As you can see, after i click on downloads, the files all get squished into a right hand pane that is the same width as the icons. It does this every time without fail. I tried reinstalling but it still happens out of the box. it also happens on my Asus EEE 100he net book and on my wife's macbook pro. On my computer I've had it open up like this several times over the last few days and it did it twice today while I was sorting files on my net book at school. My wife says she hasn't had it open up like this yet. It's really annoying when you are comparing directories in list view because it cuts off the properties list on one side and you have to manually adjusted it only to have it snap back every time you open a file. I never have had this problem until installing 11.10. It happens out of the box in Unity 3d and in Gnome 3.2 Shell after a fresh install. Seems like it's probably just some super simple value that needs to be adjusted in the code some where. Public bug reported: I use ubuntu 10.04. The version of Empathy is 2.30.3-0ubuntu1. after Adding a gtalk account i've enable the account but empathy don't show the contacts list. I've forced to install the version 2.30.0.1-0ubuntu3 of Empathy and Empathy-common with sudo apt-get install empathy-common=2.30.0.1-0ubuntu3 and sudo apt-get install empathy=2.30.0.1-0ubuntu3 but the problem is the same, probably don't depends on this package. Adding another type of account like msn acconut empathy show contacts list and works well. Taking open empathy other contacts see who use empathy and if someone write something to user that use empathy client the chat window appears and works well without change to contacts list that don't appear. I had a similar problem with opening cbt-files. Only cbt files in my home directory would open, and not cbt files on other drives. Checking /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/evince I found the following line under supported file formats: /**.[cC][bB][rRzZ7] r, so I changed that to /**.[cC][bB][rRtTzZ7] r, to account for cbt files as well as cbr, cbz, cb7. I then restarted apparmor: sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor restart and now cbt files work everywhere. I installed another ubuntu based distrib, Ubuntu Studio 11.10 ( witch is XFCE based ) and ran the same issue. But this time, after a lot of test, I get it fixed ; and it was after installing sources from Xorg edgers, and upgrade all xorg package via synaptic ( + restart ) , https://launchpad.net/~xorg- edgers/+archive/ppa . This new upgrades made my system use nouveau/mesa/gallium instead of Nvidia proprietary ( I see it running 'glxinfo' inside a terminal ) ...so, maybe nvidia proprietary driver being guilty. So, I presume I 'sort of' got it fixed ( at least I hope ) and did a 20min painting without any ghost lines problems. I still have to inspect if 3D performances are enough good to run Blender , games , etc... , I don't know a lot this new driver nouveau/mesa/gallium . My experience always lead me to had the reflex to install additional proprietary driver at first start after a fresh install... Public bug reported: When I run 11.10 from live CD both monitors displayed in mirror mode. Went to system settings/Display, unchecked Mirror Displays. Left and right were reversed so switched using drag and drop. Success! [Correctly identified Dell monitor but LG monitor was incorrectly identified as something generic. However, everything was working fine.] Proceeded with installation. (FYI, installed on existing ext4 partition. Boot partition - also ext4 - is not mounted.) Selected to use additional proprietary software. Additional software showed NVIDIA Accelerated Graphics driver (version 173) was installed. Tried (post- release updates)(version 173-update) and (version current) and (post-release updates)(version current-updates) to no avail. Had similar problem at 9.04. Found solution in forum. However, since the live CD installation seems to work, was hoping to avoid having to hack the installation. Should I have chosen to not include the proprietary drivers?
