[Bug 1034080] Re: no About menu item

2012-08-09 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Just to correct things. Marlin is no longer developed by the Elementary
team. The maintainer had some issues with the Elementary project and
they decided to continue the development under the name pantheon-files
instead. Pantheon-files is now a much better product than Marlin due to
a much more rapid development pace and strong leadership. So don't
consider Marlin, consider Pantheon-files.

2012-08-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
is that an important fix for you? 12.04.1 desktop freeze was last week
and I'm wondering if you wanted to try to get sneaked it in there or if
having an update after the .1 release (which will be in 12.04.2 then)
would be ok?

[Bug 1034875] [NEW] gnome-control-center hangs and behaves strange changing user's name in User Accounts

2012-08-09 Thread Facundo Almeida
Public bug reported:

Try this:

1- Open System Settings and go to the User Accounts section.
2- Add an user.
3- Log out and login with that user.

[Bug 983291] Re: Screen Rotation options only Counterclockwise Clockwise

2012-08-09 Thread christopherreay
Hi.

I have discovered the reason for this issue.

It is not a bug, per say, though the interface and the information given to the
user are confusing and broken
The reason that normal and 180 degrees are not made available in the screen
display settings is that UNITY (which i Hate btw) uses your graphics card's 3D
rendering (lord knows why) by default.
What you will find is that the maximum horizontal size of your threeD rendering
space is less than the width of your two minitors combined.
So the interface does not show that option.
This is also why the normal a rotation is available normally

IF you log out and set the session to Ubuntu 2D all these problems
will disappear.

Secondly I think the way that tranqy was spoken to is totally outside
the premise of Ubuntu and of LaunchPad and of this bug. Sebastien, you
clearly did not take the time to understand this bug and were rude to a
user for no reason and sent someone away from the Ubuntu community.
Shame on you.

Regards,

Christopher Reay

The first time you boot the live USB persistent key, everything is ok, when you

[Bug 1034904] [NEW] Sometimes the thumbnails in a folder are not refreshed when I change an image file

2012-08-09 Thread Facundo Almeida
Public bug reported:

Try this:

1- Take a screenshot and save to the Images folder.
2- Open the Images folder and do not close it.
3- Modify the image (the screenshot) with an application like GIMP.
4- Look in the Images folder and see if the screenshot's thumbnail changed. If
not, you need to refresh with F5.

If you change the image rotating it with EOG (for example), the
thumbnail does change automatically.

[Bug 1034949] [NEW] Keyboard shortcuts in menus do not always work

2012-08-09 Thread Greg Bowler
Public bug reported:

tl;dr menu key followed by letter does not always highlight menu item.

I am a user that prefers using the keyboard rather than the mouse. This
is a bug that I have noticed for a long time (many Ubuntu versions) and
have decided to finally report.

In Nautilus, a simple action such as renaming a file can be done by
right clicking, choosing rename, typing the new file name, pressing
enter. Without the mouse, this can be done by navigating to the file
with the cursor keys, pressing the menu key, pressing R, pressing enter,
then continuing with the rename.

It is the point at which R is pressed that doesn't always select the
rename option. This is particularly annoying when renaming multiple
files, as the fluid repetitive routine is broken when this bug occurs.

[Bug 958699] Re: Empathy doesn't open chat windows

2012-08-09 Thread rnsmith2
This problem appeared for me as well, using Empathy on Unity on a 64 bit
12.04 system, around the same time I installed gnome-online-accounts
and gnome-contacts (I installed gnome-shell to try out), but was only
sporadic. It could only be fixed by logging out of Ubuntu and back in.
I recently uninstalled both those programs and haven't seen the problem
since.

[Bug 643337] Re: printer job fails with /usr/lib/cups/backend/ipselect failed

2012-08-09 Thread Kevin Ford
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 620751 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/620751

@norbert79 - Your post helped me at least workaround my problem but I am
not sure it is a PS level 2/3 issue (although I have no expertise about
PostScript)... The reason I doubt it is that although I was able to
print my files using Adobe reader 9 (Ubuntu 11.10), using the default
settings (which uses PS level 3), I tried again, after manually forcing
PostScript language level to 2 (in advanced settings while printing),
and it still printed fine..

So net is...

Evince would not print my PDF
Adobe would print my PDF, regardless of PS Language Level 2 or 3.

[Bug 971051] Re: no alt+tab in gnome classic session

2012-08-09 Thread Dale Spanheimer
I have a 12.04 installation that was upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 to
11.10 to 12.04 using the update manager and then enabling Gnome Classic.

I had the same problem of alt+tab not working even though my
System Settings- Keyboard Shortcuts:--- Navigation
setting said Alt+Tab would Switch Applications.

But I tried setting it to alt+super+tab and that worked fine.

I then just for experiment tried setting it back to alt+tab again and it
then worked!

Someone else want to try this and see if this is a consistent work-
around?

2012-08-09 Thread Norbert
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 620751 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/620751

Kevin:

Thanks for the reply, I will reply here so this bug report and all messages
stay in this bug ticket; it might be not related to similar errors at all.
Anyway: If you compare any output made by poppler (?) and Adobe Reader, you
will see, that Adobe Reader basically recreates the PS file, when sent to a
spooler, making it much larger, than in original. Actually I couldn't figure
out how and which method it uses, but it basically rebuilds it. Poppler on the
other hand translates it for the spooler, but doesn't seem to be able to use a
language, which can be interpreted by the printer within the IBM printing
network (now owned by Lexmark).

So it would be a good idea for testing the differences between the
output of poppler and Adobe Reader.

[Bug 958699] Re: Empathy doesn't open chat windows

2012-08-09 Thread rnsmith2
I really wish I could give you the steps to reproduce it, but I never
figured out a pattern. What I can tell you about the bug is this:

- it didn't appear until I installed gnome-contacts and
gnome-online-accounts
- normally empathy would work fine, but everyonce in a while when I opened the
contact list, it would show my online contacts, but nothing would happen if I
double clicked on them or right clicked and slected Chat.
- When the bug was occuring, I could still open Previous Conversations when
right clicking on the contact.
- When the bug was occuring, I could not open the Accounts dialog from the
Edit menu.
- If I quit Empathy while the bug was occurring, the right arrow in the
messaging indicator was still on Chat, showing that Empathy wasn't fully
closed. Attempting to reopen Empathy after quitting would have it stall and
tell me that it couldn't access any account information.

[Bug 1035067] [NEW] Shotwell doesn't use 24-hour clock

2012-08-09 Thread Benji
Public bug reported:

Here are my settings for locale:
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=
LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_NUMERIC=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_TIME=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE=de_DE.UTF-8

LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8
LC_PAPER=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_NAME=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_ADDRESS=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_ALL=

The time should be displayed in a 24-hour time format. Other programs
respect this issue. But shotwell only shows the am/pm time (12-hour
time) in the picture information.

According to Bug 689055
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/689055) this
bug should have been fixed in version 0.8. The current version in Ubuntu
is 0.12.3. For me, the bug remains.
