[Bug 960296] [NEW] gedit doesn't allow me to save modify of my file on sshfs if no checked backup before save.

2012-03-20 Thread Andrea Dalessandro
Public bug reported:

STEP TO REPRODUCE THE BUG:

1) mount a remote file system on my server using sshfs (sshfs us...@server.it
/mnt/server)
id userx gid 1001 dev groupss=1001(dev),1002,(data)

TEST 01:
-- CHECK Create backup before to save
-- open a remote text file (e.g. -rwxrwx--- usery dev /mnt/server/test2.txt)
edit it and save: no problem.

TEST 02:
-- CHECK Create backup before to save
-- open a remote text file (e.g. -rwxrwx--- userx dev /mnt/server/test1.txt)
edit it and save: no problem.

TEST 03:
-- UNCHECK Create backup before to save
-- open a remote text file (e.g. -rwxrwx--- usery dev /mnt/server/test2.txt)
edit it and save: no problem.

TEST 04:
-- UNCHECK Create backup before to save
-- open a remote text file (e.g. -rwxrwx--- userx dev /mnt/server/test1.txt)
edit it and save: gedit says I haven't right to save file.

[Bug 960518] [NEW] Can't unlock with second keyboard layout

2012-03-20 Thread Michael Terry
Public bug reported:

Steps for me to reproduce:

0) Start with user with English layout, and English password
1) Go to System Settings - Keyboard Layout
2) Add an Afghani layout (not specific to Afghani, it's just at the top)
3)‌ Move the Afghani layout to be above the English one
4)‌ Lock your screen
5)‌Try to log back in, but fail regardless of whether you toggle layout button
on right of entry

You can work around it by clicking the Switch User button and logging in
through unity-greeter (though it has a display bug in it's prompt when
the language is RTL, which is a separate bug I'll file).

[Bug 959780] Re: Password should be encrypted in gnome keyring

2012-03-20 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
I'm sorry for the confusion, i misinterpreted the way Canonical had set up
Ubuntu One, they don't actually store passwords, they use OAuth tokens and SSO,
thereby storing a private token on your computer.
Again, i apologize for the mistake, and am marking this as an invalid bug.

[Bug 960542] [NEW] HUD doesn't work for view - dual.

2012-03-20 Thread tririver
Public bug reported:

When pressing Alt to use HUD, then input dual, choose view - dual
(either even or odd page left), the document becomes dual page view for
less than one second, and then immediately switch to single page view
again.

Note:

(1) HUD runs fine for some other options in evince, for example, invert
color, and a lot of other things.

(2) If I don't use HUD, but instead directly choose view - dual from
menu, it works fine.

developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

outdated debug symbol package for libcolord1: package version 0.1.16-2
dbgsym version 0.1.12-1ubuntu2.1

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 945097] Re: Lack of global menu and right-click menu with Nautilus

2012-03-20 Thread ojordan
Quick update. So there is no ./config/menus directory. I did try
deleting the ./config directory which is some other advice I found. I
also tried setting various environment variables.

I did get the nautilus global menu working once more. Still no right-
click menu on the file icons, but right-clicking on the space inbetween
gave a small menu. Clicking on preferences in the Edit global menu
caused nautilus to close and I haven't had menus since. I can't find
how to get them back again. Grrr Oh and gedit didn't have menus,
even when nautilus did.

[Bug 956654] Re: [power]: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in engine_update_composite_device()

2012-03-20 Thread jerrylamos
My crash:
[power]: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in
g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__OBJECTv()

has been marked as a duplicate to this one. I wasn't doing anyting with
time and date.

The title of this bug:
[power]: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in
engine_update_composite_device()
does show up in the ThreadStacktrace.txt while in
g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__OBJECTv() didn't.

Anyway, pangolin continued to run so it wasn't a showstopper.

Thanks for your attention to these bugs.

[Bug 412845] Re: gvfsd-trash crashed with SIGSEGV in async_ready_callback_wrapper()

2012-03-20 Thread Blair Chasteen
This just happened to me in 12.04 Precise. I accidently click on move
to trash in Rhythmbox so I right clicked on the trash can on the Unity
sidebar and it gave me this exact error.

On a side note I never emptied the trash but when I went into Nautilus
immediatly after I right clicked on the file and then clicked on restore
it said the file did not exist. I assume that has something to do with
a cache write being out of sync because not more than 1 min later the
file was able to be restored properly

[Bug 960630] [NEW] Cannot burn Ubuntu Installation CD

2012-03-20 Thread Pallav Negi
Public bug reported:

System Information
-
* Ubuntu 11.10 machine (32-bit)
* Brasero 3.2.0-0ubuntu1.1

Description
--
I wanted to create an Ubuntu installation CD. I downloaded the Ubuntu 11.10 ISO
file but Brasero could not burn it to a blank CD because it thinks the file is
too big (download size is 695 MB, my file manager Nautilus 3.2.1 reports it as
729.1 MB). K3b is able to burn the disc so I know it is a Brasero issue.

Steps to Recreate Issue
--
* Download the Ubuntu 11.10 ISO from
http://www.ubuntu.com/start-download?distro=desktopbits=32release=latest
- The download manager in Firefox says the download is 695 MB
- The downloaded file shows as 729.1 MB in Nautilus
* Insert a blank 700 MB CD into the CD-write drive
* Right click on the downloaded file and select Write to Disc...
* A Brasero window pops up and says that the file is too big to write on the
disc even with overburn
* Close the Brasero window and attempt to write the file using K3b. K3b reports
the file as 695 MB and writes it to the CD.

Problem: Brasero is the default disc-writing software that comes with
Ubuntu and one would expect it to be able to create an Ubuntu
installation disc without issues.

[Bug 959868] Re: Please respect the meaning of the word Eject

2012-03-20 Thread David Bensimon

SD - User inserts/clicks the card into reader. After **Unmounting** the card,
the user must pull/click the card out
USB - User inserts the drive into USB socket. After **Safely Removing** the
drive, the user must pull the drive out

Both exceed the capacity of a CD and a test with Brasero shows that a

[Bug 838792] Re: Restart logs out, even when there are no other people logged in

2012-03-20 Thread Daniel Ricao Canelhas
I've never had automatic login enabled. so #24 isn't solving it for me.

the entire contents of my lightdm.conf is:

[SeatDefaults]
greeter-session=unity-greeter
user-session=ubuntu

I get logged out pretty much every time I request a shutdown/restart. It
reminds me a lot of how fedora works where you log out first and then
shut down from the greet menu. Maybe it's just a simple matter of
changing the name of the button to log-out ;)

laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A200. I think the detect for low
battery is a little too sensitive - need to increase a timer somewhere
as Ubuntu sees a power blip when the DC is removed.

[Bug 960769] [NEW] screen output fails periodically when window is small

2012-03-20 Thread karl anliot
Public bug reported:

running ubuntu precise
$ apt-cache policy libvte9
libvte9:
  Installed: 1:0.28.2-3ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:0.28.2-3ubuntu1

I expect each command I type to output in libvte (. however, the output seems
to pause, although it resumes immediately the next time I type something. so
even typing a sentence, some keypresses are not reflected to the screen.
also, the output of some commands is hidden. (until the next output)

this problem only occurs when the terminal window is small. when I have
the terminal window maximized, it never occurs.

So it's like the post office holding some of my mail, until the next
time i get a letter. Like they can't bother delivering every letter,
only 95% of them, but they deliver all off them if I get mail delivered
at regular intervals.
