[Bug 987220] Re: System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI

2012-10-10 Thread Jay
In Comment #154 I reported that the suggestion I found at
http://askubuntu.com/questions/125844/shutdown-does-not-power-off-
computer worked for me. Sadly, I now have to report to I concluded that
too soon; it does not work.

I have marked as 'fix released' as the problem is gone in 12.10. Not
sure if this is the correct thing to do as I don't know how it was
fixed.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 996646] Re: Evolution mbox export broken

2012-10-10 Thread AntoineM
Hi everyone,
I used the patch provided by the evolution team
(http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/commit/id=df3495a6ec99d53beeaac6b9a2fde8dfd356c439)
to fix the problem and backported it to the evolution version of ubuntu 12.04
evolution_3.2.3-0ubuntu6. It turns out that only the package
libevolution_3.2.3-0ubuntu6 needs to be updated.

Here is how i proceded.

1. Uninstall libevolution and all related packages
   sudo apt-get remove libevolution

1.1 For me other packages were removed : evolution evolution-plugins
libevolution

2. Get the evolution package source
   mkdir patch_evolution; cd patch_evolution
   sudo apt-get source evolution

3. Apply patch (be sure to download it first)
patch -p0 patch_libevolution

4. Build evolution's debian packages (some other packages may need to be
installed first)
sudo apt-get -b source evolution

4.1 Here is what I obtained
ls -1sh
total 40M
4,0K evolution-3.2.3
4,0K evolution_3.2.3-0ubuntu6_amd64.changes
704K evolution_3.2.3-0ubuntu6_amd64.deb
 96K evolution_3.2.3-0ubuntu6.debian.tar.gz
4,0K evolution_3.2.3-0ubuntu6.dsc
 12M evolution_3.2.3.orig.tar.xz
 15M evolution-common_3.2.3-0ubuntu6_all.deb
7,9M evolution-dbg_3.2.3-0ubuntu6_amd64.deb
864K evolution-dev_3.2.3-0ubuntu6_amd64.deb
748K evolution-plugins_3.2.3-0ubuntu6_amd64.deb
556K evolution-plugins-experimental_3.2.3-0ubuntu6_amd64.deb
2,8M libevolution_3.2.3-0ubuntu6_amd64.deb
4,0K patch_libevolution

5. install the new libevolution package (be sure to use the file you builded)
sudo dpkg -i libevolution_3.2.3-0ubuntu6_amd64.deb

6. re-install previously removed packages
sudo apt-get install evolution evolution-plugins

I tested this on some of my emails ...
708M test_1.mbox
 21M test_3_libev.mbox
... with success

Hope this helps,
Antoine

PS : This should definitely be included in an updated version of the
package in the repository.

[Bug 1064926] [NEW] German version - naming ambiguities

2012-10-10 Thread Jakob Hohlfeld
Public bug reported:

1) Ubuntu 12.04
2) evolution 3.2.3-0ubuntu6

3) I want to create a message rule for a specific sender/recipient
address. This can be done with 'Left-click-on-message-Regel anlegen'.
OK so far. Now I want to apply the rule I just created. I would expect
an action 'Apply rules' or german 'Regeln anwenden' to be found near the
'Regel anlegen' option. This action should be reachable somewhere next
to it's sibling. Create - apply. Very closely related, I would expect
these interactions to be presented in one place.

4) The option to apply message rules is somewhere else: nope, no left-
click-on-messages-apply rules. The required action is located at
'Menu-Nachricht-Filter anwenden'. First, the wording for the same
context elements should be distictive and named accordingly. Secondly,
the actions for the same context are spread across the menu/context
menu, which is bad practice.

** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Description changed:

[Bug 1048024] Re: nothing from Empathy shows up in irc search in Software Center

2012-10-10 Thread blaamann
Searching for IRC does not list a bunch of relevant IRC application. E.g
Irssi and Weechat is not listed in the search result.

Even worse, IRC support is not installed by default in Empathy in 12.10
(this should probably be a seperate bug report)

Is IRC support available in Empathy in 12.10?
e@B570e:~$ apt-cache search account-plugin-irc
account-plugin-irc - Messaging account plugin for IRC

Is it installed?
e@B570e:~$ dpkg -l | grep account-plugin-irc
e@B570e:~$

This is bad.

[Bug 1060060] Re: Unable to modify empathy accounts in gnome-online-accounts

2012-10-10 Thread Ken VanDine
Empathy uses UOA for accounts configuration, not GOA. Empathy is
capable of seeing accounts from GOA, but it will launch the UOA dialog.
Not something we can easily solve.

This is a rather complicated situation, you can read a good explanation
at http://jeremy.bicha.net/2012/10/06/ubuntu-online-accounts-and-gnome/

[Bug 157497] Re: New windows stack up in top left corner

2012-10-10 Thread Paul Whittaker
I'm running metacity 1:2.34.1-1ubuntu11 (as part of Unity 2D) on Ubuntu
Precise amd64, and (despite post #12) I still see this issue.

I have a keybinding to launch an xterm, and if I press it four times
then I get four xterms opened in the top left of the screen, almost
entirely overlapping each other. I have to manually drag the windows to
be able to see their content. This is on an empty 1920x1200 desktop, so
there is plenty of free space.

Each window is very slightly offset from the previous one (1px to the
right, and 28px down) so that only their title bars are non-overlapping.

Could somebody advise as to whether I need to raise this as a new bug,
given that this ticket thinks it's been fixed?

[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)

2012-10-10 Thread Ridgeland
I'm fighting this bug too.
Tried the fix in #85 but bug came back again.
So I'm back here again.
Tried the fix of uncheck remember-numlock-state
cpu load dropped from 5.0 to under 1.0 and system seems fine now.
Could be a hardware issue. The user has a replacement keyboard. Don't know
what she did with her original Dell keyboard.

[Bug 1057767] Re: Translations are not in sync with Gnome, leading to duplication of effort

2012-10-10 Thread Hendrik Knackstedt
I'm pretty sure there are more packages affected then just Evolution and
Orca. For example I see this issue with »gtk-3.0-properties« [1]. This
is fully translated to German upstream in version 3.0 as well as in
later versions.
