+ Computer in nautilus. After the word Computer is highlighted press
+ Enter, the window as well as data on the desktop disappear. The data on
+ the desktop reappears after opening nautilus again and clicking on a
+ link.
+
+ Please look the attached image where I have marked by a red circle the
+ the highlighted option by TAB, Press Enter there to produce the bug.

Note: This happens only when the nautilus is just started. You cannot
highlight Computer after you have clicked on other directories/links
- in the nautilus. The data on the desktop reappears after opening
- nautilus again and clicking on a link.
+ in the nautilus.

** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu)
