[Bug 934192] Re: Files and fields with portuguese characters corrupts the database and idv (2/3?)

2012-04-24 Thread Eric Miao
Hi Almufadado, could you please test the latest ubuntu release, e.g.
daily live ISO? And what is the charset encoding for the tags in your
mp3 files. If this is caused by tags not in utf-8, could you try put
export GST_ID3_TAG_ENCODING=possible mp3 tags charset encoding (e.g.
ISO8859-15) to your .bashrc file and re-login to see if anything
changes?

You could also do a quick trial within a shell as:

$ set GST_ID3_TAG_ENCODING=...
$ gst-launch --tags uridecodebin uri=file:///path to your mp3 file ! fakesink

And see what's the output.

[Bug 987476] [NEW] Appearance settings pictures folder doesn't retain added wallpapers

2012-04-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Running 12.04 RC on 32 bit system with Unity 3D. From within
Appearance Settings, I go to the dropdown combobox and select
Pictures Folder. I then click on the + button to add wallpapers I
have stored elsewhere on my hard drive. They show up, I can select them
and everything works fine.

If I close the dialog and go back into it, then they are not there...the
Pictures Folder list is empty. This may have to do with the fact that
I long ago deleted the folder Pictures in my home directory. In any
event, the current behavior is confusing at best.

[Bug 987769] [NEW] gconf2-d stops working (but keeps running)

2012-04-24 Thread Jayes
Public bug reported:

From time to time I run into problems like nautilus reverting to its
default settings (and not saving new settings). The problem is always
the gconf2-d daemon. I can quickly solve the problem like this ...

killall -HUP gconfd-2
killall nautilus

... after that nautilus will start up using the custom settings.

This bug has been around for a while. I submitted it for Debian
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=647408) in november
2011 and more recently for Fedora
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=808757).

Note that gconf2-d does not crash. It keeps running - but apparently
does not do a lot more than that. I have never been able to trigger this
behaviour. It just happens from time to time - say every two hours or
so.

JS

[Bug 792085] Re: Automatic remount of safely removed drive

For me too on Ubuntu 12.04, fresh install (yesterday daily ISO). As
described, first time when i securely removes a USB drive with the
rightclick option in Unity launcher it automatically remount in a few
seconds. The second time i try to securely remove the drive it works. In
Lucid it was no problem.

[Bug 986008] Re: Strange character showing in file listing in Nautilus in some views, for Thai language file names

2012-04-24 Thread Chanchao
I don't know when it started, but I don't recall ever seeing it in
11.10.

I attach a small text file with a name that uses Thai characters. The
strange character appears after the dash and after the dot.

I tested it with some other non Western scripts (Korean and Hindi) and
the issue does not occur there. It seems specific to Thai.

There is a workaround for this which can be used until this gets a
proper fix: You can specify username and server in the accound field
with a semycolon in between:

Account: username:serverhost

See screenshot in comment #5.

[Bug 987578] Re: Evince is not allowed to open links from a pdf

2012-04-24 Thread Wannes Rombouts
Hi, Thanks for your help.

This did not fix the issue. But it certainly changed things !

I no longer have the red bar saying Failed to execute child process
exo-open (Permission denied), instead I have an alert saying :

Failed to launch preferred application for category 'WebBrowser'.
Failed to execute child process
'/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xfce4/exo-1/exo-helper-1' (Permission denied).

So I figured I only needed to add usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xfce4/exo-1
/exo-helper-1 ixr, to /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.bin.evince

But that didn't work as expected, I don't have the alert anymore but it
segfaults right after that. (I can include the additional information
for that if you want.) But I am not sure adding that second line to
apparmor's configuration was the right thing to do in the first place.

[Bug 966561] [NEW] Logging in while docked - doesn't remember monitor layout

2012-04-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have configured the system to use the external monitor only while
docked. Thankfully as of Precise it remembers this choice when docking
a running system.

Unfortunately, when I boot up while docked, the greeter is on both
screens, which is fine, but on login the display goes to the laptop and
ignores the monitor.

This may be X rather than Unity...(?)

I know the multi-monitor docking scenarios are a priority with
Precise. Happy to help debug.

mode was specific to sspmode; which was a suggested workaround. If
that's not supported, fine. Some devices may not support this.

If you say it's different, fine, but right now I have no way to figure
out what might be failing to work on your system. We definitely did fix
the largest underlying issues with sending and browsing in Oneiric and
Precise now, nothing excludes that some specific hardware can still have
other issues.

Would you be able to report your bug to the developers mailing list for
bluez (upstream)? See http://www.bluez.org/contact/

[Bug 922299] Re: Mouse-wheeling sliders moves them the wrong way.

2012-04-24 Thread Christian Giordano
The logical incremental direction is left to right (horizontally) and
bottom to top (vertically).

Vertically (e.g.: with scrollbars), to move the thumb towards the
bottom, we move the finger (on top of the mouse wheel) towards us.

Hence the same movement, when we have horizontal slider, should move the
thumb from right to left.

On my current Precise build the Launcher tile in the Appearance panel
and the slider in the Sound indicator work fine.

Actually, with the new audio dialog, the Volume slider at the bottom
doesn't react to scrolling at all. Neither does Balance in the right
pane of the Output tab. The slider in the Effects tab also doesn't
react. And not per-application audio.

In summary; none of the sliders react on scrolling anymore.

[Bug 975151] Re: Sending error reports not activated

2012-04-24 Thread Christopher Kyle Horton
I am seeing the exact same behavior on my 12.04 desktop. If you leave
the Privacy screen and return to it, the Send error reports to
Canonical checkbox remains unchecked. Note that it does stay checked if
you just switch to another tab in the Privacy screen and return to it
without closing Privacy.

[Bug 986983] Re: Opening Empthay from the Indicator also opens the Preference window

2012-04-24 Thread Ken VanDine
I see your point, hmmm.. the issue is when you open preferences from
the unity launcher with a right click, it is actually running empathy
-p which runs empathy and raises the preferences dialog. Then you
close the contact list window, activating empathy again to raise it
seems to use the -p argument that was passed to empathy previously.
It looks like empathy is remembering the state, i have reproduced this
just by running it from a terminal.

1) without empathy running, run empathy in a terminal
2) close the contact list window
3) in another terminal, run empathy -p, this will raise the contact list and
open a preferences window
4) close the contact list and preferences windows again
5) run empathy in a terminal, this will raise the contact list and open the
preferences window

So this rules out unity, compiz, or the messaging menu.

[Bug 911269] Re: evolution-exchange is ignoring already translated menu-items (Permissions..., Berechtigungen...)

2012-04-24 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Looks like this is actually missing a patch to evolution's e-util; it
should be pretty straightforward to get it added since nothing would be
using that function (e_action_group_add_actions_localized()) yet. See
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/commits-list/2012-January/msg01662.html,
though one would probably want to go find the commit on
git.gnome.org/browse/evolution to make the patch easier to include in
the evolution package.

I'm fixing up the package assignations.

Vibhav, do you want to give a go to fixing evolution first, then we can
upload evolution-exchange again with the translations fix?
