[Bug 558674] Re: Open file dialog malfunctions in lucid
Walter, I just read that document. I need to be a computer scientist just to decipher that thing. I am not a community member, coder, or someone with the time to follow all that procedure. Look, I'm just a poor LTS user. I bought into the whole promise of Ubuntu that while LTS is supposed to lack new features, it would fix critical bugs. This is a critical bug with LTS. It's been fixed upstream. It causes the file open dialog to behave in an erratic and potentially harmful way. And no one is willing to bring it back to LTS? If there isn't a regular Ubuntu dev, whether paid or volunteer, who recognizes how important this bug is, then I give up on Ubuntu. Even worse, if you do recognize how important this bug is to fix, but lack the willingness to put your expertise into use for 2 minutes to follow that procedure of which you just spoke, then I give up on Ubuntu even worse. This isn't a case of an unknown random bug which can't be reproduced, it is the case of a bug which has been recognized by upstream and for which there is a specific patch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/558674 Title: Open file dialog malfunctions in lucid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/558674/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 861443] Re: There is no easy way to change proxy settings in Ubuntu 11.10
MrCopilot; We understand your frustration. Ignoring hosts for proxy is something that tends to be useful, but perhaps it was deemed not as frequently used as the other functions by upstream developers, which is why it's no longer exposed in the UI (which is something Ubuntu gets from upstream, so it applies to all distributions using Gnome3). As you undoubtedly have noticed, the option is still available via command-line, as such: gsettings set org.gnome.system.proxy ignore-hosts ['localhost', '127.0.0.0/8', 'some.other.host'] However, the issue you're describing is something different than not being able to change proxy settings at all. As such, I'd like to invite you to file a new, separate bug report that covers *precisely and only* exposing ignore-hosts in UI. We can then send this report to the upstream developers at GNOME (alternatively, you can just file the bug there directly (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)). This way it will run the best chance of being taken care of by developers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/861443 Title: There is no easy way to change proxy settings in Ubuntu 11.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/861443/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 882720] [NEW] Automatic library rescan should not be performed on startup
Public bug reported: It seems that Rhythmbox automatically rescans the library on startup, which takes some time and makes a lot of disk noise. With rescan functionality, Rhythmbox is better than Banshee which ignores any library changes like missing items. I think, the optimal solution is to to turn off the automatic rescan by default and make a Rescan library button. The rest of rescan process should remain the same (after library rescanning, the missing items should be moved to Missing items section, where unneeded songs can be manually removed; on the next rescan, songs from Missing items that have become available, should be moved back to the library, the others should remain in Missing items). ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882720 Title: Automatic library rescan should not be performed on startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/882720/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 855967] Re: vinagre crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast()
So vinaigre crashed (Ubuntu 11.04) and sent me through the bug reporting process, collecting 50MB of reporting information and uploading it all. Here in Launchpad, I was offered two similar crashes and asked if either matched mine. Of course one did, so I chose it. As far as I can tell, Launchpad then threw away all my uploaded crash report tracing info and simply added my name to the this affects me count. Now that I open up this bug, I see that it is Incomplete requiring a useful symbolic stack trace. For all I know, my crash had one, but Launchpad in its wisdom threw away my stack trace when it decided that my crash was similar to this one. Shouldn't Launchapd *always* upload the additional crash report info for developers to look at, rather than throwing it away, especially for bugs marked Incomplete - need stack trace? [Bug 882720] Re: Automatic library rescan should not be performed on startup
** Description changed: + Ubuntu 11.10 (amd64) + rhythmbox 2.90.1~20110908-0ubuntu1 + It seems that Rhythmbox automatically rescans the library on startup, which takes some time and makes a lot of disk noise. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882720 Title: Automatic library rescan should not be performed on startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/882720/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
