[Bug 990965] Re: unexpected right click behavior in nautilus

2012-04-30 Thread Shinoda
Just to clarify the issue: in List view, right-clicking an empty area of
an item's row or a folder's expand/collapse arrow, i.e. right-clicking
outside an item's icon or text (name, type, date, etc.), deselects any
selected items and displays the (current tab's) folder's context menu. I
hope this is a bug, because it is obviously a counterintuitive behaviour
when using List view; right-clicking anywhere in an item's row should
bring up that same item's (or the selection's, if the item is part of
it) context menu. I never noticed this before upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04.

[Bug 881376] Re: Low disk space warning popping up repeatedly.

2012-04-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Ubuntux: it can be fixed, and lucky you it's opensource so you can work
on it yourself and contribute to get it resolved for others as well if
you want

bottom line: the workaround is easy make space on your disk and there
are higher issues on the todolist but we will try to address the issue
there at some point

[Bug 991003] Re: Even if the keyring password is same as system password, gnome-keyring asks every time on login

2012-04-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report, not sure where you read that gnome-
keyring is not supposed to ask for the password, even if automatic login
is selected, but that's not true.

If the keyring could be unlocked by a programatic way without your input
it would mean that any program could unlock it the same way and that
your password keyring would be useless...

You simply can't have a password that a software can guess for you and
which is secure, those are just conflicting goals

Re: [Bug 990725] Re: Shotwell will not detect mts moviefiles on memory card

2012-04-30 Thread melenzb
Hi Adam,

That is a real pity! A lot of digicams these days carry their movies in
a acvhd bluray disc compatible directory that is not beneath the dcim
directory ( at least the panasonic camera's) I was quite confident that
shotwell would replace digikam on my wife's and my dad's new ubuntu
install. I tested it quite a while and it seemed the ideal solution
until now . It really does need to download video's too, otherwise these
less computer literate people are not going to cope with it.

Could you consider to add a toggle for this in the settings?

Is there any other work around?

On 04/29/2012 02:11 PM, Adam Dingle wrote:
In 0.12 we changed Shotwell so that if a top-level DCIM directory is
present on your camera or card, Shotwell looks only in that directory
and no others. We did this to avoid importing lots of useless
thumbnails on Android phones (see http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/1903).

Do you have a DCIM directory on your card?

[Bug 969527] Re: Rythmbox many errors when importing to library

2012-04-30 Thread Mark Jackson
The error Rhythmbox states is that it can't resolve some of the
dependencies when installing gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg.

If you do a manual ...

sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg

... this installs all the required files. A quick restart of Rhythmbox
and all imports appear to work fine.

[Bug 979326] Re: [soudnua]: No Input Level is detected for all my microphones

This seems to be similar to what I have found after upgrading to
precise. When I plug in a webcam with micorphone via usb, that works
(but I need the rear microphone jack working as the webcam is only
borrowed to test the point.)

See attached screenshot. The rear microphone jack is detected. There is
a tested working mcirophone attached, but there is no input being
detected. I have Intel i7 2600 motherboard with built in sound card
device. Have 64 bit Ubuntu 12.04 installed and up to date. See below for
lspci listing of audio device (bottom).

Mode of sound hardware is set to Analogue Stereo Duplex in the Output
tab of the sound settings. Was working before upgrade from 11:10.

[Bug 991823] [NEW] Inconsistent windows positioning after minimizing

2012-04-30 Thread Muhammad Romy Elmaco
Public bug reported:

- I am using ubuntu 12.04 64 bit
- The gimp version is 2.6.12

- Start the gimp and the windows positioning is correct. Toolbar is in the
bottom left, layer window is the bottom right, and the main window fit the
screen well.
- But after i minimized it and then maximized it, the windows positioning
messed up. It's overflowing the top panel and i can't drag it down. It will
stuck like that until i restart the gimp.

I have this and it is very very frustrating... Like going back to the
stone age. Linux flavor that is bad for doing terminal work? That's a

My setup is very simple - one screen (an HP laptop), old nVidia card,
gnome-shell.

[Bug 991845] [NEW] Empathy on 12.04, some MSN users cannot see me online at all, one way conversations

2012-04-30 Thread psypher
Public bug reported:

I am unable to communicate with some MSN users. They constantly see me
as offline despite being online and chatting to user users. I can see
them online and send messages to them and they can see those messages.
But nothing replies back from them on my side. I am offline to them no
matter what.

The Windows client on that side that cannot see me is: v2011
15.4.3538.513

Chatting MSN clients has been a problem for me on linux for a very long
time now. Chatting and adding new users is just not stable enough. Since
MSN is now using open standards it's time for these bugs to be squashed.
It's very annoying when you are trying to use MSN to communicate with
clients and colleagues on other platforms and have half your
conversation not arrive, not being able to add new users or your side
being offline.

