[Bug 879785] [NEW] open file - picture preview is huge

Public bug reported:

Screenshot:

Picture used to reproduce this bug:
http://i.imgur.com/GU9mC.jpg
To reproduce:
Open Eye of GNOME, press Ctrl+O and select the above image, its preview is
*huge* while it should show just a small preview on the right, just like
firefox does!
Of course it is not reproducible only with this picture but it's just an
example one in case you don't have any with big resolution.

[Bug 629646] Re: Locations using bom.gov.au for forecast data no longer can no longer retrieve forecast data

Excuse my noobness but I didn't think you could use this because Ubuntu 11.10

thought you could only test it with the traditional gnome panel.

I'm not sure if/how David tested it, but you can clearly see from the source
code that it hasn't been fixed:

Alternatively you could see from the logs that the file in particular hasn't

2011-10-22 Thread John Garland
I should mention that the above links are for the latest code i.e.
what's shipped in Gnome 3.2, which currently has no support for applets
so I don't think libgweather is being used at all. There is work being
done on a gnome-shell weather extension, so hopefully when that gets
integrated this patch (or something similar) will get committed as well.

Some of use are using the gnome-session-fallback option because the

[Bug 879500] Re: no Wine entry into open with for exe application

2011-10-22 Thread dino99
Have tried several ways to add wine into the context open with menu,
but still fails to get it.

- mimeapps.list: added into [Default Applications]
application/x-ms-dos-executable=wine.desktop

- /etc/gnome/defaults.list, added:
application/x-extension-exe=wine.desktop

Maybe its an xdg-utils issue.

[Bug 756734] Re: No remote calendars/contacts works in Evolution

2011-10-22 Thread Alexander.Viator
I have a new installation of ubuntu 11.10 with Evolution 3.2.0. Google
contacts never worked for me. Just nothing happens. It's empty and
that's all. It even never asked for password.

I tried numerous times to remove address books in evolution and then as
files and folders. Nothing.

[Bug 664206] Re: SSH_AUTH_SOCK not being properly set: user has to type password even if saved in the password manager

2011-10-22 Thread urusha
This problem still exists in oneiric with default lubuntu setup. SSH_AUTH_SOCK
is point to ssh-agent socket which is started by /etc/X11/Xsession.
Gnome-keyring starts but environment variables are not exported in LXDE/Lubuntu
session. And I can not find the place where it's exported by gnome/unity
session. So the only workaround I found is to add to ~/.profile or somewhere in
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/...:
export `/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --start --components=ssh`

So, I think this should be fixed the way similar to gnome-session, to
allow enabling/disabling it via .config/autostart gui tools.

Evolution also doesn't allow me to delete google address book Could not remove
address book.
I have to use gconf-editor to clear /apps/evolution/addressbook/sources

There is nothing left in the terminal after launching evolution there.

[Bug 879897] [NEW] Pressing Enter in print dialog box will not cause printing

2011-10-22 Thread Nick Rundy
Public bug reported:

Depending on where the focus is in the Print Dialog box, pressing
Enter will fail to cause the printer to print if trying to print from
Firefox or Gedit. Printing from LibreOffice, however, does NOT exhibit
this bug.

To replicate, do the following:
1. open Firefox or Gedit and call up the print dialog box by pressing Ctrl+P or
FilePrint.
2. place the focus either in the Pages: section by specifying to only print
Page 1 or in the Copies: section by requesting that two pages be printed.
3. press Enter. Despite the Print button showing an orange highlight,
pressing Enter will fail to cause the printer to print.

Summation:
-open Firefox and press Ctrl+P
-press Alt+E
-press one (1)
-press Enter = nothing happens

[Bug 844241] Re: Backlight not restored when moving the mouse

2011-10-22 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
Adding lightdm because I've discovered another issue:
1)boot Ubuntu
2)leave pc idle without logging in
3)after 10 minutes (as I've set in screen settings) the screen goes standby
4)I cannot restore backlight even using keyboard shortcut (I think because I'm
not logged in)
5)I've only one user so the focus is on password field, so I can enter the
password although the screen is off
6)As soon the system enter Gnome session I can restore backlight using keyboard
shortcut

Is a strange problem...maybe it affects more modules (ligthdm, gnome-
power-manager, graphic card driver??...), but I cannot reproduce it on
other laptops, does anyone have a tip on how to isolate this bug to help
resolving it?

