[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)
Updated from 10.04 tonight. After a few hours of use, noticed numlock turning off and on as if my keyboard was shorting. Confirmed gnome- settings-daemon consuming 150% cpu. I had been using Chrome, Calculator, and Image Viewer. Killing gnome-settings-daemon returned normal use of numlock, but it respawned and still consumes 150% cpu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969359 Title: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/969359/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: Fwd: [Bug 1057767] [NEW] Translations are not in sync with Gnome, leading to duplication of effort
Al 28/09/12 19:53, En/na Pierre Slamich ha escrit: Sorry to keep raising questions like this on the list, but I didn't manage to assign the bug to Ubuntu-translators. To sum up what's below, Evolution translations are not in sync with Gnome, leading to duplication of effort. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1057767 Is it working as intended or is there something going wrong ? Hi Pierre, Sorry for the delay in replying, I just found some time to look into this issue. Evolution is set to use bzr imports from the upstream GNOME branch. This way, the PO files are imported directly from bzr and shared with Ubuntu, which makes (in theory) new translations be imported daily. However, there seems to be something wrong with the upstream bzr import, as it's creating 3 versioned translatable templates, which means translations from the branch are not imported. For now, I've disabled upstream sharing for the evolution template, and translations should be imported using the traditional package upload mechanism. [Bug 1057767] Re: Translations are not in sync with Gnome, leading to duplication of effort
Looking at it in more detail, it seems that there is not much we can do with Evolution, other than disabling upstream message sharing and going back to the traditional way of importing translations with package uploads. This is due to the upstream template name being versioned [1]. However, there might be a bug in the Orca import [2], which shows an invalid template name. [Bug 972554] Re: [soundnua]: new capplet does not expose the sound card profile selection
@David, not having the Off profile is not a problem, especially if you are saying that is temporary. The problem is I cannot select profiles with more than 2 channels yet I require 4.0 for my card to work properly on my setup. Right now, on my fully up to date 12.04 setup, the Gnome applet is only showing me 2 output profiles, one digital stereo and one analog stereo but the cards has ~8 profiles accessible in pavucontrol. [Bug 1062007] Re: evolution-calendar-factory crashed with SIGSEGV in g_hash_table_lookup_node()
I have had this report on two Ubuntu 12.10 Beta2 installations, ( both under Wubi installs ) but in neither case could I get the access to add comments when reporting. It occured when running Software Updater, it appeared to update correctly but failed to reboot when it indicated, stalling both machines with the Ubuntu logo and no access from the keyboard as if the machines froze before the reboot signal was sent to the hardware. This happened on a Dell laptop running a Wubi installed version in Windows Vista and on a Dell Desktop running a Wubi installed version in Windows XP. I can only go by the date info as this was confirmed in an email and was the only fail reported by me this week as I couldn't access the report when it was sent. I also note in those installations the Launchpad access keeps offering to install some easy access software but does nothing when I click on the button. [Bug 972554] Re: [soundnua]: new capplet does not expose the sound card profile selection
@Simon, I have taken a deeper look at the pactl list you submitted in comment #28 and just realized the problem is more complex than expected. I thought the problem was related to not being able to select the right combination of input and output, that the output was changed when you changed input and vice versa. In your case, you don't have any output ports at all for the profile you want to select. Fixing that would require some more work, and I'll try to fix that if/when I get around to digging deep into that code again. Re: [Bug 388547] Re: Volume keys don't work inside a full-screen game
I believe we should have some global shortcut, like Ctrl + Alt + Del on Windows, that calls a task manager to allow the user to kill the problematic process. 2012/10/8 Matt Pharoah 388...@bugs.launchpad.net This is extremely annoying when a fullscreen application crashes. Your average user who doesn't know about the Ctrl+Alt+PrntScrn+K and Ctrl+Alt+F1 tricks will assume that the operating system crashed which is about the most significant usability issue you could possibly have. [Bug 1064453] [NEW] Corrupt keyboard layout chart
Public bug reported: On a system configured with Arabic system locale (right to left layout) and with both English (UK) and Arabic keyboards available the keyboard layout shown by the 'Show Layout Chart' menu item appears corrupt due to some of the four characters on each key being overlaid on each other. What seems to be happening is that under the Arabic locale, the two characters which would normally be displayed at the left and right of each key are instead both placed on the right of the key. An English (US) keyboard layout does not exhibit this behaviour.
