[Bug 967471] Re: eog 3.2.1 doesn't display raw files

2012-03-31 Thread crf
I got nautilus to display raw files.

So it is just an eog issue now.

---
I tried building and installing libopenraw from freedesktop.org.

If I run gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders I get in the output:

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gdk-
pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libopenraw_pixbuf.so

and I ran

gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache

And now eog displays RAW, but in a corrupted fashion. The colours are
all wrong.

Perhaps I did something wrong in building, or I see why this is not
enabled on Ubuntu.

---

But why, as eog displayed my raw files fine in Ubuntu 11.04, was it all
changed?

Still the same problem : as the master report is private, how to know if this
one is really a dupe or not ? and how to follow its activity ?
This private status is a madness, only the private data inside the bug
report should be hidden because of the private data, but not the whole report.

[Bug 969844] [NEW] gnome-terminal window content disappearing

2012-03-31 Thread Csipak Attila
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start gnome-terminal.

2. Start Rhythmbox in debug mode:

# rhythmbox -d

3. Start playback in Rhythmbox. (Maybe this is optional, maybe not. I
guess this ensures that fresh output is sent to the gnome-terminal
window continuosly, which may help to reproduce the bug.)

4. Switch back to gnome-terminal: the main part of the terminal window
goes blank. If this step doesn't produce the bug, try walking around a
bit on the desktop, switching windows, minimizing the terminal window
etc. Also, when the bug appears, maximizing or resizing back the gnome-
terminal window will make the debug output reappear. Walking a bit
around the open windows, then returning to gnome-terminal may reproduce
the bug again and again.

[Bug 969855] [NEW] rhythmbox stops playback every now and then, mostly at the start of a new song

2012-03-31 Thread Csipak Attila
Public bug reported:

I'm playing back a long playlist (~1000 titles) in Rhythmbox, made up of
mp3's and some ogg files. Every now and then, playback stops, and
nothing happens, until I manually make Rhythmbox jump to the next track,
then everything returns to normal.

It happens once in about every ~15-30 minutes (~4-10 songs).

Crossfading is disabled.

The playing is mostly stopped at the very beginning of a new song. I
noticed a single occasion, when it stopped after playing 15-20 secs of a
song.

Tried to run from terminal using rhythmbox -d, but it didn't show
anything useful (at least not for me). The only thing to note is that
the last output line(s) address the previously played file, not the one
the pausing happens in.

Couldn't pinpoint anything else, sorry. If there's any other information
I can produce about the bug, ask and I will see to it.

[Bug 952171] Re: empathy-accounts crashed with SIGSEGV in empathy_account_settings_get_icon_name()

2012-03-31 Thread pvagner
I believe Iþve got this crash too.
I can often reproduce it by loading empathy from the menu icons e.g. from the
desktop menu. When the contact list window comes up I am pressing F4 for
openning the accounts dialog and the accounts dialog doesnþt appear but I
usually get this crash.
I am afraid the key point is that you need to have accessibility support
enabled in order to reproduce this. Iþm running orca if that helps in narowing
the steps.
I have run update manager on friday evenning. Iþve installed ubuntu 12.04 live
from 22nd of march.

[Bug 969657] Re: No way to empty trash in gnome-fallback

2012-03-31 Thread ckx
I think there are a lot of users with limited disk space who need to
empty the trash, I certainly do. I think the gnome-panel developers
would do new users a favour by replacing the workspace-switcher with a
trashcan (I've never used the multiple workspaces). My $0.02.

[Bug 969855] Re: rhythmbox stops playback every now and then, mostly at the start of a new song

2012-03-31 Thread Csipak Attila
** Description changed:

I'm playing back a long playlist (~1000 titles) in Rhythmbox, made up of
mp3's and some ogg files. Every now and then, playback stops, and
nothing happens, until I manually make Rhythmbox jump to the next track,
  then everything returns to normal.

It happens once in about every ~15-30 minutes (~4-10 songs).

  Crossfading is disabled.

The playing is mostly stopped at the very beginning of a new song. I
noticed a single occasion, when it stopped after playing 15-20 secs of a
  song.

- Tried to run from terminal using rhythmbox -d, but it didn't show
- anything useful (at least not for me). The only thing to note is that
- the last output line(s) address the previously played file, not the one
- the pausing happens in.
-
- Couldn't pinpoint anything else, sorry. If there's any other information
- I can produce about the bug, ask and I will see to it.

2012-03-31 Thread Csipak Attila
Clipped output of rhythmbox -d 2 rhythmbox_debug.txt

At about 12:55:51, the last correctly played title is seen for a couple
of lines, and then the problematic title should start, but instead it
stays halted at 0:00.

At 13:12:03 something interesting also happens, as Rhythmbox jumps to
the next title.