Thanks

[Bug 991873] [NEW] Alt+F[n] keyboard shortcuts don't function in new sessions

2012-04-30 Thread Chris Morgan
Public bug reported:

I have historically had three custom keyboard shortcuts:

gVim: Alt+F12
System Monitor: Shift+Ctrl+Escape
Python: Alt+F6

Since updating from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04, while the System Monitor
shortcut continues to function, the two Alt+F[n] shortcuts do not
function regularly.

All three are apparent in System Settings - Keyboard - Shortcuts -
Custom Shortcuts; if I select one of the two dysfunctional shortcuts and
either clear it or change it to something else, and then change it back,
it begins to work. However, when I log into a fresh session or restart
the machine, the shortcut becomes dysfunctional once more.

2012-04-30 Thread Luca Andrea Rossi
This bug also affects me. In previous releases of Ubuntu I used to
assign Super+Numpad-, Super+Numpad/ and Super+Numpad* respectively to
media play, previous and forward.

Now I can assign shortcuts using the Super key, but they don't work.
If I assign them to something else, for example Alt+Numpad*, they work
until I close the session or I restart the system.

[Bug 991912] [NEW] Confusing button labelling on disk eject dialogue

2012-04-30 Thread Bruno Girin
Public bug reported:

When burning a CD ISO to an physical CD using a CD drive that does not
support software eject, Brasero displays a message dialogue asking the
user to manually eject the CD from the drive (see attached screen shot).
Although the message is reasonably clear, there is only one button in
this dialogue labelled Cancel. This is extremely confusing as it
suggests that clicking that button will cancel the just finished write
operation. Furthermore, the dialogue offers no alternative action that
would make sense. A better wording for this button would be Done.
Close should be avoided as users may wonder whether this closes the
drive or the dialogue.

Steps to reproduce
1. Download an ISO (e.g. Ubuntu server 12.04);
2. Burn the ISO using Brasero and a CD drive that cannot be opened via software;
3. The dialogue appears with its confusing Cancel button.

[Bug 871133] Re: Ubuntu Oneric Volume Step Can Not be Changed

2012-04-30 Thread Olle Hassel
I just looked a bit at the source and how hard to fix should depend on
how nice a solution you want. If you only want to change the number of
steps it should be enough to change their hardcoded line:

#define VOLUME_STEP 6 /* percents for one volume button press
*/

to say 2.

Ideally though would be to make it configurable such that VOLUME_STEP is
like before in gnome2 is externally configurable.

The problem though is that the Gnome viewpoint is flawed since they have
built it for embedded sound systems where the usable volume is from 0%
up to 100% but if you use an external sound system then this is usually
not the case but rather 20-30 % might me maximum.

I've just found something that may or may not be related to the bug. Not

a message shows up in text screen:

*...(some ids.)... host controller halted. Fatal*

and then everything remains frozen till I press the notebook power button.
After that the notebook gets suspended and, upon the following power up,
it wakes up as smoothly as ever. Doesn't seem harmful but it's there.

Do you think it's related to the same bug ? Or I'd better report it as a
different bug ?

Sorry about bothering again.
Best regards.
gck.

same here had all these probs, had thought it was all being caused by
the place windows applet in compiz (which worked fine in 10.10)
interesting about the clock if that has to do with anything.

[Bug 990528] Re: no clue is given of whether computing total size of folder is done

2012-04-30 Thread matteo sisti sette
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 386233 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/386233

Are you sure this is a dup? #386233 seems to deal with the cases where
some property actually changes while they are been displayed. Here I'm
talking about when you open a folder's properties dialog and the size is
computed for the first time, and you don't even know when it's done
computing it.

Also this is definitely more than whishlist. It gives incomplete or
plain wrong information (since you don't know how long you have to stare
at it before the size is correct, at any time you are encouraged to
assume what you see is the total size of the contents of the folder)

[Bug 991858] [NEW] volume keys stop working after brightness keys are used

2012-04-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have this notebook SONY VAIO YB3V1E/S with AMD E-450

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Lubuntu)

When I first login, I can use the fn+ audio keys on the notebook to
adjust the volume and mute/umute the audio.

I get the small visual feedback window and the audio feedback as well.

But if I use the fn + brightness keys to adjust the brightness, then the
fn+ audio keys stop working. The brightness keys continue to work.

If I kill gnome-settings-daemon and start it again, then the fn + audio
keys start working again until I use the brightness keys again.

** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
