[Bug 1016406] Re: command field appears when playing a movie

2012-06-24 Thread el_gallo_azul
I just noticed that it also happens when playing a movie when it's not
in full-screen mode.

** Summary changed:

- command field appears when playing a movie in full screen
+ command field appears when playing a movie

** Description changed:

- When playing a movie in full-screen, a command field (that looks like
- the Alt-F2 command field) appears after about 10 seconds.
+ When playing a movie, a command field (that looks like the Alt-F2
+ command field) appears after about 10 seconds.

It is possible to hit Esc once to make it go away, but it comes back
  after about another 10 seconds.

  I attach a screen shot.

2012-06-24 Thread kamahat
I did not realize before but I've had an update the 2012-05-30 and the
package gnome-settings-daemon was updated (from 3.4.0 to release
3.4.2-0ubuntu0.1) and the file /usr/lib/gnome-settings-
daemon-3.0/keyboard.gnome-settings-plugin restored.

Since I have no more issue.
Confirmed for you ?

** Description changed:

nautilus-sendto crashes immediately when being opened from Nautilus or
  Shotwell.

This is caused by the Evolution plugin:
after reporting this crash I have moved all plugins except libnstevolution.so
out of /usr/lib/nautilus-sendto/plugins and it still crashes.
Moving only libnstevolution.so away fixes the crash, but does not allow to
send the file by mail anymore (would the evolution plugin hand over to
Thunderbird anyway?!)

- It does not happen when using the guest session, and is therefore likely
- related to the configuration I have for my user.

[Bug 1017097] [NEW] Ubuntu does not warn of degraded software raid

2012-06-24 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

I'm using a software raid5 with three disks as /home.

Before migrating to a software raid I had faulty hard disks and was warned by a
popup after login.
Now, using the raid, there is no warning of any degraded status.

My expectation is that the system tells me that the raid is degraded.
Either by a notification after login or any other means that doesn't involve
sending a mail.

Actually I don't know if the gnome-disk-utility is the correct package.
I don't know either if failure warings of single HDDs work in Ubuntu at all any
more.
My expertise is from past versions of Ubuntu.

[Bug 1017100] Crash report cannot be processed

2012-06-24 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

outdated debug symbol package for libstdc++6: package version 4.7.1-2ubuntu1
dbgsym version 4.7.0-13ubuntu1
outdated debug symbol package for libevince3-3: package version 3.5.2-0ubuntu3
dbgsym version 3.4.0-0ubuntu1

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks for the report. Could you try playing the file with gstreamer

Something like

and see if the same happens there.

[Bug 1008605] Re: Playback stops for particular track after 1 min 41 sec (repeatable)

2012-06-24 Thread Iain Lane
Cheers, so that shows that the problem isn't specific to Rhythmbox but
is due to something in GStreamer itself. Could you file a bug with the
upstream developers at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=GStreamer ? Attaching
the file (if you are able) would help.

[Bug 1017156] [NEW] Selecting a folder shows a small summary that sometimes obstructs the name of the folder selected

2012-06-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

1)Ubuntu 11.04
2)No package
3)When I select a folder, Ubuntu shows a small summary like: ABC selected
(containing 10 items) at the bottom of the window. This is nice.
4) The problem is that if I select the bottom-most folder in the window, this
comes on top of the folder name and so I cannot see the name of the folder.
This gets really irritating at times.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 42720] Re: Copying files to webdav broken (first completely copied to RAM and then transfered)

2012-06-24 Thread Jasauders
I've done some testing around in this area as well as discovered some
information that may be relevant to this bug, so I wanted to update it
here. I'm doing all of this on my LAN, as my server resides on my LAN.
I'm also working on a gigabit connection. I was able to push 8,000 files
amounting to 30GB to my WebDAV server with 0 issues from my desktop,
which is the system I mentioned above with 8GB of RAM. I saw no memory
spike whatsoever. Likewise, if I sent a single 5.9GB file to my WebDAV
server, it spiked and when the file had sent roughly 4GB of the 5.9GB
size, it tanked the connection with the RAM nearly 100% maxed.

It seemed to play significantly nicer with smaller files, such as the
8,000 above (30GB) that it had zero issues with. I have to assume that
it's caching the files prior to sending them, and the system is able to
let go of the cached files once they're already sent, thereby resulting
in no visible memory spike. LIkewise, the singular 5.9GB file is one
solid large file would have nothing to let go since it's one
continuous file. That's probably where the 8,000 file scenario has an
advantage.

When I ran into this bug I decided to try out alternatives. I found
davfs2 which mounts WebDAV shares via terminal. Davfs2 had the same
issue, however I realized it was more reliant on hard disk space versus
RAM. A quick read of the man page of davfs showed:

##
Caching

mount.davfs tries to reduce HTTP-trafic by caching and reusing data.
Information about directories and files are held in memory, while
downloaded files are cached on disk.

mount.davfs will consider cached information about directories and file
attributes valid for a configurable time and look up this information on the
server only after this time has expired (or there is other evidence that this
information is stale). So if somebody else creates or deletes files on the
server it may take some time before the local file system reflects this.
##

I can't help but to wonder... if davfs caches by default, is that to
suggest Nautilus/.gvfs is actually handling WebDAV services as intended?
Can any devs comment on this info?

[Bug 987220] Re: System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI

2012-06-24 Thread Matt
HI All,
From what I have read there seem to be several problems within this thread. I
am having the same issue as originally stated. When powering down or
restarting the system seems to hang, the operating system shuts down but the
hardware never turns off.