[Bug 966147] Re: no longer displays saved PDF form content

2012-03-31 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
'whohas' revealed some interesting packaging issues in recent evince
releases:

$ whohas evince-common | grep ubuntu | grep 3\. | awk {'print $3,$4,$5'}
3.2.0-0ubuntu1 455K http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/evince-common
3.2.1-0ubuntu2.2 2M http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric-updates/evince-common
3.4.0-0ubuntu1 464K http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/evince-common

Given these, I chose to test with 3.2.0-0ubuntu1 on Precise:

$ LC_ALL=C sudo apt-get install evince-common/oneiric evince/oneiric
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Selected version '3.2.0-0ubuntu1' (Ubuntu:11.10/oneiric [all]) for
'evince-common'
Selected version '3.2.0-0ubuntu1' (Ubuntu:11.10/oneiric [i386]) for 'evince'
Selected version '3.2.0-0ubuntu1' (Ubuntu:11.10/oneiric [i386]) for
'libevince3-3' because of 'evince'
Selected version '0.16.7-2ubuntu2' (Ubuntu:11.10/oneiric [i386]) for
'libpoppler-glib6' because of 'libevince3-3'
The following extra packages will be installed:
  libevince3-3 libnautilus-extension1 libpoppler-glib6 libpoppler13
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libnautilus-extension1 libpoppler-glib6 libpoppler13
The following packages will be DOWNGRADED:
  evince evince-common libevince3-3
0 upgraded, 3 newly installed, 3 downgraded, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.

Installing this older version from Oneiric (and the above dependencies)
on Precise did not restore normal operation.

[Bug 966147] Re: no longer displays saved PDF form content

2012-03-31 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Correction. Downgrading as above does restore normal operation. However,
it required re-editing the document content:

After clicking on the field, cutting its content away, closing the
field, pasting the content back in, saving the document and re-opening
it, the content displays as expected.

[Bug 966147] Re: no longer displays saved PDF form content

2012-03-31 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
One detail that I just noticed is that while downgrading allows to save
form content again and to display it properly, there remains one
(presumably font-related issue): the checkmarks in checkboxes (e.g.
check all the following cases that apply) appear as boxes indicating a
missing glyph in the font used to display the document. This wasn't an
issue on Oneiric.

[Bug 970079] [NEW] Creating event in evolution with google calender gives error

2012-03-31 Thread ilmondo
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu precise (development branch)
Release:12.04

When i add an event in evolution on an external google calender
(connection works and all is set up correctly) on saving the event i get
the error

Impossibile creare l'oggetto di calendario: Il calendario non esiste (italian)
Impossible to create object in calender: Clender does not exist (i hope this is
the right translation)

Th event is not visible but it is created veryfying it on my smartphone
and othe machines.

So i have to abort and not save the modification. Without further
actions the event keeps existing and i can also view it in thunderbird
lightning.

By the way. Thunderbird is full integrated but with the calender i have
still to use evolution ?? isn't it strange ??

[Bug 964295] [NEW] Laptop logs out when running on battery

2012-03-31 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hey guys,

I have a strange problem. Whenever I try to run my computer on battery
power it will log me out after only a few minutes and I will be back at
the login screen. The computer runs fine when connected to AC power. I
am running 11.10 on a MSI GT660 with a i7 740 and 6GB of RAM. I have
never had this problem with any other Linux distros and am kind of at a
loss. I hate running my WIn 7 install, but it is the only way that I can
use my laptop without plugging it in.

Let me know if you need any additional info and I will do my best to
provide it.

Thank you,

SYSTEM INFO
Make: MSI
Model: GT660-003US
Processor: Intel i7-740 Quad Core
RAM: 6GB DDR3
OS: Ubuntu 11.10

Steps required to recreate problem:
All i have to do is unplug the laptop and open any program, or let it sit for a
few minutes and everything will crash and I will be brought back to the login
screen.

[Bug 970108] [NEW] File operations dialog shows incorrect information in Precise

2012-03-31 Thread Jakub Budiský
Public bug reported:

When copying or moving multiple large files with nautilus, you can see
there is a confusing counter. From beginning it shows Copying/Moving
file 0 of X and it ends with Copying/Moving file (X-1) of X.

I think this is caused by indexing arrays and other similar structures
(starting from 0), in this case it is correct to show index+1 for the
counter.

I'm not sure, if there is same problem for other file operations, such
as deleting and other, I didn't have sample files for trying that, and,
honestly, I'm not sure how many similar dialogs for file operations
nautilus provides.

For reproduce this bug, simply copy or move multiple files (have to be
larger to notice).

