[Bug 998156] Re: GTK Print dialog sends broken custom page size attribute: PageSize=Custom.Custom.widthxlength
This also affects Evince and Gedit. I discovered the bug whilst trying to print using Evince to a custom page size (A4 but with a 40mm left border) which I called Sunshine Border. Both preview and printing either fail or sometimes print using default A4 margins. I was trying to track down the cause for that inconsistency and followed a bug-trail to this report. I compared Evince against Gedit. After selecting the custom size in the Print dialog (in my case Sunshine Border) I found Gedit's preview will show the 40mm border, but printing fails... ... UNLESS I have previously used the CUPS printer administration to set the default page-size to 'Custom' and entered the 210x297 millimetre values. http://localhost:631/admin/ Printers DESKJET-995C Administration Set Default Options... Media Size = Custom, Width=210, Height=297, Units=Millimeters Set Default Options. I noticed in CUPS error_log that PageSize wasn't 0x0 for me (only get that when selecting Custom when the size hasn't been configured in CUPS administrator): PageSize=Custom.Custom.595.28x841.89 At first I thought this was in millimeters and is wrong, but then realised the units are points (1 PostScript point = 0.35278 millimetres). So, in summary: Gedit: Can print using custom paper size as long as CUPS default custom size is also configured, and custom margins are honoured. Evince: Can print using custom paper size as long as CUPS default custom size is also configured, but custom margins are ignored. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/998156 Title: GTK Print dialog sends broken custom page size attribute: PageSize=Custom.Custom.widthxlength To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/998156/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1029912] [NEW] Evince ignores custom page size margins
Public bug reported: Affects 12.04 Precise. This appears identical to bug #348202 Impossible to print to custom page size in Evince. Evince doesn't respect a custom paper size with a reduced margin ( for printing on pre-printed paper). Using a HP Deskjet 995C A4 ink-jet printer with duplexer which contains pre-printed A4 paper stock. This paper has a printed border down the left side. Avoiding it requires the page to use a 40mm left margin. I need a custom paper size based on the A4 210x297mm size with margins 12.7, 12.7, 40.0, 3.2 mm. In Evince I did: File Print... General Printer = DESKJET-995C Page Setup Paper size Manage Custom Sizes... Margins from Printer... DESKJET-995C Paper Margins: Left = 40.0 Name = Sunshine Border Close Paper size = Sunshine Border Print The result is as if printing to the standard A4 paper-size. The left margin is not honoured. I found that Gedit does honour the margin. [Bug 1029894] Re: Shotwell drag and drop does not work.
This ticket really should be marked invalid -- and I say this as an upstream Shotwell dev. Shotwell can be run in two modes. One of these modes is library mode, where Shotwell manages a library of photos, allowing tagging, events, etc. However, Shotwell can also be invoked in direct edit mode, where Shotwell is invoked on a single image to allow quick re-touching, etc. In the video, Shotwell is running in direct edit mode. Drag and drop has never been supported in direct edit mode, since the whole point of direct edit mode is to directly edit a single photo. Drag and drop only works in library mode for importing and exporting photos to and from the Shotwell library. So Shotwell is functioning as designed. If drag drop in direct edit mode is a desired feature in Shotwell, that should be opened as a feature request on our upstream bug tracker at http://redmine.yorba.org. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shotwell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029894 Title: Shotwell drag and drop does not work. [Bug 1029965] [NEW] Add chat client selection
Public bug reported: This is almost but not quite an enhancement request. I'm tripping over bugs in Empathy that I don't encounter with Pidgin. [Bug 1022488] Re: [region]: does not modify /etc/default/keyboard
As I wrote early: I'm using English (default) and Russian layouts with toggle by Caps key. I've tried other toggle buttons (e.g., Ctrl+Shift) and I've checked xkb-data version 2.5-1ubuntu1 (precise) and 2.5-1ubuntu1.3 (precise-proposed). Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a regular (non-security) bug. [Bug 1030125] [NEW] Power Statistics UI comes up blank after having been closed with the window close button instead of the dedicated Close button in the UI

[Bug 885989] Re: white screen on second monitor when using two xsessions
I've found using Metacity (vs Compiz) as my system's window decorator allows me better control of programs shown on any additional screens, whilst disabling most of my Composite/3D Acceleration. (Looking into the composite/3d issue further may result on a solution, I'm just not willing to bother) After applying the patch, play around with different managers and see if you can get the desired results. Like I said, Metacity actually decorated windows I spawn on any display/screen which allows me to interact with said windows once they have been created. Additionally, I have since migrated away from Ubuntu to stock Debian. I am also looking into Ubuntu variants, such as Lubuntu and Xubuntu to see what dual-head support they may provide. Again, with all the respect in the word to the developers of this and every other program available to me today, I don't understand how Nautilus is the default file manager for Ubuntu with such problems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885989 Title: white screen on second monitor when using two xsessions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/885989/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1030185] [NEW] Incomplete FTP file listings ( NOT related to large listings)
Public bug reported: An odd behavior in FTP nautilus , not shared by other systems connecting to the same FTP server is files with apparently proper file permissions are not showing up in the nautilus display. The behavior is consistent after reboot as are the files not being shown. Apparently upon reaching a certain point in the file listing the remainder simply are not displayed. Files not displayed include text files (.php), binaries ,and sub-directories These are by no means large file listings either, having perhaps less than 100 entries. Other systems (Mac in this case) were able to display all the files ,which leads me to believe this to be a bug relating to nautilus or one of it's sub-components involved in FTP based interactions. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again.
