[Bug 1035219] Re: In System Settings preference tool/keyboard layouts page automaticaly wrong language selectedGNOME

2012-10-25 Thread Mantas Kriaučiūnas
Gunnar,

Could you rebuild your patched gnome-control-center_3.4.2-0ubuntu0.6~ppa and
remove big upstream changelog file from the sources?
Workaround to enable pkgstripfiles command in my PPA doesn't work (see bug
#602579) and I need to release new Ubuntu-based distribution (Baltix) version
but now new release can't fit into CD because of 1.5 MB changelog.gz files :(

your patched Gnome-Control-Center deb packages are very big size because
each package contain unnecessary changelog.gz files (1.5 Mb size) in
 /usr/share/doc/ , see :

 https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/+archive/misc/+sourcepub/2701509/+listing-archive-extra

Look at the size of official Ubuntu package and yours:
 ubuntu@ubuntu:/var/cache/apt/archives$ ls -lh
 gnome-control-center_1%3a3.4.2-0ubuntu0.*
  647K Rgs 12 23:04 gnome-control-center_1%3a3.4.2-0ubuntu0.5_i386.deb

[Bug 988138] Re: Iagno hangs every game or two in Ubuntu 12.04, is very slow to take AI turns, crashes, loops sounds and gives wrong score in the end. Worked fine in 11.10

2012-10-25 Thread Derek
FWIW, it isn't locking up on Hard, it just takes a really really long time
while the GUI goes unresponsive. If I go do something else, and check back in
5-10 minutes, it has unfrozen. I can then take another move. As the board
positions constrain, the freezes become shorter.
The AI is still stupid.
I really suspect all this breakage was due to the rewrite linked in comment #20

Major rewrites do tend to be common sources of bugs.

[Bug 875002] Re: choosing quit from unity launcher doesn't close rhythmbox if music is playing

2012-10-25 Thread Chris Wilson
I don't think it's necessary to keep the music playing when the window
is closed. The only reason I can think of for this to have been decide
originally is to reduce the amount of space that 'background' apps took
up on the taskbar in pre-Unity Ubuntu. Now that Unity is here, we have a
much more efficient way of managing active applications via the
Launcher, and minimising it to there is unlikely to impact the user-
experience since I believe the user is likely to already have locked the
icon to the Launcher.

I believe that the section on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoundMenu#compliance should be amended to remove
the following passage

A compliant player should also keep playing if you close its window
while it is playing

and that Rhythmbox should be patched to stop playing regardless of
whether it was close or quit that the user selected.

Re: [Bug 1038738] Re: Rhythmbox does not show the Library Location

2012-10-25 Thread Chris Wilson
Option 2 it is then. Thanks for investigating that.

This would be best if it was enclosed within it's own dialog so that if the
user was monitoring a significant number of locations, the existing
settings dialog won't become insane.

I've asked the Rhythmbox devs to give some feedback on the Paper Cuts we're
looking at, so we'll see what they think.

[Bug 1069810] Re: Startup Application Preferences should have an icon in Control Center

2012-10-25 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Maybe this should be Won't Fix for Ubuntu if upstream thinks it's a bad
idea, on the grounds that it's not important enough for us to override
upstream. But for the reasons Florian gave, it's not accurate to say
that it's not a setting.

(FWIW, I've previously proposed including it in the User Accounts panel.

[Bug 1071345] [NEW] empathy contacts list compact mode is missing in 3.6

2012-10-25 Thread Robert Lange
Public bug reported:

Prior to upgrading to quantal, Empathy had a compact mode for the
contacts list. This would show each contact on a single line that was
just tall enough to display the contact's username. This way, I would
be able to use my high resolution monitor to view all of my online
contacts simultaneously.

Under Empathy 3.6 on quantal, the option for a compact mode disappeared
and each contact in the list takes about 3 times the vertical space
needed to display the contact's username. Now even with my high
resolution montor, I can only view about 1/3 of my online contacts at a
time.

Please bring back the compact mode.

[Bug 1035219] Re: In System Settings preference tool/keyboard layouts page automaticaly wrong language selectedGNOME

2012-10-25 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Hello Mantas!

Sure, I could try to build it locally. I don't know if that would make a
difference with respect to the unnecessary files, though. Or you could
fetch my branch at https://code.launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/gnome-control-
center/bug-1035219 and build it yourself.

However, I see another problem with this. If you would distribute a
package named e.g. gnome-control-center_3.4.2-0ubuntu0.6~ppa, and since
my proposed fix hasn't been accepted, that package would be replaced at
next update of the gnome-control-center package, and the fix would get
lost.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I've got a bluetooth logitech keyboard[1] with belgian layout. That PC is
running ubuntu quantal with GDM and gnome-shell (installed
ubuntu-gnome-desktop). I've set the layout to belgian in gnome-control-center
and it worked fine. But each time I reboot the layout is qwerty again, I go

[Bug 1010619] Re: [2.97-0ubuntu2] Rhythmbox freezes

2012-10-25 Thread nachokb
it also happens with these two versions on Ubuntu Quantal (dist upgraded
from Precise):

* 2.98-0.1~webupd8~quantal2 from ppa:webupd8team/rhythmbox
* Precise's 2.96-0ubuntu4.1 installed manually (gotten these debs from
packages.ubuntu.com: rhythmbox_2.96-0ubuntu4.1_amd64
librhythmbox-core5_2.96-0ubuntu4.1_amd64 rhythmbox-data_2.96-0ubuntu4.1_all
gir1.2-rb-3.0_2.96-0ubuntu4.1_amd64)

2.96 worked wonderfully on Precise before upgrading... perhaps the XML
got corrupted somehow during the upgrade? (though it doesn't look like
it was modified)

I've got a ~100gb collection.

