[Bug 1054874] [NEW] Kubuntu battery monitor displays wrong icon
Public bug reported: After a few suspend / resume cycles the battery icon indicator for battery monitor displays the wrong icon. In my case, it indicates that the laptop is plugged in. However on mouse over of the icon it correctly indicates that AC power is not present and the battery is not plugged in or charging. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1054874 Title: Kubuntu battery monitor displays wrong icon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/1054874/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1054880] Re: evince crashed with SIGABRT in raise()
** Visibility changed to: Public ** Description changed: I have a 40M PDF that crashed evince, and okular when I tested it too. I'm running xorg-edgers at the moment, so cairo is a development version, but that shouldn't affect okular, so I'm trying out the theory that it's not related to edgers. + + I'll upload the big pdf if needed. Perhaps it's poppler. And perhaps it's a dupe. I'll let the retracer work on it. Thanks. [Bug 1055021] [NEW] No way to change how right click and middle click works on a touchpad.
Public bug reported: I have a Dell Studio 1558 whose trackpad has physical buttons for left and right click. So I don't need the right click functionality from my touchpad. I also do not need middle click functionality. But gnome-control-center automatically sets two-finger touch to right click. Now its very easy to double tap accidentally and it seems to happen every now and then which is very annoying. Even more annoying is the middle click functionality which is activated whenever I tap in the top right corner of the touchpad. Problem is that I use Google Chrome, and middle clicking on a tab in Chrome closes it. Many times when I press on a tab it closes, because I accidentally tap on the top right corner, which is very annoying. I don't have a big touchpad so this happens quite frequently. There is no way to edit this behaviour from the toucpad settings. I tried to turn it off by manually editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf. But with no profit since it seems gnome-control-center resets the binding every time the computer starts. I earlier filed a bug in Gnome Bugzilla and they said that the problem is only caused by the Ubuntu's patched version. So please either remove the functionality given that I have hardware buttons for them or provide a way to configure it from the touchpad settings. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1055021 Title: No way to change how right click and middle click works on a touchpad. [Bug 1055105] [NEW] Status is set to offline
Public bug reported: Hello, I've got Ubuntu 12.10 with Empathy 3.5.92. Every time I start Empathy my jabber accounts report needs authorization (vk.com) or status is set to offline (gmail.com). And this is random: sometimes one of them can connect from the first try. But the google account usually reports the error. After some time they automatically reconnect and work well. But that may take several minutes to get them working. Pressing the reconnect button doesn't help. I've set up the accounts via the standard Ubuntu Online Accounts manager. There is no debug menu item so I don't know how do I provide any logs or see what's the problem. BTW, my Sametime account requires some magic all the time: looks like it doesn't store the password. Currently, I have it enabled, but don't see any groups or contacts in Empathy. It complained at first about authorization but then just silently dropped trying the account. And there is no button to force reconnect. ** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1055105 Title: Status is set to offline To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1055105/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 41994] Re: closed Laptop Lid to reliably keep Backlight off
Ah, sorry, done a little more testing. It stays off indefinitely (without input) if the lid is open. But, if I run it after closing the lid, it still wakes randomly. This means that it must be receiving some imaginary input when the lid is closed to wake it. My biggest problem is that some imaginary input wakes the laptop. Ignoring all input while the lid is closed would solve the problem. However, without a mouse connected I can't provide any input with the lid closed anyway, so this doesn't bother me as much as not waking on imaginary inputs. I remember trying to debug this before, and the input is non-existent. The screen wakes because the X server is no longer idle, but using xev reports no input being received. It is interesting that this only happens when the lid is closed. Perhaps this bug should be split into two parts. Firstly, a bug, that imaginary input is received randomly when the lid is closed. Secondly, a wishlist, that the screen should not wake on input while the lid is closed. Fixing either of these would satisfy me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41994 Title: closed Laptop Lid to reliably keep Backlight off To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dell/+bug/41994/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1035221] Re: xdg-open/gnome-open opens blank firefox
After a lot of digging into the various involved components including some stracing I found out why it didn't work and how to fix this: It seems the default applications are found via .desktop files in /home/user/.local/share/applications. I had some older entries in there, probably from Ubuntu editions from a few years back (I am not a fan of re-installing and usually update from one to the next version). There were several firefox entries in there, when I removed all of them, I could not select firefox any more as default application in the system settings, however when I copied over the firefox.desktop entry from /usr/share/applications/ and re-selected firefox as the default application, I can now open http-links from all the applications again. Not sure who or what is to blame here, somehow my deleted-files folder does not show the removed .desktop files any more, so I cannot post them to allow for closer analysis, maybe the original reporter with the same problem can post the files. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to libgnome in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1035221 Title: xdg-open/gnome-open opens blank firefox To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgnome/+bug/1035221/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1055171] [NEW] Nautilus hangs when TIFF file properties are requested
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.04.01 LTS - all updates current Nautilus 3.4.2 All Nautilus windows hang when the properties of a TIFF file are requested. One must force quit to close all windows and relaunch Natulis again. This happens for files in all folders in the Home directory EXCEPT the Desktop folder. On the desktop, the TIFF file properties are displayed properly. What I did: Open Nautilus and navigate to the Pictures folder. Right mouse click on a TIFF file and select Properties. I expected the Properties dialog box to be displayed and to move through the tabs to view properties information. Instead, the properties dialog opens and all Nautilus dialog boxes freeze until a force quit is issued. The same problem has been reported under Fedora: Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 839371 - Properties dialog hangs with TIFF images. Red Hat suggests the problem may be with GdkPixbufLoader ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: nautilus 1:3.4.2-0ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-31.50-generic 3.2.28 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-31-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu13 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Sep 23 15:54:56 2012 GsettingsChanges: org.gnome.nautilus.window-state geometry '800x550+65+24' InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Precise Pangolin - Release amd64 (20120823.1) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1055171 Title: Nautilus hangs when TIFF file properties are requested To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1055171/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
