[Bug 1005403] [NEW] Brasero is a mess, does not burn properly, fails and can't eject??
Public bug reported: Brasero is a total mess, it doesn't work. After it makes me wait forever to burn a disk it says its !00% done, it then states that an error occured while burning and some file smay be corrupted...which of course they are. It has cost me at leat 20-30 dvd's so far. On top of that it can't even eject a dvd? The eject issue happens EVERYTIME I burn something and the error message happens about 80-90% of the time. I see now many other have the same problem. ** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1005403 Title: Brasero is a mess, does not burn properly, fails and can't eject?? [Bug 878993] Re: x.org lockup after dragging archived file to desktop
I'd like to confirm the weird behavior reported by kjoe in posts #23 and #25. In fact, kjoe, this weird every second time behavior seems to happen on a per target basis. Try dnd-extracting to target1 (e.g., desktop), target 2 (some folder), target 1, target 2, and so on, without striving the other target with the mouse in between the individual trials (place your windows accordingly). When I did that, using file-roller, I got Crash (on target 1), Crash ( on target 2), Success (t1), Success (t2), Crash (t1), Crash (t2) and so forth. Can this be confirmed? Side note: The bug has been reported at pcmanfm bugtracker already (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=3496591group_id=156956atid=801864). They indicate that the actual bug is originated within pcmanfm, whereas the X-blocking is due to the way file-roller is handling the error situation. [Bug 1005531] Re: Editing irc port is hard
Thanks for your bug report and helping to makle Ubuntu better. You have the option in empathy to edit which port is used first. In the account wizard, click the IRC connection you want to change Click to Edit Connection Parameters Click Freenode (Thats the Ubuntu server) Click edit when freenode is selected in the server list Expand the window down, and select the freenode listing with 8001 as the port, then using the up arrow click it until it does grey and you've made 8001 the default server port that empathy will use. Although, That's too many steps and quite confusing for the average user. [Bug 969359] Re: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu
This may have been happening as early as Maverick (Bug #658342). At that time it was marked as a duplicate Multiple Keyboard Layouts unusable: continuously changes layout + 100% CPU usage (Bug #625793). I have head keyboard layouts mentioned here ~ so maybe. As far as I know I am not using multiple layouts. One thing I do observe ( probably totally irrelevant). I often hear my CPU fan pitch change when I leave my Ubuntu Desktop running long enough for the screen to go dark (especially I am running a Flash video in Youtube or something). I only mention this because I know that the idle-activation-enabled setting is related to the gnome-settings-daemon (at least to gsettings / dconf-editor) (http://askubuntu.com/questions/67355/how-do-i-completely-turn-off-screensaver-and-power-management). I cant find what's causing it because as so as I restore the screen to normal - CPU utilization goes back to normal. So if I wanted to do an experiment to see if it was gnome-settings- daemon was going berzerk while I was away I would need a console based way to capture CPU utilization for just that particular PID. I was thinking : top -b -p PID but that is a mess. Does anybody have a better idea. [Bug 1005245] [NEW] Keyboard indicator does not respond to layout change
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have two layouts on this computer: Estonian and Russian. There is no English. Here is how I reproduce this reliably: 1. Log in to fresh Unity session 2. Open LibreOffice Writer 3. Type random text in Estonian, which is the default layout 4. Press alt+shift. Further text will be Russian, but the indicator next to the clock still shows Estonian. 5. Alt+shift back to Estonian, the to Russian again. The indicator shows Russian as it should. From now on, it will keep functioning properly. [Bug 1005495] [NEW] Change brightness keys don't work on Acer Aspire One D270
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Pressing Fn+right/left should change the brightness of the display on my Acer Aspire One D270 netbook but it doesn't. I've read several times about the workaround which consists of adding acpi_backlight=vendor to /etc/default/grub but it doesn't work in that particular case. Please tell me which additional information you need to address this problem. [Bug 969359] Re: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu
That whole bit about the CPU fan might be totally irrelevant after all. As it turns out - that is a different bug: [fglrx] compiz uses 100% CPU when screen turns off (spinning in glXWaitVideoSyncSGI or glXSwapBuffers) Bug #969860 that the team is familiar with. That bug has to do with compiz and this is settings daemon - however they may be the same if cmpiz uses settings daemon under the covers. The solve for that bug (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11936668) is related to the AMD Catalyst Control Center - in my case I'm using the ATI Radeon5700 graphics driver. Is anybody experiencing this bug not using AMD/ATI. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969359 Title: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/969359/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
