Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.04 Intel i7-2630QM When I use Sound Recorder as a non-root user to record in MP4, the saved file cannot be played back. Not even by the root user. The error message is: This file contains no playable streams. Can this fix somehow make its way into the Q-series backports ppa for Precise? This bug will crop up on you if you install xserver-xorg-lts-quantal. Using dict now in Precise, if I run $(dict -v bat), I get $ dict -v bat Configuration file: server localhost server dict.org server dict0.us.dict.org server alt0.dict.org No definitions found for bat But if I run this, it works: $ dict -h dict.org bat 12 definitions found ... When dict fails to get a response from localhost, it stops, but according to the man page it is supposed to continue through the list of servers until it finds one that works. Hi David Thank you for responding quickly. No I don't recall unplugging it after 90 seconds. And, I know the HDMI cable is good because I swapped it when I first found the fault, and looking at dmesg I could see something about HDMI pin3. I use this machine with Mythbuntu and the machine comes on at a set time from the bios rtc. The TV is switched on later. I have noticed that if I power the PC after switching on the TV then I do have sound (this is my perception and I need to record if this is 100% true on all occasions). I am not sure what you mean about seeing it in sound settings. In Mythbutu this is Frontend/Setup/Audio and can only be seen after it has booted. I think that, in the past, when I have looked at it, it had a comment Not Connected, but looking today this is not there. In the past I have tried changing drivers back to others and back to the HDMI one without getting sound. Unplugging and replugging seems the only thing I can do if I don't want to reboot the system Below is a test results from the kernel log that I have just done. I booted up with the TV off and got no sound. I then unplugged and plugged back in the HDMI cable and got sound. I can see that the lack of sound may be due to the fglrx (Radeon) drivers? And that the unplug/Replug in event caused something to happen which got me sound. [Bug 1057451] [NEW] Render error converting SVG to PNG using filter
Public bug reported: I was trying to create an image sprite by embedding a base64 encoded PNG image into an SVG file. I then applied a greyscale filter over that image. When I view the SVG in a browser the contents render correctly. When I use rsvg-convert to create a PNG image the filter is not applied, or in another test case, the filter gets renderd as a block box. In the sample file below I have created two cases. Case 1: A greyscale filter is applied to an image element. Case 2: A filter containing both an feImage and feColorMatrix is applied to a rectangle. Using rsvg-convert, in Case 1 the filter is not applied to the output. In Case 2 the output is rendered as a black box. rsvg-convert version 2.36.1 from : http://code.google.com/p/osspack32/ Windows 7 64-bit Also as a test, when I try to load my test file in Inkscape it causes it to crash. However, when I remove my filter for Case 2, Inkscape will now load the file and render it correctly. I am not sure what you mean about seeing it in sound settings. In Mythbutu this is Frontend/Setup/Audio I mean, in the Gnome control center. Unless Mythbuntu is running Gnome, you're likely suffering from something different compared to the original bug reporter. Anyway; when you plug your cable in, or possibly when you activate the HDMI screen, you should get Diwic: read_pin_sense for pin 0x3, result = 0x and when you unplug it, you should get Diwic: read_pin_sense for pin 0x3, result = 0x7fff. Note the difference (0x7 unplugged, 0xf plugged). I discovered my issue. I was using single quotes in the URL when I reference the filter. While this does validate it is not correct and appears to be the source of the problem. Using a non-quoted url in the attrbiute causes it to behave correctly. Public bug reported: 1) I want to split an ISO image into 2 or 3 parts of 4GB. 2) I can split a file with File-Roller and 7z and I can decide the size of each parts 3) I start the compression and splitting and I see that the size of each parts isn't the same size that I have decide before. This is still present in 12.10 and still has to be fixed quickly in my opinion. Modifying /usr/share/gvfs/mounts/network.mount has three clear downsides; it has to be done on every machine after every clean install (so basically twice a year on all your computers); it puts an ugly broken-file icon with the text network:// in the side pane (which simply looks amateuristic), and local changes are overwritten on every update of gvfs-backends. Nautilus, on the other hand, works fine without modifying any file. Why can't Thunar act the way Nautilus does? bumping I was going to make a proper merge request out of my patch above but i had some trouble compiling gnome-games properly even without any launchpad-integration stuff. I think my patch looks alright though - i know the code i'm suggesting to add to gnome-sudoku solves the problem and the change to the LPI patch which precise uses adds my changed code in place of what was causing the crashing. I can confirm that it is not, an error of level graphics hardware or both AMD / ATI both nvidia.So either driver is not to blame.
