[Bug 1036062] [NEW] user must find windows that block shutdown
Public bug reported: 1. configure your environment to use 10 desktops (the number is not really important, but I use 10) 2. on each desktop, open some application windows (Eclipse, web browsers, terminal, android's abd logcat, mc, etc) 3. spend some time working; when you see a text that looks important, open a gedit window and copy the important text there. 4. select shutdown in Gnome Actual: shutdown is blocked; you can cancel it but to review the unsaved documents you have to locate them yourself, looking through all your desktops and all your windows Expected: shutdown is blocked, but you can review all unsaved documents without cancelling the shutdown; there's a magic button that causes the next unsaved document to appear on the _current_ desktop _on_top_ of other windows so that you can read it and decide what to do with it. PS I hate such shutdowns, but some updates require it, and the software (including Eclipse) sometimes glitches, making me suspect a global resource leak. I had the same problem at my Dell Vostro 1500 with NVidia GeForce 8400M GS with both nvidia-current driver and latest driver from NVidia official site. The problem was solved for me using nvidia-current driver by disabling PXE-boot ability for LAN at BIOS. [Bug 780117] Re: Brasero finishes without error but unusable media [on-the-fly mode] (Ubuntu 11.04 -12.04)
Dear Andrea, thank you for testing the patch. Could you please provide more information. Especially the version of Brasero, maybe find out if libburn is really disabled and what is used now. Additionally the versions of the components Brasero depends on and the any log files from Brasero. It is sad, that upstream at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=655601 does give more information. Also it makes it more difficult that this bug is discussed in at least three different places. But the libburnia developers prefer to use mailing lists and additionally it looks like there are some problems how Brasero uses libburnia. So to fix this once and for all, it would be great if you could join the discussion at #617409 in the Debian BTS. You can easily import the messages by directly downloading the mbox file [2] or by installing the package devscripts $ sudo aptitude install devscripts and executing `bts show --mbox 617409` and import that message to your mail program. That reply to the appropriate message with your findings. For example if I remember correctly Thomas asked to use the command line tool `xorriso` to test if libburn4 is working correctly on with your burner [3]. If that is verified the bug in Brasero using libburn4 should be found and fixed. But the developers definitely need more information for that. I am sorry, that there does not seem to be an easier way to solve this issue. [Bug 1036238] [NEW] windows programs in iso crash when mounted by archive mounter (run with WINE)
Public bug reported: Hi, this is my first time writing a bug report. I am not sure if this is a problem in WINE or gvfs, but executables inside ISO's mounted via. the 'mount' command _work_ properly, so I assume this is a problem with gvfs or 'Archive Mounter'. So I have decided to install a game from an ISO, so I mounted it with 'right click - Open With Archive Mounter' (Nautilus as file manager). I used the shortcut in Nautilus to get to the mounted ISO. I then execute _any_ executable inside the mounted ISO and they all crash. $ wine Setup.exe: wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x006108b6 at address 0xf758d180 (thread 0009), starting debugger... [Bug 996770] Re: Lock screen is occasionally solid black except for mouse cursor after resuming from suspend
This bug appears to be related to the lock screen itself. I can suspend/resume or come out of monitor power-save mode just fine if I completely disable the lock screen. However, the bug happens to me if the lock screen is initialized for any reason (i.e. even if it's just a timeout without any suspend or power saving features). [Bug 1036171] [NEW] System Settings tool is not resizable, and does not expand automatically when setting font size for visually impaired users
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I'm getting older, and tiny fonts of high res screens (1900x1280) are becoming a pain to read. So I thought I'd make use of the tools in ubuntu that exist for those with impairments. So I opened the System Settings tool and from there, launched Universal Access. In Universal Access, I bumped the system font size up from Normal (whatever that is) to Larger (whatever that is which is slightly bigger than Normal). This made the system text larger and easier to read (text in the top bar and text within the system settings tool, at least, didn't affect text within Chrome, but it did change the size of text in Terminator as well :) HOWEVER, then I noticed that the System Settings tool itself had not expanded in size to accommodate the larger font size, nor was that window even resizable. The end effect is that it clips text off making the icons make less sense. Expected Behaviour: When system font size is made larger, the window will increase in size to account for this and ensure that the text for all app icons is readable. What really happened: Font size changed, window size did not, some text cut off and unreadable to users with visual impairment.
