[Bug 892958] Re: Ubuntu 11.10 Unity 2D glitches and sometimes freezes when using work space switcher
Thanks for your bug report. I'll package this against metacity so we can get an apport hook, but I'm not exactly sure what handles work space switching in a 2d session. So we can get some detailed system information attached to this report, though, could you please run the following command in a terminal from your unity-2d session: apport-collect 892958 Also, could you describe the freeze that you sometimes experience? Is it a hard freeze? Will the system respond to keyboard input (ctrl+alt+delete, etc)? ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New = Incomplete ** Tags added: oneiric ** Package changed: ubuntu = metacity (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/892958 Title: Ubuntu 11.10 Unity 2D glitches and sometimes freezes when using work space switcher To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/892958/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 892989] [NEW] org.gnome.desktop.media-handling.automount-open should be set to false by default in gnome-shell
Public bug reported: In Oneiric, org.gnome.desktop.media-handling.automount-open is set to true by default, which causes removable medias to open a new nautilus window when inserted. This might be the desired behaviour in Unity, but it's wrong in gnome-shell because gnome-shell already displays a notification asking whether the user wants to open a nautilus window. This is redondant with the automatic opening of the window. There is no proxy option in the program also. I tried connecting to empathy from Ubuntu 11.10 in three systems behind a proxy server and in all cases it failed. [Bug 892585] Re: Reliably crashes (segmentation fault) when opening User Accounts
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 893086] [NEW] Sending mail happens in the foreground
Public bug reported: In the previous version the mail sending happened in the background. You clicked on the sending, and got back the main window. You have been subscribed to a public bug: I think if an application wants to use a partition (for example for downloading or uploading something) and that partition is unmounted, the system should try to mount it, and if permission is granted it will be able to, if it needs extra privileges, it will fail of course. [Bug 892755] Re: not any icons for directory and files since updates
There is .xsession-errors.txt attached to the bug but I can upload a new .xsession-errors when I will be at home. The bug doesn't happen all the time. It's a local login and not a guest session. In the same session, the icons can disappear and then re-appear after a few minutes. I installed ubuntu 11.10 (I re-formatted the system partion). The home partition wasn't re-formatted. The old version is the same version: ubuntu 11.10 and before it, it was ubuntu 11.04. After installation, I updapted to all disponible updates and I install some programs. [Bug 500417] Re: nautilus doesn't honor gnome theme
More specifically, sometimes after a wake-up my entire theme is wrong, and it looks like a default Gnome theme has been applied. I see this intermittently as well. I'm using 11.04 Classic on a Dell laptop. [Bug 893199] [NEW] Dictionary Look Up Applet missing in Oneiric
Public bug reported: The dictionary look up applet seems to be totally missing in 11.10! This was one of my most-used utilities. The package description for gnome-dictionary says that the applet is included it it, but I can find nothing relating to the applet in the listing of the package contents. What happened??? [Bug 893197] [NEW] timezone map no longer allows reliable selection of the correct zone
Public bug reported: In precise, when I click on the Time Date Settings from the datetime indicator, I'm presented with a timezone map. Clicking in the general area of Iowa/Illinois, US, which is firmly in the US/Central timezone, results in Vincennes being selected as my timezone - which is wrong, Vincennes is in Eastern time and the highlighted region is clearly not where my mouse pointer was! moving slightly to the left and clicking again, while staying in the right area for the Central timezone, I now get Denver selected, which is one timezone to the WEST of what should be selected. If I move my mouse up into Minnesota and click, I get Rainy River, which is in the right general timezone but in the wrong country ( == DST rules are not guaranteed to be the same). Clicking again at the same point does no good - it does not cycle through the cities in this timezone band, only continues to present me with the same wrong zone. By trial and error, moving the cursor a pixel at a time and clicking again, I'm ultimately able to choose Chicago. This UI is completely unusable. I know it didn't work this poorly in oneiric, so something seems to have regressed upstream. [Bug 893197] Re: timezone map no longer allows reliable selection of the correct zone
Seb points out that the indicator-datetime hasn't changed since oneiric so this is not likely to be a regression. [Bug 645055] Re: Cannot copy a data disc using Brasero. Gives internal error occurred
This bug seems like a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/500073. Could the original poster verify if installing the package icedax fixes the issue? (in a terminal: sudo apt-get install icedax) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/645055 Title: Cannot copy a data disc using Brasero.
