[Bug 498694] Re: [SecurityRoadmap] sometimes resume from suspend doesn't ask for password, instead goes to straight to the desktop instead.
wanted to add to this thread; this has happened to me three or four times in 12.04 LTS 64-bit, running on a Lenovo T61. Each time it's happened after closing the laptop (which suspends it automatically), and then opening the lid 20–30 minutes later (which automatically resumes). This last time, I closed the lid, waited for the suspend light to come on steady, unplugged the power, and then resumed it about 25 minutes later. This is a Lenovo T61 with an NVIDIA discreet graphics card (Quadro 140M), and I'm running the proprietary nvidia driver, version 295.40. All packages are up to date, as is all firmware on the notebook. Please let me know what I can provide you that'll help track this down. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/498694 Title: [SecurityRoadmap] sometimes resume from suspend doesn't ask for password, instead goes to straight to the desktop instead. [Bug 996832] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits. Login screen - Unity does not allow to login in when partition is full
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have a laptop with Ubuntu 12.04 (Fresh installation, not upgrade) 64 bits. My home folder is encrypted. It worked fine until a couple of days ago since I can't login in. It boots normally, I enter login and password (does not matter Unity or Unity 2D), press Enter. At this moment it seems that Ubuntu starts desktop, shows some messages and immediately goes back to login screen. I attached the photo of this moment. One of the messages is could not write bytes: Broken pipe. Photo is attached. Mouse is working fine. No freeze on the screen. I tried previous kernel as well as recovery mode. The system is up to date, no updates are available. I can login using CLI (for example, pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1). I don't know which package affected, but it's critical and it would be great if you could tell me which information I need to provide. I am not sure after what it start happening. Probably, I installed Cisco AnyConnect last time which worked great in all previous versions of Ubuntu (but I used only 32 bits before). I also installed VirtualBox. [Bug 987046] Re: shotwell's unity progress bar hangs halfway across
** Also affects: shotwell (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: shotwell (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: shotwell (Ubuntu Precise) Status: New = Fix Committed ** Description changed: + TESTCASE: + - run shotwell under unity + - without the update the progress bar on the launcher icon stays + - with the update it should be dismissed once loading is done + I love that shotwell supports the Unity progress bar on shotwell's launcher icon. But, when I open shotwell it uses the CPU heavily for several minutes, during which time the progress bar makes it about halfway across, and then stops. The progress bar stops, and fortunately the CPU usage eventually dies down as well. But then the progress bar merely remains there indefinitely. This process repeats every time I start shotwell. It's entirely possible that shotwell's trying to perform some task (related to making NEF's into jpeg thumbnails, for example?) but never finishes for some reason? So I don't know if the issue is with the progress bar specifically, or with some other task that never completes and then is re-started every time I start shotwell. In any case, I have to leave shotwell open all the time as it is difficult to work with during the extended heavy CPU usage that occurs during every startup.
