[Bug 1036290] Re: Some positions from pop-up menu have color like disabled

2012-08-24 Thread Stefan Kardos
Worked for me too (nautilus 1:3.5.90-0ubuntu1), but only the instant I
tried to reproduce it. I copied a file with right-click-Copy and as I
right-clicked to paste it, the 'Paste' option was greyed out - though
clickable. File was pasted as usual.

Ever since, I can't get it to work any more, even after restarting my
machine.

** Summary changed:

- Some positions from pop-up menu have color like disabled

This is a real bug in g-s-m's .desktop file, it shoudl not have two

I'll fix apport to not crash on that, though.

[Bug 1038573] Re: Unreadable messages displayed during Lucid - Precise upgrade

2012-08-24 Thread Guy Stone
Calling attention to this important. Too bad you couldn't get this
warnng out without expecting the user to read the release notes. I
suspect many upgraders will think I've been playing with 12.04 - I know
what to expect. Some kind of a Don't Panic scren at the start of the
upgrade would've been nice. Particularly since the fix will have to wait
for 12.04.2 (I think).

[Bug 875878] Re: Easymp3gain Hangs when clicking Add File or Add Folder

2012-08-24 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Unfortunately I can't do much about this... This is something GTK+ and
LCL developers need to solve... (there's something wrong in the LCL
definitely...)

[Bug 850649] Re: gnome-terminal extremely slow and display buggy

2012-08-24 Thread Simon John
also got this slow resizing problem on debian sid and wheezy with nvidia
gfx and gnome-terminal under gnome-shell.

i don't have the problem on any of the four ubuntu 12.04 machines i
have, which all have intel gfx, although they run unity not gnome-shell.

i'd pretty much say that makes it an nvidia bug or gnome-shell bug, not
a gnome-terminal bug.

Ingo, I did decide to dupe that bug here.

And I think bug 1041169 will probably be the same. I didn't have any
custom key bindings, to test. So I didn't mark that as a dupe, yet.

[Bug 1038573] Re: Unreadable messages displayed during Lucid - Precise upgrade

2012-08-24 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Yes, that's the expected resolution, and what we try to do via
evolution --force-shutdown but perhaps unsuccessfully.

I re-ran the upgrade on metal and managed to get the error that is the
most likely cause of the unreadable text (in any application, since any
already-running application runs the risk of showing unreadable
dialogs):

(evolution-alarm-notify:1708): Pango-CRITICAL **: No modules found:
No builtin or dynamically loaded modules were found.
PangoFc will not work correctly.
This probably means there was an error in the creation of:
  '/etc/pango/pango.modules'
You should create this file by running:
  pango-querymodules '/etc/pango/pango.modules'

(evolution-alarm-notify:1708): Pango-WARNING **: failed to choose a
font, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='latin'

(evolution-alarm-notify:1708): Pango-WARNING **: failed to choose a
font, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='common'

Indeed, libpango1.0-common happily removes /etc/pango/pango.modules
after the upgrade:

libpango1.0-common.postinst:# until version 1.14.5-1, we generated a
/etc/pango/pango.modules
libpango1.0-common.postinst:echo I: Purging /etc/pango/pango.modules 2
libpango1.0-common.postinst:rm -f /etc/pango/pango.modules

[Bug 1018718] Re: columns width redrawn by multiple events

2012-08-24 Thread Alvaro Leal (Effenberg0x0)
I have posted a video on YouTube showing this bug before finding this bug
reports (thanks Dino99!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxB5TsqbojM
I'm experiencing this on Nautilus 3.5.90 in Quantal up-to-date (Aug. 24th,
2012).

I think I can provide some additional info.

1) I do not see the bug when I use a New instance of Nautilus to browse a new,
empty directory:
sudo killall -s KILL nautilus
cd $HOME
mkdir nautilus-test
cd nautilus-test
xdg-open .

2) I do not see the bug if I create files in this new directory
sudo killall -s KILL nautilus
cd $HOME/nautilus-test
//Create some example files
touch test1
ls /usr/bin | tee -a ls-output.txt
cp /usr/bin/ld ld.bin
xdg-open .

