Re: [Bug 1035219] Re: In System Settings preference tool/keyboard layouts page automaticaly wrong language selectedGNOME
An interesting test result for officialy Ubuntu 12.04 hungarian language localized CD image: This CD image containing only hungarian language related language packages and language support related packages. If I enable universe and multiverse repositoryes, installed gnome-session-fallback package, logout and log in with GNOME Classict No effects session, I experienced following: If I launch system settings application, choose keyboard layout preference tool, navigate TAB key the language list table, the selected language is Chinese. I don't no keyboard layout preference tool how can detect chinese language, because chinese related language packs are of course not installed the hungarian 12.04 CD image. After I activated the all settings button, log out and login back the GNOME Classic No effects session, language related environments values is following: LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=zh_CN:hu:en This buggy language related setting change resulted a mixed chinese/hungarian language desktop. For example, in the live system desktop icon names changed with chinese names, but GNOME application menu elements are keeped the hungarian menu translations. This problem happening only when I using keyboard navigation the keyboard layout preference pane. Unfortunately visualy impaired screen reader users need using the keyboard navigation to navigate all dialogs. Before users not land the language list table in keyboard layouts preference pane unable to switch the layouts page tab with CTRL+ALT+PAGEUP or CTRL+ALT+PAGEDOWN key combinations. If I click direct with layouts page with Orca Screen Reader left click flat review command (this is equals with left mouse button click with layouts page tab), the problem doesn't happening. If not have better fix alternative, please disable the language and formats related page tabs in GNOME Fallback sessions, similar with Unity and Unity 2d shells. [Bug 1035843] [NEW] Trash doesn't work on NFS mounted partitions
Public bug reported: As reported elsewhere http://askubuntu.com/questions/172620/how-to- enable-trash-for-nfs-mounts: The /home/users directory on my host is an NFS mount connected to a server which is not in my control. When deleting files in $HOME (/home/users/foo) with Nautilus I get the following message: Cannot move file to trash, do you want to delete immediately? The file ... cannot be moved to the trash. Is there some way to enable trash for this mount point? I have write access to the partition, but even after creating the expected /home/users/.Trash-$(id -u) and setting the sticky bit, Nautilus still fails to use the trash. When reading this question http://askubuntu.com/questions/27176/how- does-the-trash-can-work-and-where-can-i-find-official-documentation- refer and the Trash Specification http://www.ramendik.ru/docs/trashspec.html I found that $HOME/.local/share/Trash is the standard location (unless $XDG_DATA_HOME is set), and it looks like Nautilus is only half-aware of this: It does indeed write a $HOME/.local/share/Trash/info/[filename].number.trashinfo every time I try to delete a file, but the files are all empty and I still keep getting the error message. For the problem in the minimal example, the culprit seems to be in TextSelectionPainter::visitWord, which assumes that all the chars in a word use the same font. I assumed that the only code that is updating the curFont is TextPage::updateFont. If this is true, from what I understood from the code, the fonts array holds unique FontInfos, so it would be safe to compare pointers instead of FontInfos. So, is this right? Thanks for the regression. The problem here is that bold: has two fonts since bold is italicised and : not, so before the patch, bold: is a TextWord and pdftotext get the text right, but drawing the selection is bad since the selected : would be drawn italicised. After the patch, bold: gets splitted up into bold and : so it gets drawn correctly when selected, but you have the regression you pointed out. So, I believe I am stuck with this choice: a). I could either allow more than one font on a TextWord, and adapt the code that draws the TextWord to use that fact, so the selected : does not get transform to a italicised : when drawing it. b) or I could fix the TextDumper to be aware of the fact in some cases there is no space between two TextWord. c) Do you have another way? I think I want to take approach a) even if it could more complicated, but approach b) seems that it could break more things that it would fix... thinking that when doing selection by words would not work at all. It's perfectly natural that every letter in a word be in a different font, colour, or style so that needs to be allowed for (the text could even a scan of some handwriting, or several scans), . ...what pdftotext is trying to do is to replicate what would be found in a Tagged PDF (Section 9.7 of the PDF Reference), effectively synthesising what would ideally be found in '/BMC.../EMC' '/ActualText' contents. I tend to agree with Paul that is fine for a word to have different fonts, but on the other hand one can argue if the : in that situation is part of the word or not. I'd say 1 is a better solution but if you can get 2 with a clean enough code i won't be oposed to it either. [Bug 1035623] Re: package desktop-file-utils 0.20-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 132
Thanks for your report. The error occurs because the ESET module used to scan files when they are accessed is not fully compatible with Ubuntu 12.04, as stated in the ESET FAQ at http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=contentid=SOLN2722ref=wsf - in this case, it causes some programs invoked during the update to crash. Unfortunately, the only things you could do is to wait for a new version of ESET to be released, uninstall ESET completely or downgrade to Ubuntu 10.04 (11.04 - the latest Ubuntu version which supports ESET - is scheduled not to be supported anymore from October 2012). In the meantime, I recommend uninstalling ESET - the malware rate for Linux is really low at the moment, and there is no need for an antivirus program. In case you still want a scanner (for example, to remove malware designed for Windows from removable media, or to scan e-mails), I recommend ClamAV, available from the Ubuntu repositories. [Bug 1035939] [NEW] wireless connection lost while testing it with gstreamer-properties
Public bug reported: When I try to test my camera using the gstreamer-properties application, as soon as I press the Test button, I lose my wifi connection and the wlan0 interface is not listed any more when i run the ifconfig -a command. So the only way to reconnect, is by restarting my laptop. I also tried to check my camera using cheese application, but the same problem appears: wifi is lost, no camera is activated. If i check my camera using the folowing command mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:width=640:height=480:device=/dev/video0, it works fine. I have this problem not only in the curent ubuntu version, but many versions back. My laptop is a Toshiba satellite L300D, and the camera is build in.
