[Bug 955876] Re: Possible have wrong values in Metacity gconf/gsettings keys

2012-05-27 Thread Attila Hammer
Ryan Lortie wrote following comment my upstream report:
hi Attila,

This is not a bug in dconf, but rather in metacity. The bug no longer exists
because metacity switched to using GSettings a while ago (which is quite a lot
more strict when it comes to checking types vs. the schemas).

Ubuntu has been intentionally using an older version of metacity for some time
specifically because they needed the GConf support for compatibility with
Compiz (which has not yet made the change to GSettings, but will soon).

Long story short: this bug is already fixed in GNOME and will soon be fixed in
Ubuntu as well (ie: before 12.10 release).
My question: possible fix this error anyway in Ubuntu 12.04 to not happening
this type mismatch with Metacity keybindings some time?

Attila

[Bug 1004601] [NEW] OBEX file browsing extremely slow

2012-05-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

With recent updates to Ubuntu 12.04, OBEX file browsing of Bluetooth
devices is working again, but still not quite as well as it was in the
10.x series.

This is a Samsung NC-20 working with a Nokia C5.

In particular, OBEX file browsing is extremely slow, at least using Nautilus.
It was never exactly snappy, but it was nowhere near this slow in Ubuntu 10.10.

From the Gnome bluetooth-applet, click the item corresponding to my phone, and
pull down Browse Files... .
An icon for the phone promptly appears on the desktop.
But after this, things grind to a halt.
It typically takes a couple of minutes to open a directory, even a directory
containing a single directory item.

100% reproducible on this system.

Other Bluetooth functions are quite fast. For instance, I browse the
web over BT DUN connections, and it feels like a fast modem.

Please have a look at this!
We're almost there!

[Bug 1005140] [NEW] Universal Access settings should also work on standard programs

2012-05-27 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

I am on Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal 64bit.

System settings - Universal Access - View gives the user(possible view
impaired one) the opportunity to adjust the system wide text size.

Good thing!

But the standard programs like Firefox or LibreOffice are not adjusted
by this central settings as far as their menues are affected.

So, the user experience for view impaired users is that they have to
bring their heads everytime they start to use one of this standard
programs direct to the screen and search for the menue zoom settings in
those programs, which is a strange task for them.

Expected:

With the Universal Access - View text size settings it should be
possible to adjust also the menu size in the not canonical standard
program in the unity launcher panel, which are Firefox and LibreOffice.

[Bug 957924] Re: gedit crashes when opening latex-plugin preferences

2012-05-27 Thread Martin Sass
Had the same problem in 12.04 LTS.
Initially opening the preferences of latex-pluging worked well.
The problem occured first after trying to add new tools in the latex-plugin
settings. I could not add anything so I tried to add the toolchain as a
superuser. That did not work as well. But since then opening the preferences
with normal privileges always caused a crash as decribed above. I tried to use
the latex-plugin with an other ubuntu user were no crash occured.

Finally deleting the files latex.pkl and tools.xml in
~/.config/gedit/latex solved the crash problem for me

[Bug 802153] Re: old /wrong starting sektor on new harddrives with 4k

2012-05-27 Thread trader...@yahoo.co.uk
Disk Utility starts the first partition on an MBR formatted disk at
sector 63. This is a problem because:

  1) There is not enough room for Grub if the OS is installed on RAID and LVM
  2) Causes partition misalignment with physical sectors for modern disks
  3) Causes partition misalignment with erase blocks on SSDs
  4) Windows now defaults to sector 2048 so Disk Utility is behind the times
  5) I cannot find any way to change this in Disk utility
  6) Disk utility is the default GUI partition editor in Ubuntu

I would expect Disk Utility to start the first partition at logical
  sector 1024 or 2048.

I beg to differ that this has low importance. It can lead a user to not
being able to reboot their system after an upgrade to 12.04 because the
Grub core.img is so huge it no longer fits within 62 sectors if the
system has RAID and LVM.

THIS WAS REPORTED 1 YEAR AGO and STILL PERSISTS IN UBUNTU 12.04 Good
grief.

Presumably this is an easy peasy fix so just do it, please, and release
an update.

[Bug 273294] Re: Rhythmbox can not use smb:// as library location

2012-05-27 Thread vtec
I can confirm reappearence of this problem in 12.04 both 32-bit and
64-bit, both clean install and upgrade. For me it is about accessing
WebDAV rather then SMB. It is working flawlessly in 11.10 but in 12.04
you can only get a sound for a second and then silence. Both Rhythmbox
and Banshee are affected but Totem does work properly.

[Bug 805303] Re: Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_widget_style_get: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed with the default qt4 gui

2012-05-27 Thread Doug McMahon
This has re-emerged in the current state of 12.10, though in a more limited
fashion.
(have nvidia card here

Seen clearly by opening vlc going either
Media open disc
or
Tools Preferences clicking on 'Show settings all'
If it doesn't occur the 1st time, then repeat
Removing overlay-scrollbar* this doesn't occur, or switching qt to another
gui like cleanlooks, just like before
(if removing overlay-scrollbar* to test make sure all 3 packages are removed or
you'll not be happy

May be best to wait for A1 to re-open or file new?

[Bug 1005292] [NEW] [Precise] EOG Eye of gnome shows black stripe in pictures

2012-05-27 Thread Adam Niedling
Public bug reported:

I'm using a freshly installed Precise on a fairly old computer.

eog: 3.4.1-0ubuntu1
xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: 1:0.0.16+git20111201+b5534a1-1build2

The problem is that eog shows a black stripe in some of my jpg pictures.
I think the position of the stripe depends on the resolution of the
picture. If the resolution is high the stripe is located close to the
top, if it's medium the stripe is in the middle. If the resolution is
low then there is no black stripe. Please take a look at the sample
images.

I used the printscreen button to create the eog version of the images.

[Bug 1005299] [NEW] Rhythmbox group tags edition does not works correctly

2012-05-27 Thread Andrew Grabko
Public bug reported:

There is an issue with group tags edition. For example, when I select
several songs and want to set the same album name, operation succeed.
But when rhytmbox is relaunched, titles for all songs, participated in
album renaming, became the same as for the first selected song. This is
also true for the case when I change song titles one by one using
'Forward' and 'Back' buttons in Properties dialog, or when I chane title
for a song, then close the dialog and then change the title for another
song. Tags edition works correctly only when I relaunch rhythmbox after
every single change.

[Bug 1005306] [NEW] gnome-terminal always opens in $HOME

2012-05-27 Thread genesys87
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 12.04, 32 bit; gnome-terminal 3.4.1.1

If I issue the command:
gnome-terminal --working-directory=any directory
it always opens in $HOME instead of the written any directory.
Same thing happens if I open a new tab (Ctrl+Shift+T) from any directory
different from $HOME.
I also believe this bug affects the nautilus-open-terminal package, since no
matter what directory I am in nautilus, it always open gnome-terminal in $HOME.

Re: [Bug 273294] Re: Rhythmbox can not use smb:// as library location

2012-05-27 Thread Larry Laird
I gave up on that Itunes wannabe a long time ago.

On 05/27/2012 03:15 PM, vtec wrote:
I can confirm reappearence of this problem in 12.04 both 32-bit and
64-bit, both clean install and upgrade. For me it is about accessing
WebDAV rather then SMB. It is working flawlessly in 11.10 but in 12.04
you can only get a sound for a second and then silence. Both Rhythmbox
and Banshee are affected but Totem does work properly.

I can no longer repro this with 0.12.2-0ubuntu2. The upstream bug was
also closed 7 months ago as non-repro so I think this has been fixed.