Also, if I start it with

  rhythmbox --rhythmdb-file=~/test.db

it works, until it scanned enough of my ~/Music to start hanging
again...

My conclusion:

* it's definitely related to having a large collection
* it didn't happen on Precise
* it happens on Quantal with Precise's Rhythmbox

so I guess the problem lies in some other dependency (say, libxml or
something)...

any ideas?

[Bug 1071383] [NEW] Empathy don't connect when I'm a LDAP user

2012-10-25 Thread Icaro Clever
Public bug reported:

- Problem:

When I'm using the system autenticated by a LDAP user, if I configure
the Online Accounts, the Empathy don't reconize that I've already
configured the messenger accounts. If I do the same procedure
authenticated by a common system account, the empathy immediatly
reconize when I save the messenger account in the Online Accounts.

- How can you reproduce?

* Configure the ubuntu to use the autentication with OpenLDAP.
* Connect with a LDAP user.
* Open Empathy;
* Configure a Online Account
* Verify Empathy don't reconize the new account.

[Bug 1035219] Re: In System Settings preference tool/keyboard layouts page automaticaly wrong language selectedGNOME

2012-10-25 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Mantas,
Is it Precise we are discussing?

Wouldn't 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.6~precise be replaced by an SRU with the version
number 1:3.4.2-0ubuntu0.6? Or would the missing prefix 1: prevent that
from happening?

OTOH, if you use a higher version number to prevent that SRUs replace
the shipped package, it means that you shut yourself off from possibly
important updates (unless you fix them manually).

[Bug 1010619] Re: [2.97-0ubuntu2] Rhythmbox freezes

2012-10-25 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Yes, I confirm that the problem is due to a large collection.

But I don't know if it's due to libxml2 because I had this problem with
the version 2.97-0ubuntu2 of RB and not with the previous one
(2.97-0ubuntu1). They were compiled with the same version of libxml2 and
I tested both versions of RB with the same version of libxml2.

[Bug 1069531] Re: Cannot login to Empathy after setting up Google online account

2012-10-25 Thread Rob Whalley
Could be missing something but believe the solution was:
So the solution seems to be to remove an old Google Account that was
configured with a(n application-specific) password and add a new one with
OAuth2 using your regular password (+ phone code) and allowing Ubuntu to access
your account.

If so, doesn't that imply that a user would be forced to set-up 2-step
verification if they were not using it already? What about users that
don't have a phone to use with 2-step verification? From the
instructions on Google, understand that you can generate an application
specific password for Ubuntu and not require a phone, but what about
other applications that involve a Google account; would you not require
a phone for those?

Is this a correct assessment - if not, please could you expand upon the
solution?

For info:
* Removed all accounts, checked seahorse and ensured any stored information was
removed.
* Re-created the Google account only.
* Seahorse stores two entries, one containing the account password (right click
 properties shows signon-type: 1).
* The other entry appears to be urlencoded (right click properties shows
signon-type: 3).
* Unable to see from seahorse source code where signon-type is returned from or
what it suggests about the data stored (not a programming expert, did find the
approximate place in seahorse-gkr-item-properties.xml where the graphical
elements are defined, cannot see where the application gets the data though).
* Have attempted to urldecode the information stored, wasn't able to do this
completely cleanly, and due to security concerns will not paste the whole
string into this comment.
* However, basic layout of data stored appears to be:
Tokensrandom_string.apps.googleusercontent.com timestamp Py refresh_token
Token random_stringExpiry

A little research suggests this data may be being stored for use when creating
an OAuth token, see also:
http://code.google.com/p/google-mail-oauth2-tools/wiki/OAuth2DotPyRunThrough

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi,

What you're proposing sounds very similar to an upstream ticket we'd
like to fix at some point; please see
http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/3173 .

Although it hasn't been yet been timetabled, we will definitely take
your interest in having this into consideration as we think about
possible features for the next release.

[Bug 228422] Re: Rhythmbox doesn't deal sanely with multiple artist CDs

2012-10-25 Thread lachlan-00
I use album artist and plugin rhythmbox-fileorganizer.
https://launchpad.net/rb-fileorganizer

With multi artist albums I use various as the album artist and when
organised files can be set to use album artist if existing and then
artist as a fallback.

I haven't updated it in a while but if documented a bit more it would be
okay.

Don't have an iPod so I can't comment on that.

[Bug 316959] Re: Music folder appears twice in Rhythmbox

2012-10-25 Thread Andrew McCarthy
Removing the code as in comment #9 removes the Music entry from the
upper section. I can't determine where the list in the lower section is
generated, although the documentation
(http://developer.gnome.org/gtk/2.24/GtkFileChooser.html#GtkFileChooser.description)
suggests it can come from various sources. Perhaps somebody who
understands Gnome better can find it. Unless we can determine at runtime
that there is a duplicate entry, it may happen that bluntly removing the
code actually removes the only copy of that entry.

[Bug 1071561] [NEW] [sound-nua] Bluetooth device not listed if change mode to Off

2012-10-25 Thread Jimmy Newtron
Public bug reported:

I've accidentally changed the operation mode of my Bluetooth phone from
A2DP to Off, then the device is removed from the list.

Instead, it should be marked as disabled, and kept on list, so I could
reactivate it later.
To reactivate, I needed to install tdbtools, open tdb file that store this
settings (pulseaudio), then remove my device from records. After that, the
device was listed again on Sound Settings as A2DP sound output.

(massive ram use). Now nautilus is using ~40mb of ram and I can't
reproduce it. I've been allowing the software updater to do its thing
and I've restarted the machine a few times, so I'm unsure when it
corrected itself.
