[Bug 993051] [NEW] totem sound cuts out predictably on repeat
Public bug reported:
Expected behavior: When totem is set to repeat indefinitely, the file
should play continuously until a new file is opened in totem or totem is
closed or paused. (This is the behavior in Oneiric.)
Actual behavior (Precise): The audio file plays normally on the first
playthrough. On the second playthrough, the sound cuts out at 12
seconds in. (To test, I used elf-land.ogg and legends_of_the_north.ogg
from wesnoth). The audio file appears to continue playing, but no sound
eminates. If you pause, the song jumps to the end. If you unpause at
this point, the song appears to jump back to the point at which it was
stopped, but there is still no audio output. If you seek at this point,
the song cuts out 12 seconds after the point at which playback was
started (so if you start at 0:28, the music will cut out at 0:40). I
have also observed the sound restarting for no reason.
I also receive the following error message in console:
(totem:4869): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: Read/writable property 'object'
on class 'ZeitgeistDpPlugin' has type 'TotemObject' which is not exactly
equal to the type 'GObject' of the property on the interface
'PeasActivatable'
This appears to be confined to totem. Running mplayer -loop 0
filename does not create any discernable playback problems, including
the issue described above.

Public bug reported: If your Monitor falls back to a resolution of 640x480 (Due to a crash of a fullscreen-game), you can't use the Display of gnome-control-center because the window is taller than 480px. You can't resize the window either. so you have no chance to click the Apply button with your mouse. To see it your self, you have to put your Resolution down to 640x480 and try to reset it to a higher Resolution. Work around: press [Alt] + [A] (English) or [Alt] + [W] (German) to apply your settings without clicking the Button. Work around2: hold [Alt] and drag the Window at it's center. You can drag it high enough to actually click Apply. [Bug 993126] [NEW] on battery low the machine got into a suspend/resume cycle until the battery was flat
Public bug reported: My machine was suspended with a relatively empty battery. When I came back to it in the morning it was completely dead. On inspection the machine appears to have near exhausted its battery and woken up to allow the OS to hibernate or similar. The machine has then re-suspended itself, woken due to battery, re-suspended etc repeating until the battery is dead. My 'When power is critically low' setting is 'empty' I assume set to Hibernate which is no longer available (this is an upgrade). And the machine is set to suspend on lid close. I am therefore conjecturing the machine is woken by the low power state, has no valid action on power low, has a closed lid so it implements that. This leads to the loop. We likely should be upgrading peoples settings if they have 'Hibernate' set to be poweroff or whatever the approved solution is. HP Probook 4630s, 8GB ram. 1. Can confirm gnome-settings-daemon taking 100% cpu. No other particular apps running with high CPU. 2. Can confirm the num-lock blinking rapidly. 3. Also, caps-lock sometimes gets reversed (i.e. ALL CAPS with no caps lock light, and no caps with caps lock light on. 4. Logging out and in stopped the behavior. I have a internal encypted drive whch is now not recognised and I can only mount it by issueing the cryptsetup and mount command myself, Previously it would appear in places and then I could click on it to mount it (and put in the key). Public bug reported: System Settings - Universal Access - Typing - Screen keyboard is initially disabled. When it is enabled, it may (I can't remember whether or not it did the first time) ask whether you wish to activate it on the dialogue to unlock the screen (stating that Onboard is configured to appear then, but it is disabled in the system). If it does, say yes. Now lock the screen. The on-screen keyboard shows. Turn off the on-screen keyboard in System Settings. Now lock the screen. The on-screen keyboard shows; I didn't want it to. That's why I turned it off. There is a gsettings option which is pertinent to this, org.gnome.desktop.screensaver.embedded-keyboard-enabled. This is accessible through Onboard Settings (wholly outside gnome-control- center) by unticking Show when unlocking the screen. While it is possible to disable it from Onboard Settings, it should be disabled from the Control Centre in the same way. The current behaviour is confusing and unsettling. Booted AMD x64 Desktop CD as Try Ubuntu on my desktop machine to see how it would handle my FireMV video card. No install done - I'm running the live CD. 8GB memory. Went to the Dash Home, typed n, selected Network. Selected All Settings. Selected Network. Died. Repeatable. Every time. I can open any number of other Settings entries, but I can't open Network twice. It always dies on the second try. Once, even opening another Settings icon also caused it to die (after starting with Network). Further investigation reveals that Rhythmbox can play flacs via a samba share but not mp3s (sounds crazy, but I've triple checked!) Totem can play both only if the ~/.gvfs fuse filesystem is mounted. Today, the gvfs-fuse-daemon process had crashed (or otherwise stopped for some reason) and totem was having the same problem as rhythmbox (playing the first second or two of mp3s). When I remounted .gvfs totem was able to play mp3s (though rhythmbox still could not). I did not have this bug in Ubuntu 11.04 but I upgraded to 12.04 a few hours ago and it bit me. I cannot reliably print web pages as PDF files; it occasionally works but typically produces displayable but garbled PDF files. I can save web pages as postscript files, but when I open these files in evince (the document viewer) evince behaves as described in this bug. [Bug 993310] [NEW] Tearing/blinking text while scrolling
Public bug reported: This is new stuff since upgrade to 12.04 from 11.10 (gedit version 3.4.1). When I scroll text in gedit, the text appears to blink as I scroll generating an unpleasant effect, a bit dazzling. If the window is unactive and I scroll the text, I don't get this behavior. It is almost as if the window was being redrawn twice everytime I scroll, once as a white square, once with the new text. What could be the cause for this? Other apps don't seem to have this problem.
