[Bug 1043651] [NEW] Package system broken
Public bug reported: The package system on my install is not working at all. I'm unable to download applications from the software center, via tarballs, or via terminal package install. Haven't tried synaptic, as I'm unable to download it to use it... Obviously, I've tried sudo apt-get -f install and the dpkg configure command, neither to any avail. This has been going on for nearly a month, and it is due to two broken packages 'empathy-common' and 'gnome-sudoku' both of which originally failed to update after a fresh install of ubuntu 12.04. Since then, I've been completely unable to use the package system. I have no 3rd party repo's enabled or anything of the sort. [Bug 1043759] [NEW] Display settings confirmation dialog appears out of the screen when disabling one monitor in a multi monitor setup
Public bug reported: I have a two monitors setup with the laptop screen and external monitor connected via VGA. This setup is illustrated in the attached screenshot from the display settings applet in the control center. * Taking that setup as a starting point, * Place the display settings window on laptop monitor (bottom display) * Click on the off button for the laptop monitor to disable it * Click the apply button to confirm settings Expected result: * Laptop monitor turns off * Display settings window moves to the current workspace on the active monitor * Popup dialog asking if I want to keep this configuration or revert it appears on same workspace as above Current result: * Laptop monitor turns off * Display settings window and popup dialog move to the workspace down from the currently active one In other words what is happening is that the windows that were in a disabled monitor gets moved to a workspace that has the same relation to the current one as the spatial relationship between monitors. For example if the laptop monitor was setup as being on the right of the external monitor, the window would be on the workspace to the right of the active one. This is clever, but extremely hard to guess for the user, especially if they don't normally use workspaces in their daily ubuntu usage. What's worse is that there's a timeout on the confirmation dialog that will keep ticking and will automatically revert the previous configuration when it expires, confusing the user even more. I don't mind keeping the clever behaviour but the display settings window should be an exception to that rule and should always appear on the active workspace on the active monitor. Or the workspace should switch automatically to the one where the window ends up being placed in. [Bug 1043772] [NEW] disk auto-mounter leaves unused directories in /media/user
Public bug reported: If I have an external disk with the name disk, in Quantal it now normally gets mounted at /media/rocko/disk. However, if the disk is not cleanly unmounted (eg if X crashes), the /media/rocko/disk folder persists and the new time it is auto-mounted at /media/rocko/disk1, and then /media/rocko/disk2, etc. This used to be a problem when disks were mounted at eg /media/disk, then /media/disk_, then /media/disk__, but this bug was fixed a while ago.