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a Dell D630 core duo. I have 2GB of Ram
and I am running Nvidia graphics. I have gone into the BIOS and disabled
all unnecessary hardware( modem, bluetooth and a few others)

As a side note upon the original installation of the OS the shutdown and
restart worked fine. The problems did not start until the second update
of the operating system. Then it would not restart properly, then the
third or fourth update the shutdown would not work properly.

[Bug 1017208] [NEW] file deleted from different location

2012-06-24 Thread Kundan Kumar
Public bug reported:

The description of situation
Nautilus was open, then I connected my phone in storage mode, then opened the
phone directory in tab of same nautilus window
opened another tab with my Music folder
in the first tab I copied some images and pasted in phone memory

Problem 1: instead of copying to phone memory the images were duplicated in
same image directory.
Problem 2: when I tried to delete those duplicate images after selecting them.
I used Shift+Del to delete those duplicate files. it deleted my whole Music
directory contents :(. now I don't have my saved tracks.

I have noticed this copy and move problem while I insert any USB Drive
and open directory in tab. I think this happens only when you have
running nautilus window and then you open a new inserted USB Drive
contents in new tab.

Please fix this issue if this is a BUG. and if its not a BUG please tell
me how to solve this. I lost my all Mp3 files now I don't have my Music
this made me hate nautilus/Ubuntu for the first time. as this kind of
thing never happened on windows atleast

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #758431 (libsoup)

As libsoup needs to be set to strict ssl and fed a ca path before it does
correct SSL checking, evolution-data-server is likely not doing SSL certificate
checking correctly.

Soup users I spotted:

Groupwise protocol handling (server/groupwise/e-gw-connection.c)
Exchange protocol handling (server/exchange/lib/e2k-context.c)
Google (servers/google/libgdata-google/gdata-google-service.c)
calendar/backends/http/e-cal-backend-http.c
calendar/backends/caldav/e-cal-backend-caldav.c

From Midori fix:
g_object_set (session,
 ssl-ca-file, /etc/ssl/ca-bundle.pem,
 ssl-strict, TRUE
);

(e-d-s needs some handling of SSL cert verification failures though, otherwise
it will just failt.)

[Bug 988138] Re: Iagno hangs every game or two in Ubuntu 12.04, is very slow to take AI turns, crashes, loops sounds and gives wrong score in the end. Worked fine in 11.10

2012-06-24 Thread Derek
So. Yeah, the AI is quite a bit dumber, but here's another score that was
entertaining to post.
Final stats.
Light: Human
Dark: AI
Dark: 20
Light: 13

Light player wins!

Yes, the message contradicts the score :)
(actual score on the board was Dark: 0 Light: 38 - AI didn't move for like 7
years or so)

And, yeah, Iagno still regularly crashes, although trying to search for
it on errors.ubuntu.com doesn't seem to work.

Hm. One reason it might not show up on errors.ubuntu.com is that it just
crashed on me 4 times in the past half hour, and only one of them popped
up an error report.

[Bug 987220] Re: System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI

2012-06-24 Thread Matt
I removed

Nvidia accelerated graphics driver (version current)[recommended]

NVIDIA accelerated hraphics Driver (post-release updated) (version
current-updates)

I am now completely free of proprietary drivers and so far it seems to
have worked. I rebooted twice and it the problem was not there.

Now the question is what in the drivers is causing the problem.

[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)

2012-06-24 Thread Aaron Haviland
I did not have this issue until today, which I think resulted from an
upgrade to gnome-settings-daemon. This morning, apt-get pulled in, among
other things, a new version of g-s-d:

gnome-settings-daemon:
  Installed: 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.1
  Candidate: 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.1
  Version table:
 *** 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.1 0
500 http://mirrors.rit.edu/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 3.4.1-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://mirrors.rit.edu/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages

However, I have not logged out since the update, and upon returning to a
screensaver state, I found the bug as described above. Restarting g-s-d seems
to have made the problem go away, for now. I postulate from my experience that
some occurrences might result from an upgraded g-s-d not being restarted and
therefore an old binary (still running) that is attempting to use new data
files?

[Bug 1006610] Re: .aup files open in Firefox instead of Audacity

2012-06-24 Thread Benjamin Drung
You describe two issues:
1) Audacity cannot be configured as default application for .aup files (via
Properties - Open With in Nautilus)
2) Audacity is not the default application for .aup files

Point one can be fixed in audacity by fixing the desktop file. This bug
will be fixed in the coming days when my next upload 2.0.1~rc1-2 of
Audacity to Debian unstable is synced to quantal. I uploaded the same
fix to precise-proposed (patch attached).

Point two can be fixed by adding 'application/x-audacity-
project=audacity.desktop' to /usr/share/applications/defaults.list which
needs to be done in desktop-file-utils.

** Patch added: audacity_2.0.0-1ubuntu0.1.debdiff

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/desktop-file-utils/+bug/1006610/+attachment/3203026/+files/audacity_2.0.0-1ubuntu0.1.debdiff

** Changed in: audacity (Ubuntu Precise)
   Status: New = Fix Committed

** Description changed:

When I double click a .aup file it will by default open in Firefox. I
can manually right click it and go to open with, but it should be
  opening in Audacity.

Also, when one right clicks the file, then Properties - Open With,
Audacity is not listed as an option.
+
+ Part 1: Audacity cannot be configured as default application for .aup files
(via Properties - Open With in Nautilus)
+ Part 2: Audacity is not the default application for .aup files
+
+ [TESTCASE for part 1]
+ 1) Open Nautilus
+ 2) Right click on an .aup file, then Properties - Open With
+ 3) Select Audacity as default
+
+ [TESTCASE for part 2]
+ 1) Open Nautilus
+ 2) Right click on an .aup file, then Properties - Open With - Reset
+ 3) Audacity should be the default
