[Bug 1005729] Re: gnome-terminal resizes to max height when mousing over gnome panel

2012-06-27 Thread Chris Billington
I'm experiencing this bug too.

The deciding factor as to which windows move and which don't, when I
mouse-over the launchers on gnome-panel, appears to be whether that
window has at any point in the past had an overlap outside of the screen
struts, ie it has been anywhere that a newly created or maximised window
could not be.

So if I drag a window halfway off the bottom of the screen, or a few
pixels underneath a panel, even if I drag it back, it will then move
around randomly whenever I mouse-over the launchers on gnome-panel.

It's kinda weird.

@Peter
That's because you probably do not have the same problems like I described in
my starting post.
Removing the nvidia driver already helped others who had the same problem. All
those who's system behavior differs from the described one should open another
bug report.

[Bug 1018332] [NEW] Opening Image Viewer restarts lightdm

Public bug reported:

When opening certain images (usually those from dropbox or coming by
email) with GNOME Image Viewer the session is suddenly closed like
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace and I'm back to the login screen. Opening them with

[Bug 1018346] [NEW] CTRL key = Primary ... sometimes

2012-06-27 Thread Adi Dobrota
Public bug reported:

freshly installed Ubuntu 12.04 and gnome-shell, using gnome with no
effects

gnome-control-center:
  Installed: 1:3.4.2-0ubuntu0.2
  Candidate: 1:3.4.2-0ubuntu0.2

left CTRL key seems to be interpreted as PRIMARY key, however it only happens
in certain enviroments
for example in firefox left CTRL + T does NOT open a new tab, it needs right
CTRL + T , however left CTRL + click a link DOES correctly open the link in a
new tab. Same key seems to be interpreted differently by the same application
(firefox in this case)

same thing applies to keyboard shortcuts - I defined CTRL + F1 = move window
to workspace 1, but only right control works, left control doesn't.
CTRL+ALT+T for open terminal works with left CTRL
CTRL+C or V for copy/paste does not work with left CTRL in any enviroment.

anyone else experiencing this?

no, this doesn't seem to me to be:

[Bug 878492] Re: Keyboard shortcut - F10 shortcut is used to show menu and this is wrong

2012-06-27 Thread brewmanz
I am running Ubuntu 11.10 AMD-64, applied all fixes, tried various
work-arounds, rebooted a few times, and pressing F10 still displays first menu
list. As something of a newbie with Ubuntu, I'll be honest and say that I can't
understand quite a bit of the jargon that goes on - what's gtk? unity? 2D vs
3D?
At the end of the day, all I want is for Ubunut to allow me to press F10 and
have it passed through to the app - in my case VirtualBox running Windows with
Visual Studio debugging step being F10.
Please can someone tell me how to achieve that. Thanks.

[Bug 1018371] [NEW] Unable to open multiple files in Firefox from Nautilus at once

2012-06-27 Thread Tomislav
Public bug reported:

Selected a number of XML files in Nautilus, open with - Firefox and
Firefox opens 3 out of 4 files. The 4th is missing and I see no pattern
in which file fails to open.

When I select just the missing file, I can open it in Firefox without a
problem. Also, the problem is not reproducible from the terminal
(firefox *.XML) so I imagine it has something to do with Firefox.

Not a big issue, but 100% repeatable: I don't imagine it should be
difficult to reproduce.

[Bug 531516] Re: Evince can't handle radio buttons anymore

2012-06-27 Thread Jonathan Thornburg
This same bug (or at least what looks like this same bug) is still present as of
Evince 3.2.1p1 running on OpenBSD 5.1-stable amd64, using the twm window
manager.

My test pdf file is US Treasury Form 90-22.1 (revised 1-2012), available from
  http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f90221.pdf

If (after downloading that file, which is a fillable PDF form), I type evince
f90221.pdf
then I can find no way to select one of the radioboxes for item 2. In
particular, clicking
on or around any of the options has no visible affect on these radioboxes, nor
does typing
any character I can think of.

