I also have this problem. I've noticed that if I turn off background

is a video card related issue? (using Nvidia video card)

[Bug 876839] Re: Proxy GUI in 11.10 does not configure socks proxy for HTTP traffic

2011-11-22 Thread Johan sjöberg
Ok so following the advice on gconf and dconf it seems like system wide
settings work for chrome, and that is about it. Firefox, spotify etc.
all need to be updated in their respective settings.

Also this problem means I am unable to run VPN as it depends on system
wide setting of proxy works. Sorry to say it but the lack of progress on
this issue since the release will probably lead me to change to Windows
7. Ubuntu has become all to unreliable for professional use when it
comes to proxy settings and working in a corporate environment.

This also means no one at work will upgrade to 11.10, and likely it is
end of life for Ubuntu at our workplace. Best of luck.

[Bug 856312] Re: Cant set resolution with two monitors

2011-11-22 Thread Mattias Backman
I can confirm that this is still a problem in the released Oneric. I did
get the exact same errors when using a dual monitor setup. Installing
the updated with jockey also failed.

The only solution I have found is the one Tony posted to uninstall fglrx
and reinstall some other packages. Thanks, now I have dual monitors
working again.

Yes, this is still an issue for me. Yes it is reproducible - I just have

start looking.

[Bug 893521] [NEW] gedit does not detect replaced open file

2011-11-22 Thread Nedim Srndic
Public bug reported:

Hello,

You can reproduce this bug like this:
1. make two test files with the same name, but in two different directories and
with different content
2. make sure one of them is older than the other (in terms of creation and
modification time, I didn't test which of those matters)
3. open the newer file in gedit (do NOT close gedit from this point on)
4. move the newer file to a different location
5. move the older file to be in the same directory where the newer file was in
step 3
6. double click the older file in a file manager, the gedit window shows the
contents of the newer file, i.e., it does not show the usual File contents
changed on disk, reload or cancel? question.

Thank you!

After logging back in, I was greeted with the attached screenshot. No,

to), all I did was reboot, then type my password at LightDM and got that
dialog box.

[Bug 893521] Re: gedit does not detect replaced open file

2011-11-22 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
I tried to reproduce, and in step 6 I get gedit showing the older file,
and saying:

This file (/location/test1.txt) is already open in another gedit window.
gedit opened this instance of the file i a non-editable way. Do you want to
edit anyway?

It shows the content of the old file as it should.

I don't see any unexpected behavior here.

Very similar, related to bug #209513 After upgrade, Update standard
folders to current language threatens to rename your home folder. The
part that particularly concerns me about this is the prompt to rename

I followed up with the reporter via IRC. The datestamp on the file is:

[Bug 893356] Re: Green screen when playing videos

2011-11-22 Thread mmiicc
I was able to fix this using this guide:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2896078postcount=2
Quote:
“It is a known bug and there is a workaround by changing the video output
device on your video player.

* GStreamer (The default video player in Ubuntu, totem-gstreamer, and any video
player that is based on the gstreamer backend)
o Open a terminal and type gstreamer-properties. Press Enter.
o Click the Video tab.
o Under Default Video Plugin select X Window System (No Xv).
o Click Test to verify that video playback is working (you should be able to
see the standard TV testing colour stripes).
o Click Close ”

[Bug 879923] Re: No file transfers possible with cell phones, regression since oneiric alpha

2011-11-22 Thread Simone Lussardi
Hello Guys, are you going to do something about this ? Need any help
with it ? Is pretty much embarassing... For me personally, I cannot
mount my phone or any other devices over Bluetooth, so even Gammu is not
working (to backup phone data), and have to resort back to 1920s USB
cable connection.

Downloaded daily build of 12.04 LTS today and much to my disappointment
I can see that the bug is still there, rendering Bluetooth almost
totally useless. Tried to report the bug but ubuntu-bug failed with an
error message... oh well...

[Bug 42629] Re: EOG crashes on SVG images created with OpenOffice.org Draw

2011-11-22 Thread Adrian Wilkins
I ran into this one with some SVG images generated by graphviz from dot
files.

My problem was even more extreme ; the entire X server crashed, taking
my session and all my open applications with it. IMHO that makes it more
than a minor bug - anything that can crash your X server can cause you
to lose significant amounts of work.

This happens reliably on both SVG and PNG images generated by the dot
utility from the same file. The image is 4344x11893 pixels.

The SVG will open harmlessly in Inkscape. The PNG opens harmlessly in
GIMP. The thumbnail generator in nautilus creates a thumbnail for both
without causing problems.

Therefore I'm inclined to blame eog for the problem. Note especially
that the problem happens with PNG and not just SVG.

[Bug 765123] Re: Group membership is not saved on client restart.

2011-11-22 Thread Utku Erdoğdu
I guess if the intention were to read and display groups without
changing them, there would not be an 'add group' feature at all or it
would not be possible to change groups by dragdrop.

The problem might be related to libfolks. I think libfolks use all
backends read only and if the change group operation is implemented
through libfolks, nothing will be updated at the backend server.

[Bug 228370] Re: vino-server doesn't accept IPv4 connections when local only is checked

2011-11-22 Thread Sean Cavanaugh
is this actually fixed? I did a yum update vino and it says there is
nothing to update, I am running on Fedora 13 and this is till funding to
the ipv6 only address (do a lsof -i -P | grep -i listen) and you can
see its binding to the ipv6 only and not the ipv4... can someone link me
to how to update vino correctly?

[Bug 892755] Re: not any icons for directory and files since updates

2011-11-22 Thread Bott
I think I had not the bug during the last session. I do not know how the file
xsession-errors: Is there only logd the session in this file?
It is possible that the bug occurs when connecting to a webcam or an external
hard drive or when I unmount a Samba mounting because I often do that. I
don't use the resume system.
I have another problem (which is perhaps related) if I let my webcam connected
at boot time: the sound is blocked.

[Bug 893789] [NEW] gvfs fuse mount is not functional after logout and subsequent login

2011-11-22 Thread Lox
Public bug reported:

If I logout and log back in, the .gvfs forlder doesn't exists anymore,
so I can't access mounted volumes from it. The workaround is to type
those commands in terminal:

$ fusermount -u ~/.gvfs
$ /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-fuse-daemon ~/.gvfs

I dunno if that bug is related #212789 but as it as been set to fixed
some time ago, I have created that new bug.

[Bug 484429] Re: Plugging in a LUKS device causes the following error: Error unlocking device: cryptsetup exited with exit code 239: Command failed: Device already exists

2011-11-22 Thread airtonix
I created an excrypted sdcard with palimpset.

1) Plug in a LUKS encrypted disk
2) At the password prompt unlock it (Disk will mount and be displayed on the
desktop)
3) Suspend computer
4) Remove sdcard
5) On resume, no errors
6) Insert encrypted sdcard from step 4)
7) Prompted to enter password for device.
8) Error unlocking device: cryptsetup exited with exit code 239 error is
shown.
9) sdcard is never mounted.
