[Bug 881257] [NEW] brasero doesn't burn
Public bug reported: I'm using ubuntu 11.10 on dell inspiron 4030 intel architecture, i've tried several times using brasero since 10.10 and it seems burning on ubuntu is never a choice. The burning process is going fine, i selected the minimum speed 10x for data cd option then after the burning process completed, the app tried ejecting the cd tray and the error message appeared stating i need to eject the tray, when i ejected the tray, another message appeared saying the burning process is not finished(somehow i forgot the response message but it's something like that), and when i ejected the cd tray and reinserted it hoping that the autoplay appears and load the file, in fact, nothing happened and when i checked the cd, there's no track seen on the cd!! [Bug 879793] Re: No GTK theme applied on login, should be Ambiance
Reproduced the bug again after about 5 more attempts. The common factor when the bug occurs is this message: (gnome-settings-daemon:2108): Gdk-WARNING **: The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 1265 error_code 8 request_code 3 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) ** Attachment added: xsession-errors.notheme2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/879793/+attachment/2571236/+files/xsession-errors.notheme2 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/879793 Title: No GTK theme applied on login, should be Ambiance To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/879793/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 881263] [NEW] Nautilus and desktop icons change theme to gray after closing Opera browser
Public bug reported: This bug is tested with clean installation of Ubuntu 11.10 x86 and also 64bit. Without any additional software, no additional GFX drivers, clean install with added Opera browser. After using of Opera browser for 10-30 minutes, and after closing Opera, Nautilus icons, desktop icons and desktop font colors are changed. Nautilus get gray theme, it seems like all icons are gray and all icons looks the same. As empty paper gray icon. Also toolbar of Nautilus get changed to gray. This happens unexpectedly and unpredictably. One thing is certain that after using Opera for some time and turning off the Opera this will definitely happen. I also try to not use Opera software for whole day and then this problem never occur. Adter that I also install PCManFM. This app stay unchanged, only Nautilus change theme. This bug was also confirmed in one forum by other user, also in combination with latest Ubuntu 11.10 and latest Opera browser. Thank you. Re: [Bug 786317] Re: wacom intuous3 often fails to draw stroke (release click not recognised?)
Gimp 2.7.3 has been great to me. It has some AWESOME new features, especially for tablet users. Biggest on my list is a really amazing mapping matrix. You can check mappings and draw out graphs outlining the interaction between the effects. A lot of people are apparently pretty excited about the single window mode (I could care less, but whatever). I was reluctant to jump in on it, but I have had zero problems with it so far (and have been using, at least here and there, for a couple months). There is definitely quite a soup of technologies going around here. I'll try to help clarify to the best of my understanding (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Gnome is a desktop environment. Up till now, most distros have been using Gnome 2. However, Gnome 3 is now in action, and there are some great new features that come along with it. It has been designed to be more flexible and modular, as well as modern (from a technical perspective). Gnome Shell is a desktop environment built on top of Gnome 3 (it can be thought of as a shell around it), and does so in order to bring a more modern flavor/experience (think moving in the same general direction as Unity, but along a different route). Unity too is now built on Gnome 3 (as of Ocelot -- if I'm not mistaken). Ubuntu Classic was what came up when trying to switch desktop versions to the non-unity Gnome when logging into Ubuntu on 11.4. This interface is also called Gnome Panel, and is now basically the fallback for Gnome when Gnome Shell cannot be loaded. Both Metacity and Compiz are window managers. One of the most fundamental distinctions is that Compiz is a compositing window manager, which basically means that it can take advantage of graphics cards and such in order to produce all kinds of effects quickly. Unity is effectively based on compiz. Gnome did use Metacity by default, but now uses Mutter (built on Clutter) for the Gnome Shell. I'm not sure if in Fallback/Panel mode it still uses Metacity or not. Bottom line - to install gnome shell and the classic gnome do the following sudo apt-get install gnome-shell sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback You should then have the Gnome Shell and Gnome Panel options when you click the little gear on logging into Ubuntu. Best Chris On Tue, Oct 25, 2011 at 1:00 AM, Andrew Kay 786...@bugs.launchpad.netwrote: I'll have to get back to you on these. I'm still using gimp 2.6, mainly out of cowardice. meanwhile, I don't know the difference between gnome gnome shell ubuntu classic unity compiz metacity -- some of them are window managers, some are something else. It's confusing and I haven't seen anything that clearly explains what is what or the official way to choose between them in ubuntu. [Bug 876788] Re: Many users upgrading from 11.04 or eariler will be unable to open trash; flash drives if using Classic session places in nautilus
ok, after having a serious look, it seems to me that GNOME dropped it in nautilus 3 because they don't support anymore the nautilus showing desktop mode and so don't need a .desktop file running nautilus --no-desktop. Anyway, it seems that just running nautilus %U do the right thing this option on or off and exit nautilus when it's needed, so I think we should just use the nautilus desktop file again for this mimetype. [Bug 881376] [NEW] Low disk space warning popping up repeatedly.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: On Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot. Since that upgrade, I repeatedly get the warning Low Disk Space The volume ... has only [..] MB disk space remaining. This is for a few Windows partitions on a multiboot machine, which I mount by default on Linux startup. The problem: - I could not care less about disk space on these partitions, while on Linux. I want to take care of them while on Windows. - The dialog is showing up repeatedly for the same disk. - It's a disruptive popup dialog, instead of being a more subtle bubble notification (this is being discussed in a feature request somewhere on launchpad). - The Don't show any warnings again for this file system does not have any effect. Yes, it does change a setting somewhere in system settings, but the popup will show up nevertheless. - Trying to change the threshold or the exclude directories via system settings did not help either. - I did not find how to uninstall or disable this new feature. This is just one of the many things that make the new 11.10 a horrible experience for me. ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Low disk space warning popping up repeatedly. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881376 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