I'm using Ubuntu Precise (12.04) and nautilus 1:3.4.0-0ubuntu1

[Bug 830404] [NEW] Proposed removal of GNOME Classic desktop would be a serious usability and accessibility regression

2012-03-31 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/739812/comments/5 ,
Mark Shuttleworth said,

... we have the Classic desktop fallback in Natty, but will not in
Oneiric.

This is worrying. Any attempt to remove support for the Classic desktop
is likely to cause serious problems for many Ubuntu users, either
because Unity doesn't work on their hardware for some reason, or because
they just don't like it -- and it's abundantly clear that many people
don't like it.

For the purpose of this bug, it doesn't really matter why people don't
like Unity or why it breaks for them. (In my case, it's because I have a
4480x1440 total display area, for which many of the tablet-oriented
design decisions in Unity make absolutely no sense.)

It could be argued that that anyone who doesn't want Unity can stay with
Maverick or Natty. However, since those aren't LTS releases, they are
only supported until April 2012 and October 2012 respectively (including
for security fixes). So that's not really an acceptable alternative to
continuing to provide the Classic desktop until at least the next LTS
release. In my case, I switched from Windows having no idea that Ubuntu
would make such drastic changes to the interface in the very next
release. (If I'd known that, I might have installed Lucid instead. But
downgrading from Maverick to Lucid to get the LTS support doesn't make
sense; that would just cause stuff to break.)

It is possible to switch to KDE or some other alternative to Unity, of
course (although making that switch from a GNOME/Metacity-based install
is not without problems). Other environment/window manager combinations
are usually selected using the same login screen menu that is used to
select Classic vs Unity. Assuming that menu is still there in Oneiric
(it will be, right?), and assuming that all the classic desktop packages
are still available in the Oneiric apt repositories (they will be,
right?), I wonder what simplification is really available from removing
Classic as one of the environment/window manager options. If no
simplification is available, then there is no justification for removing
the option.

So, we need some clarity:
 * what does we will not [have the Classic desktop fallback] in Oneiric mean
precisely? Does it just mean not installing packages needed for the Classic
desktop *by default* on new installs (but keeping them in the repositories and
in a working state, and not messing about with them on existing installs), or
does it mean more than that?
 * will anything that might be necessary for a particular setup currently using
the Classic desktop to work, be uninstalled or disabled on an upgrade to
Oneiric? (such as disabling the proprietary NVidia drivers as in bug 772019,
for example)
 * if a user has explicitly changed the default environment back to Classic
desktop in Natty, will installing Oneiric override that preference, and if so
will changing it back again cause regressions like there were with the
Maverick-Natty upgrade? (bug 734373 and bug 735861, for example)
 * for those users who do use Unity, will critical usability and accessibility
regressions such as bug 654988, bug 739812, and (not specific to Unity) bug
762806, block the Oneiric release?

[Bug 930775] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in rhythmdb_entry_type_get_name()

2012-03-31 Thread Neal Gamradt
I just started experiencing this issue today when listening to MP3 or
m4a files. Historically this has not been an issue. I have been using
Rhythmbox since Beta1 and for me this appears to be a new issue. That
being said, I have usually been listening on a different laptop, but
they are both running 12.04.

[Bug 970196] [NEW] window freeze when setting blank password for default keyring

2012-03-31 Thread Masoud Pourmoosa
Public bug reported:

The first time after my fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, I entered Wi-
Fi password to set up my wireless. Then, as usual, a window popped up
for setting up the default keyring. I left it blank, like what I did for
previous versions of Ubuntu. Then I got a warning message with the title
Store passwords unencrypted? with two buttons to click: Cancel and
Use unsafe storage

This window is always freezed for me. No part of this window is
clickable except close (x) button on top left. Therefore I can't set a
blank password for my default keyring. However, if I set a non-blank
password, I don't get this message and there is no problem.

To reproduce it at a later time:

1. Go to Password and Keys (in terminal: seahorse)
2. Right-click on Passwords: default and select Change Password
3. Fill the Old Pasword text-field with something, but leave the other two
fields blank.
4. Press OK

What happens:
* A warning message appears, but it is non-functional.

What should happen:
* A warning message should appear and by clicking OK it should go away.

[Bug 966704] Re: Settings schema org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.updates is missing

2012-03-31 Thread Matthias Klumpp
I have to agree, shipping this file is independent from enabling the

As programs relying on the schema are already crashing, this bug is definitely
not a 'whishlist' item...
I hope this can be resolved! :)

[Bug 970276] [NEW] zenity crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

2012-03-31 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am on Ubuntu12.04 64bit updated to 31.3.2012.

When I start the Ubuntu customization kit uck and choose the language

It is 100%reproducible in this easy way.

I see this as urgent, because in moment it is not possible to remaster
Ubuntu12.04 with uck, which is the common way for all to make