'evince --version' reports
  GNOME Document Viewer 3.2.1

The form works fine using Acrobat 9.5.1 Pro Extended under Windows 7
Ultimate SP1.

[Bug 1011436] Re: Sound recorder can not play after recording and saving the first one

2012-06-27 Thread James M. Leddy
Thanks! I was planning on fwding to the gnome bugzilla but haven't
gotten around to it yet. What the patch does is reinitialize a state
variable when recording a new file so that clicking play doesn't try
to play a previously saved (and now closed fd) file. This bug hit's
anytime the recording is saved, even if it's saved with ctrl+s or
similar since that's what changes the state variable.

[Bug 1018543] Re: evince fails to upgrade in GNome-shell 3.5

2012-06-27 Thread Linuxexperte
hi Jeremy,

I found out something, what might perhaps interest you:

I think, I found a possible reason for this error. Because the error
resolved, after I uninstalled evince completely through Synaptic and
then it removed the package libevince3-3 and installed libevview3-3
instead. And since then, this error did not return anymore. Perhaps it
is possible, that this package libevince3-3 is no longer needed, because
libevview 3-3 took over??? Can this be a thing??

Can you try to reproduce this error throug the following way:

just open the Software-Updater in Gnome-Shell 3.5 and fetch the upgrade.

Does ist tell you the same error then?? And then close this and go to
the Terminal and try the following commands:

sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Then it brings up this error. Then it suggest to use the command -f

So I did that, but the error came again. So I closed Terminal ans went
to Synaptic and opened it. Then I uninstalled evince completely and re-
installed it and this seems to resolve this by removeing libevince3-3
and replacing it with libevview 3-3.

Can you check this for me please if the same thing happenes for you??

Greetings
Linuxexperte

[Bug 978259] Re: gdm removes sbin directories from user paths

2012-06-27 Thread Nathan Grennan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 844103 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/844103

It isn't that /etc/environment isn't being read. It is that something
is overwriting the PATH. The lines below in /etc/pam.d/gdm do cause it
to read /etc/environment. I can add things to /etc/environment and they
will appear in my environment. Yet my PATH is still without sbins.

/etc/pam.d/gdm:
authrequiredpam_env.so readenv=1
authrequiredpam_env.so readenv=1 envfile=/etc/default/locale

[lcms2] porting

here there is another step, some private functions have been imported
from lcms2, but some small changes to cietonguewidget.cpp were needed
too.

Interface is now complete (with the exception of two informational
functions), results however are still wrong and further testing is
needed (below an example).

[Bug 1018665] [NEW] Evince cannot view XPS documents

2012-06-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

libgxps claims to be the library to allow Evince to view XPS documents.
I have an XPS document and it simply complains that it's a ZIP file.

Not sure if this should be logged against libgxps or Evince.

There are newer Evince in the repositories, apparently, but it's always
difficult to know what might break what, so I haven't tested them.

[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)

2012-06-27 Thread Richard Rath
Is it possible this is a browser script? I noticed it right away bc I
have a laptop keyboard and it immediately started sending numbers
instead of the letters I was typing. Is it possible that a browser
script could inject this? I was at a dubious website when it happened,
looking to rip audio from youtube on linux. Other people have
associated it with the browser as well. This is a pretty major security
issue if it is the case, as it involves settings owned by root I think.
plz don't tell RIAA ;)

[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)

2012-06-27 Thread Richard Rath
I did the file rename in #33, logged out and back in again and restored
the keyboard.gnome-settings-plugin filename and the problem did not come
back. I went to my browser history and reloaded all the pages at the
time the keyboard error kicked in and none of them set off the num lock
error. So I'm ast least guilty of attributing cause to correlation.

on the up side, restoring the keyboard file, which appears to be just a
list of languages in their own scripts to indicate keyboard layouts, did
not cause the numlock problem to recur, so maybe folks who need that
file can safely restore it after deleting and logging out and in. gnome
settings daemon is happily sleeping at 0%cpu and numlock is off. Yay.
Thank you Mike M for posting the workaround.