3) Resizing the columns does not work: They return to the previous width. As
far as I can see, they behave like this:
- Size, Type, Modified, Group, Location, Mime Type, Owner,
Permissions are set to have as small width as possible.
- Name takes the entire remaining width.
- This widths are refreshed every time you click Nautilus window.

4) As a consequence, one can maximize/minimize the symptoms of this bug
by changing the order of (and/or adding/removing) columns (at Gear
Icon, Preferences, List-Columns). If Name is the last to the right,
for example, the effect is minimized.

[Bug 1041349] [NEW] menu from skype applet flashes twice when opening

2012-08-24 Thread Steve White
Public bug reported:

Skype 4.0.0.8 running the Gnome desktop (Unity disabled), Ubuntu 12.04.

Single-click on the running Skype icon in the Gnome desktop panel,
(which resides in Indicator Applet 0.5.0.)

The menu appears, but flashes twice in doing so, unlike the menus of the
other applets running there.

This isn't just ugly--I've found myself repeatedly clicking the icon,
thinking somehow I should do something different to open the menu.

(In fact there are further problems rendering the menu under some
circumstances.)

This bug was reported to Skype,
 https://jira.skype.com/browse/SCL-896
They assert that it is a Ubuntu issue (not even a Gnome issue).

[Bug 1040954] Re: Ctrl-Alt-T terminal shortcut lost in 3.4.2-0ubuntu9

2012-08-24 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Ingo or others, you can set a Custom Keyboard Shortcut in System
SettingsKeyboard to get Ctrl+Alt+T to open gnome-terminal.

I spent some time yesterday trying to make a gsettings override for
custom keyboard shortcuts to restore this default but I haven't been
successful yet. I'll continue trying to get it working this weekend.

Thanks Jeremy. (No pressure on my part; I just figured I should report

Since it sounds like the problem is gsettings and any custom shortcuts,
then bug 1041169, jibel's report of losing his custom bindings, is the
same. I'll mark it as a dupe. Thanks.

[Bug 882307] Re: [list-view] After copying text from a rename entry, file copy menus items are broken

2012-08-24 Thread Luis Alvarado
Confirmed on 12.04 even after all updates. In my case is just easy to
test it. There are 2 ways, one happens always, the other one happens in
some cases:

Rare Nautilus Case (This happens rarely):

1. Go to nautilus and copy any file/folde you want.
2. Right click on an empty space and see that the Paste option in the context
menu is grayed.

Note that it is selectible and you can paste, but to see it grayed I
would thinks that I did not copy anything.

Desktop Case (Always happens. I mean ALWAYS!):

1. On your desktop copy anything there, be it a folder or a file.
2. Right click on an empty space and see that the Paste option in the context
menu is grayed.

This might have something to do with the fact that Gnome3 removed files/folders
from the Desktop. So in Unity maybe some option is not affecting the way a
clipboard created from a Desktop object is detected and does not active the
Paste option.

[Bug 965921] Re: gnome-shell most keyboard shortcuts not working

2012-08-24 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Yes, it's fixed in 12.10.

No, this won't ever be fully fixed in 12.04 because it requires Compiz
Unity to be ported from gconf to gsettings. That kind of huge change
won't be allowed in stable releases. Notably, no one has ported Unity 2D
to gsettings so that code isn't even in the 12.10 archives but Unity 2D
is still supported in 12.04.

[Bug 1041390] [NEW] Make some error messages more user-friendly

2012-08-24 Thread Bouhlel Moez
Public bug reported:

some error messages looks unclear and not user-friendly and needs a new design
and some times needs othes buttons (to easily solve the error).
for ex, renaming label error message when the fs (vfat) is mounted is not
enough simple, also, i think it will be better if it also has unmount
continue button that will helps user to solve the error with easier way
as i'm not developer, i just made a simple mock-up about how it could be: (
http://ubuntuone.com/3OfUP6pFCGVxivahfYZNPD )
also, i think if a simple message (information message) that tells user to
unmount the device will be better than error message

I can confirm that after removing the file as mentioned in post #6, the

[Bug 1038573] Re: Unreadable messages displayed during Lucid - Precise upgrade

2012-08-24 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
So I misread this; libpango1.0-common.postinst was already removing
/etc/pango/pango.modules in Lucid; so it's a little more complicated an
issue than that.
