[Bug 1029285] [NEW] Disappearing options from burn menu
Public bug reported: In some situations, the burn options (use burnproof, leave session open, etc.) are inexplicably missing from the burn menu. When this happens, it cannot be fixed by restarting the application, logging out, rebooting the machine, or doing an uninstall/complete removal/reinstall of the application. One situation in which this seems to reliably occur is when using DVD+RW media. However, I've also seen it other times as well. I have 3 different machines and I've seen it on all 3 at various times. Debug output from 'brasero -g' attached as brasero-debug.txt. [Bug 1029339] [NEW] Battery time remaining fluctuates wildly, despite charge declining predictably
Public bug reported: Please take a look at the attachment. The percentage charge remaining on my battery appears to show my battery emptying fairly predictably (graph #1). However, the very important Time to Empty statistic fluctuates quite a lot (graph #2). Certainly more than the charge remaining graph suggests it should. I believe this is because of the rate of power consumption (graph #3). I believe that the Time to Empty statistic should be refined to take into account a longer period of time previously. Clearly the statistic needs to change if more power demanding activities are being carried out. However, it shouldn't change so rapidly - brief fluctuates should effectively be ignored. The Time to Empty number is incredibly important to users' use of portable devices. Note: this may be something that needs addressing in one of gnome-power- manager's dependencies, I don't know the stack well enough. So please reassign if necessary. [Bug 585750] Re: Refresh closes any expanded folders
upstream closed the bug with that comment My understanding of this is that it only affects the tree like structure that used to be in list view. This is no longer in master. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use. By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME. ** Description changed: We are running Gnome 3 on 12.04. The gnome terminal output is kind of broken. When reaching the last line it somehow begins acting strange. [Bug 987220] Re: System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI
At last tried it myself and - with NVidia proprietary driver back installed - problem is present. The solution i've got seems not working for me neither. So i suppose it does work in some cases - but is not (and shouldn't be treated as) solving the issue for everyone. For now i don't have NVidia installed and things are fine, graphic improved a little with recent updates. [Bug 1029416] [NEW] google talk has stopped accepting logins from empathy
Public bug reported: google talk works from the web but not from empathy. login fail / not accepting password. system redials every few seconds automatically notifying me that a password is required, but there is one in the field - I have since readded the password, to no avail. Removing the password entirely and then adding it from the plus sign on the error box in the contact list does not add the password to the account, even when checked. Adding the password to the account in the account page and logging in creates a strange situation where the login never succeeds nor fails, until you turn the account off and back on again to restart the process. at that point it returns to normal (having the password, and erroring out). release 11.10 package: $ apt-cache policy pkgname N: Unable to locate package pkgname expected: login as usual this morning happened: network error that does not go away and annoys the heck out of me with automatic alerts every so often ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: empathy 3.2.0.1-0ubuntu1.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-22.36-generic 3.0.33 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-22-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Jul 26 08:14:43 2012 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/empathy SourcePackage: empathy UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2012-05-02 (85 days ago) ** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug apport-lpi i386 oneiric running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029416 Title: google talk has stopped accepting logins from empathy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1029416/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1029489] [NEW] turning on locate-pointer breaks scroll zoom a bit
Public bug reported: When I turn on locate-pointer, [org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.mouse] locate-pointer=true I get unwanted behaviour with scroll-to-zoom in firefox and other applications. If I hold in the control key, the pointer locates, but then I cannot scroll to zoom. If I continue to hold in the control key, then as soon as I have clicked or tapped space ( I think any key or click ) then the scroll-to-zoom works again. This is however super annoying to someone who likes both features. I guess locate-pointer grabs the initial conrol-key press, but is there no way to fix this? ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029489 Title: turning on locate-pointer breaks scroll zoom a bit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1029489/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)
I can confirm this bug also, custom machine, AMD 64, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x64 fully up to date (this was upgrade from 11.04), ATI video card with FGLRX driver from additional drivers (not post release). I have been trying to pin down the cause for 3 weeks. It appears to be triggered somewhere after (not immediately) when the screen saver or power settings puts monitor to sleep (issue sometimes happening after lunch, but usually happens over night). I have tried both built in blanking and xscreensaver same result. Disabling the power settings and screen savers/blanking prevents the problem from happening. The issues I see are number lock flashing, gnome-settings-daemon using 100% CPU, and constant drive activity. Killing the process does nothing as it is respawned and problem continues. heavy disk activity is caused by ~/.xsession-errors being continuously filled with: (gnome-settings-daemon:15439): libappindicator-CRITICAL **: app_indicator_set_label: assertion `IS_APP_INDICATOR (self)' failed this issues makes machine near-unusable. Logging out (or killing X with Alt+SysReq+K) and logging back in stops the problem. I am about to try the suggestion in comment #33 as I do not need multiple keyboard layouts (but few of my customers do so this is not fix for them) This does not happen every day, but it does appear to happen more often when I have my video card doing hashing calculations overnight (mining for bitcoins). I am not sure how the video relates to keyboard layout/this issue, but they appear connected somehow -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969359 Title: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/969359/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Justin wrote in bug 978809 which refere to oneiric: There might be multiple issues here, but I don't recall exactly the chain of events. I started by opening a folder via the Dropbox indicator and then opened a nautilus tab by clicking on one of my bookmarks on the left. At this point, copy/paste, etc. were disabled in the folder I originally opened and the properties window for any object in the Dropbox folder indicated that I was supposedly clicking on the folder I had opened in the second tab. Very strange. Then, I reloaded the Dropbox folder/tab a few times (crtl+r) with no change in the context menu (copy/paste still disabled). Finally I changed folders in the first tab, the Dropbox folder tab, by clicking on a different bookmark or something higher in the hierarchy from the bar at the top. Nautilus then crashed. ** Tags added: i386 oneiric ** Tags added: precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1017232 Title: nautilus crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1017232/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 841315] Re: on thinkpad-acpi devices, brightness setting ommits most steps
I'm affected too: ThinkPad X200 and X220 w/ Ubuntu 12.04. In fact this is a kernel bug and there already is a patch in mainline: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=ff413195e830541afeae469fc866ecd0319abd7e I can confirm that the patch works for me an some more Thinkpad users when applied to the current Precise kernel 3.2.0-27.43 and I *strongly* suggest to integrate this patch in the Precise kernel. Kernel packages including this patch can be found in my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~linrunner/+archive/thinkpad-extras -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/841315 Title: on thinkpad-acpi devices, brightness setting ommits most steps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/841315/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
