[Bug 969359] Re: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu

2012-04-12 Thread James
My normal use includes running Google Chrome, Eclipse PDT, terminal,
CXOffice, Spotify/Last.fm, Pidgin, Gedit. I cannot pinpoint a particular
action I'm taking that causes it, I just notice that my laptop fan is
going crazy, I check the process list and gnome-settings-daemon is up
there using 100%.

You mentioned it could be pulseaudio - I do listen to last.fm/Spotify
(both Linux clients), so perhaps that could be the trigger?

[Bug 839157] Re: Bluetooth applet (OBEX send/browse) does not work since Natty (after bluetoothd 4.84 exactly)

2012-04-12 Thread Daniel Wagner
This should now be fixed with a kernel patch. The 3.3 and newer contains the
fix and for the stable
branches wait for those two commits to appear in the next release.

3.2-stable review patch. If anyone has any objections, please let me know.

From: Peter Hurley pe...@hurleysoftware.com

commit 18daf1644e634bae951a6e3d4d19d89170209762 upstream

Commit 330605423c fixed l2cap conn establishment for non-ssp remote
devices by not setting HCI_CONN_ENCRYPT_PEND every time conn security
is tested (which was always returning failure on any subsequent
security checks).

However, this broke l2cap conn establishment for ssp remote devices
when an ACL link was already established at SDP-level security. This
fix ensures that encryption must be pending whenever authentication
is also pending.

[Bug 771896] Re: No way to save current session

2012-04-12 Thread Martin Pitt
There is a pending upload for this:

+gnome-session (3.2.1-0ubuntu7) precise; urgency=low
+
+ * debian/patches/51_remove_session_saving_from_gui.patch:
+- add GNOME_SESSION_SAVE environment variable for people wanting to
+ use the save session still, knowing that it can break your system
+ if used unwisely (LP: #771896)
+
+ -- Didier Roche didro...@ubuntu.com Thu, 12 Apr 2012 10:30:56 +0200

But really, this makes it so undiscoverable, and gnome-session's concept
of session saving is so fundamentally broken that this just looks like a
hack which nobody will know about, that I doubt that it makes much sense
to add this. I don't have a strong opinion, though, so if you want to
push this, I won't veto.

[Bug 979723] [NEW] evolution calendar: tooltip is modal and prevents using dialogs

2012-04-12 Thread Martin Weis
Public bug reported:

In the calendar there is a problem with the tooltip showing appointments:
As long as the tooltip is shown it is not possible to use dialog windows, e.g
for adding a new appointment. See attached and annotated screenshot for
illustration.

To reproduce:
1) add an appointment
2) open dialog again to add another appointment
3) go with your mose over calendar entry so that tooltip is shown
4) go with your mose to add appointment dialog
5) try to activate a field in the dialog, e.g. Summary
6) #!# you cannot activate/add anything to the dialog as long as tooltip is
shown (same applies to window functions/e.g. close with [X])

expected behaviour:
1-5) as above
6) field gets activated to enter text, dialog activated and usable

I am using gnome 3 here (no effects) on

[Bug 773302] Re: Language selection menu in gedit/External Tools configuration is not scrollable

2012-04-12 Thread Răzvan-Cosmin Rădulescu
This actually is not connected to the scroll bars, I have the same
issue, but I assume is connected with python-gobject as you can see from
the errors when running GEdit from the terminal:

TypeError: Expected Gdk.Event, but got StructMeta
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File /usr/lib/gedit/plugins/externaltools/manager.py, line 255, in

File /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gi/types.py, line 43, in function
return info.invoke(*args, **kwargs)
TypeError: Expected Gdk.Event, but got StructMeta

If anyone is interested, as a workaround for specifying a specific
language, you can find the scripts in $HOME/.config/gedit/tools and then
change the # Languages= line as in the example:

#!/bin/sh
# [Gedit Tool]
# Name=Run Python Script
# Shortcut=F5
# Languages=python
# Applicability=all
# Input=nothing
# Output=output-panel
# Save-files=nothing

python $GEDIT_CURRENT_DOCUMENT_DIR/$GEDIT_CURRENT_DOCUMENT_NAME

[Bug 975299] Re: gnome-panel and exo-utils should not be recommended by Alacarte package

2012-04-12 Thread Matthieu Baerts
But is it maybe possible to move 'gnome-desktop-item-edit' in a new package?
(it seems this request was proposed a long time ago:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=319417 )
I think it's a good solution if we want to edit menus with Alacarte on a
Cairo-Dock session without installing all dependences of gnome-panel.

** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #319417
   http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=319417

** Description changed:

  Hello,

I think gnome-panel and exo-utils should not be recommended by Alacarte
package.
Indeed, Alacarte is a menu editor for the GNOME desktop but the Gnome-Panel
and the Xfce-Panel are not the only one with a Gnome-Menu (e.g. made with
libgnome-menu).
Cairo-Dock (but I'm sure there is also other applications) also uses
libgnome-menu in order to have a Gnome-Menu-like and we can use Cairo-Dock
without Gnome/XFCE Panel.

- This is why I'm proposing to no longer recommend these two packages. But
- of course we can add them as suggestions.
-
- This bzr branch has been linked to this bug report:
lp:~matttbe/ubuntu/precise/alacarte/975299
- This branch should be ready to be pushed on lp:ubuntu/alacarte
+ But Alacarte needs gnome-desktop-item-edit or exo-desktop-item-edit (only on
XFCE sessions) to edit .desktop.
+ Is it maybe possible to move 'gnome-desktop-item-edit' in a new package?
+ I think it's the best solution if we want to edit menus with Alacarte on a
Cairo-Dock session without installing all dependences of gnome-panel.

  Thank you

** Summary changed:

- gnome-panel and exo-utils should not be recommended by Alacarte package
+ gnome-desktop-item-edit should be in a new package

[Bug 979805] [NEW] nautilus greys out valid options

2012-04-12 Thread Mister X
Public bug reported:

When you are in a group that has full rights to edit files, but you are
not the owner, the Create File/Folder options are greyed out in
Nautilus although they shouldn't be. Despite being greyed out, clicking
them does still work though.

Practical example: the /var/www sub-folders belong to www-data:www-data

+ and file permissions are set to 775. I add the regular user to that
+ group to be able to edit files without requiring root access. He can now
+ edit files and create folders, but the Nautilus buttons do not indicate

This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody
experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the
software. You can learn more about how to do this at

there for other language. For example in French the the break is between

[Bug 825775] Re: Siliencing NickServ/ChanServ

2012-04-12 Thread Tony Pursell
I find this irritating as well. All accounts have a log in procedure.
It is only IRC that has a chat window opened, but it is a clearly
defined procedure where Empathy gives a password in response to a chat
message. Empathy is already doing something special with these messages
from NickServ, so I don't see why it shouldn't close the chat window
after the 'You are now identified for username' message.

[Bug 966294] Re: Ubiquity loops forever from ubiquity_webcam_play

2012-04-12 Thread Stéphane Graber
Ok, I just updated the title to reflect reality.
As far as I can tell, gstreamer doesn't loop, though the gtk client certainly
hangs (debug log still shows frames being processed).

I figured a fix for the regression by reverting part of an upstream commit:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/926326/
The upstream commit in question (found through bisect) is:
f56c6e12255b37d75b1eb949e434fa8e3bb33f51

I'm now attaching the logs with GST_DEBUG=5 for cheese (camerabin) and
ubiquity (camerabin2) both with the revert (working behaviour) and
without (UI hanging).

** No longer affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)

** No longer affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu Precise)

** Summary changed:

- Ubiquity loops forever from ubiquity_webcam_play
+ gstreamer hangs when accessing webcam (on specific hardware)

2012-04-12 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 819714] Re: Can not display GB2312/GB18030 encoded chinese files

2012-04-12 Thread Eric Miao
Well, I'd say an ideal solution would be for gedit to detect the
encoding by itself, and thus avoid all these tricky configurations. I've
experimented a bit with universalchardet, which comes with Mozilla
project, and its separate library libuchardet. I found it to be smart
enough in most cases. Attached is a preliminary patch I did to support
gedit with uchardet, for preliminary early preview.

I'll come up with a testing package a bit later.

[Bug 974784] Re: accessibility virtual keyboard showing up after screen lock resume

2012-04-12 Thread Neliton Pereira Junior
** Description changed:

I turned the accessibility keyboard on just to test it and then I
disabled it. From that moment on, after the screen is blocked
(automatically or manually) the virtual keyboard shows up together with
the authentication window to unblock the screen, even though in the
configuration settings this feature is disabled.

I really couldn't find out what package is responsible for this
- behavior. I'm not sure if this is a caused by gnome-control-center-2.0,
- or by any other package that is set by it to call the virtual keyboard
- at that specific moment.