Thanks

[Bug 774131] Re: 2D GNOME session fails to use wm wrapper script

2011-10-22 Thread Marcus Comstedt
Actually, the situation seems even worse in Oneiric.

1) Neither /usr/bin/gnome-wm nor the /desktop/gnome/session keys exist, so I
can't figure out the intended way to set the window manager for gnome
2) Not only the Ubuntu sessions use metacity, but the special Sawfish
session installed by sawfish _also_ starts metacity...

[Bug 879898] [NEW] [Oniric Ocelot] Wireless fails to connect in 11.10, Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000

2011-10-22 Thread manuhalo
Public bug reported:

Hi, after upgrading to 11.10 wirelss is not working anymore; Wireless
interface is recognized and on, but it fails to authenticate to the
router. It just keeps asking for my WEP password, thinks for a minute or
two, then asks again. Apparently there are other people complaining
about similar issue but I couldn't find a solution yet. Unfortunately I
don't have access to the router right now so I can't use an ethernet
cable to check for updates, this is being written from my Windows
partition. (UPDATE: I downloaded the Oct. 20th daily cd image, it didn't
fix the issue. A clean install didn't solve it either.)

The effect is still the same - no backlight after the screensaver is

[Bug 742544] Re: Launcher is shown on the wrong screen in some multi-monitor setups

2011-10-22 Thread W.John Guineau
This bug is driving me insane. It makes Unity almost unusable for me. I
have two large monitors (24) with my primary display directly in front
of me and the second one angled to the left.

I am very mouse-centric (I use very few keyboard shortcuts) and having
to twist my neck all the way to the left monitor and target the mouse
across two displays just to switch apps, which I do frequently (I am a
software developer and use multiple concurrent apps constantly), is
literally causing me neck pain!

Why can't I just drag the launcher to the top/left/middle of the entire
display surface? That is by far the most intuitive UI behavior and would
solve the launcher placement problem i a way that works for everyone.
In 10.04 I had the launcher on my primary display, which put it in the
middle of my total display surface. I set it in CCSM to not dodge
windows so it always just stayed visible. This was ideal for my
situation. 11.10 has seriously regressed in this regard.

I am trying hard to like Unity, but I am close to installing the gnome
shell and being done with it.

[Bug 879953] Re: gsd-printer crashed with SIGABRT in __kernel_vsyscall()

2011-10-22 Thread Eliah Kagan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 878486 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878486

** Visibility changed to: Public

** Description changed:

On a fully updated Precise i386 system (obtained by replacing oneiric
with precise in sources.list, dist-upgrading, and rebooting) running on
a VMware Workstation 8.0.0 build-471780 virtual machine, with gnome-
  settings-daemon 3.2.1-0ubuntu2, I was informed about 30 seconds after
logging in to a unity-2d session that gsd-printer had crashed with
SIGABRT in __kernel_vsyscall(). Before Apport told me about the crash, I
had inserted the virtual VMware Tools CD (but I had not installed VMware
Tools), and I had opened a Nautilus window, but I doubt either of those
things is related to the crash.
+
+ I do not have any printers attached to the affected (virtual) machine.
+ (By default, a VMware virtual machine is created with a virtual printer
+ device, but I deleted this device before the first boot of the virtual
+ machine.) There are also no printers attached to the host machine, which
+ runs Oneiric amd64 with kernel 3.0.0-12-generic.

I suspect this is a duplicate of bug 878065 (which would indicate that
bug 878065 affects Precise as well as Oneiric). The forthcoming
automated symbolic retrace should make it possible to determine that
  with adequate certainty.
