[Bug 498694] Re: [SecurityRoadmap] sometimes resume from suspend doesn't ask for password, instead goes to straight to the desktop instead.

2012-05-16 Thread Nathan Wittstock
wanted to add to this thread; this has happened to me three or four
times in 12.04 LTS 64-bit, running on a Lenovo T61. Each time it's
happened after closing the laptop (which suspends it automatically), and
then opening the lid 20–30 minutes later (which automatically resumes).
This last time, I closed the lid, waited for the suspend light to come
on steady, unplugged the power, and then resumed it about 25 minutes
later.

This is a Lenovo T61 with an NVIDIA discreet graphics card (Quadro
140M), and I'm running the proprietary nvidia driver, version 295.40.
All packages are up to date, as is all firmware on the notebook.

Please let me know what I can provide you that'll help track this down.

[Bug 682492] Re: Evince: Save Settings as default doesn't work

2012-05-16 Thread Martin Konopka
In my experience on ubuntu 11.04, this bug does not have any relation to
neither /tmp dir nor to the lyx. You can see my (duplicate) bug
report

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/917666

The bug affects (on ubuntu 11.04, both 32 and 64 bit versions) any PDF
document, no matter if in /tmp or in my $HOME. It also does not matter
if the document was created from inside LibreOffice or by pdflatex.

[Bug 996832] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits. Login screen - Unity does not allow to login in when partition is full

2012-05-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have a laptop with Ubuntu 12.04 (Fresh installation, not upgrade) 64 bits.
My home folder is encrypted.

It worked fine until a couple of days ago since I can't login in.

It boots normally, I enter login and password (does not matter Unity or Unity
2D), press Enter.
At this moment it seems that Ubuntu starts desktop, shows some messages and
immediately goes back to login screen.
I attached the photo of this moment. One of the messages is could not write
bytes: Broken pipe. Photo is attached.

Mouse is working fine. No freeze on the screen.

I tried previous kernel as well as recovery mode. The system is up to
date, no updates are available.

I can login using CLI (for example, pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1).

I don't know which package affected, but it's critical and it would be
great if you could tell me which information I need to provide.

I am not sure after what it start happening.
Probably, I installed Cisco AnyConnect last time which worked great in all
previous versions of Ubuntu (but I used only 32 bits before). I also installed
VirtualBox.

I can provide a short video of the screen when I am trying to login.

It is likely that the key generates two key codes (Windows key + P) and

[Bug 1000190] [NEW] Evolution's Search folder not showing correct messages

2012-05-16 Thread rubadubdub
Public bug reported:

I have 3 imap gmail account and I am trying to display all e-mail from
my 3 inboxes in 1 search folder. The searchbox I created had the
following settings (loosly translated from dutch so might not be teh
actual names of the settings:

include all
for specific maps: all impa/INBOX folders
I also tried all local and external folders - same result
I also tried all read messages and all unread messages - same result

With all of the above settings I get a search folder where 2/3 of the
mail is missing. It displays just 1 of the imap/INBOX'es. When deleting
an recreating the search folder same results, only a change it shows a
different inbox but never all of them.

PLeas fix or point me to a sollution.

[Bug 1000123] [NEW] Network settings / Network connections / Editing connection GUI fail

2012-05-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Ubuntu version: 11.10 and 12.04

Steps to reproduce bug:
1) Open network settings dialog
2) Choose an arbitrary network connection (Wired/Wireless/Mobile broadband)
3) Click on Configure (11.10)/Options (12.04)
- Editing [connection name] dialog opens
4) Close Editing [connection name] dialog
5) Click on Configure (11.10)/Options (12.04)
- Editing [connection name] dialog opens
6) DO NOT close Editing [connection name] dialog
6) Click on Configure (11.10)/Options (12.04)
- Network connections dialog opens

Expected behaviour:
It is mandatory to manage multiple network connection of the same type. This is
obvious for wireless network, but it is also mandatory for wired networks.
Therefor, the list in the Network settings dialog should contain multiple
connections of the same type (adding a new connection by clicking +) and the
Configure/Options button should open the settings dialog for this single
connection OR the Network settings dialog should be as it is and the
Configure/Options button should open the general Network connections dialog for
all connections.

[Bug 871931] Re: ALT + circumflex can be set in the keybinding settings and conflict with unity

2012-05-16 Thread Sean W
The workaround *kinda* works. Here's how it did for me:
1. start ccsm
2. activate Ubuntu Unity Plugin - Switcher - Key to flip through the windows
in the switcher. You will find this option is deactivated. Binding it will not
unbind alt+circumflex right away
3. activate Application Switcher Plugin. Click through errors for doubly used
bindings
4. play around with both plugins to no avail, notice how alt+circumflex can't
be unbound
5. restart system and magically find key unbound

[Bug 356022] Re: unable to mount or browse samba networks

2012-05-16 Thread mlaverdiere
Like mentioned earlier, it seems that the failed to retrieve shares
list from server problem may me related to the lack of samba package on
an out of the box Ubuntu installation. Having the samba package
installed appears to fix the problem or, at least, in more complex
situation, be one of the steps involved in fixing it. See the default
package listing fro 12.04 where there is no samba package, while other
related samba package are present:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/natty/ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.manifest

Google shows instances of this bug going back to at least 2009. I had 19
of these files covering the first 13 days of May, starting when I
installed Pangolin and ending when I installed Mint 12/Cinnamon to
overcome an intractable printer problem. In my case all 19 files were
zero bytes.

I can point out that in 12.04 LTS it does happen if I choose the Gnome

Gnome :-/

** Description changed:

+ TESTCASE:
+ - run shotwell under unity
+ - without the update the progress bar on the launcher icon stays
+ - with the update it should be dismissed once loading is done
+
I love that shotwell supports the Unity progress bar on shotwell's
  launcher icon.

But, when I open shotwell it uses the CPU heavily for several minutes,
during which time the progress bar makes it about halfway across, and
then stops. The progress bar stops, and fortunately the CPU usage
eventually dies down as well. But then the progress bar merely remains
  there indefinitely.

This process repeats every time I start shotwell. It's entirely
possible that shotwell's trying to perform some task (related to making
NEF's into jpeg thumbnails, for example?) but never finishes for some
reason? So I don't know if the issue is with the progress bar
specifically, or with some other task that never completes and then is
re-started every time I start shotwell. In any case, I have to leave
shotwell open all the time as it is difficult to work with during the
extended heavy CPU usage that occurs during every startup.

This doesn't appear to be a bug in empathy upstrea, it's on our end.
First guess would be GTK handling minimum window sizes wrong. This is a
regression in a release and I am tagging it as such.

[Bug 1000316] [NEW] Cannot expand width of gnome-terminal - scroll handle blocks the ability

2012-05-16 Thread Jacob Fogg
Public bug reported:

Open a terminal, make sure it's not maximized, hit enter enough times so
that the scroll bar is activated, now move your cursor to the right side

scroll bar handle pops up and blocks you from being able to grab the
edge of the window..
