FWIW, it isn't locking up on Hard, it just takes a really really long time while the GUI goes unresponsive. If I go do something else, and check back in 5-10 minutes, it has unfrozen. [Bug 875002] Re: choosing quit from unity launcher doesn't close rhythmbox if music is playing
I don't think it's necessary to keep the music playing when the window is closed. The only reason I can think of for this to have been decide originally is to reduce the amount of space that 'background' apps took up on the taskbar in pre-Unity Ubuntu. Now that Unity is here, we have a much more efficient way of managing active applications via the Launcher, and minimising it to there is unlikely to impact the user- experience since I believe the user is likely to already have locked the icon to the Launcher. I believe that the section on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoundMenu#compliance should be amended to remove the following passage A compliant player should also keep playing if you close its window while it is playing and that Rhythmbox should be patched to stop playing regardless of whether it was close or quit that the user selected. ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Assignee: Papercuts Ninja (papercuts-ninja) = Nick Tait (jnick-tait) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/875002 Title: choosing quit from unity launcher doesn't close rhythmbox if music is playing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/875002/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1071345] [NEW] empathy contacts list compact mode is missing in 3.6
Public bug reported: Prior to upgrading to quantal, Empathy had a compact mode for the contacts list. This would show each contact on a single line that was just tall enough to display the contact's username. This way, I would be able to use my high resolution monitor to view all of my online contacts simultaneously. Under Empathy 3.6 on quantal, the option for a compact mode disappeared and each contact in the list takes about 3 times the vertical space needed to display the contact's username. [Bug 1035219] Re: In System Settings preference tool/keyboard layouts page automaticaly wrong language selectedGNOME
Hello Mantas! Sure, I could try to build it locally. I don't know if that would make a difference with respect to the unnecessary files, though. Or you could fetch my branch at https://code.launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/gnome-control- center/bug-1035219 and build it yourself. However, I see another problem with this. If you would distribute a package named e.g. gnome-control-center_3.4.2-0ubuntu0.6~ppa, and since my proposed fix hasn't been accepted, that package would be replaced at next update of the gnome-control-center package, and the fix would get lost. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1035219 Title: In System Settings preference tool/keyboard layouts page automaticaly wrong language selectedGNOME To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/1035219/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

(though it doesn't look like it was modified) I've got a ~100gb collection. Also, if I start it with rhythmbox --rhythmdb-file=~/test.db it works, until it scanned enough of my ~/Music to start hanging again... [Bug 1069531] Re: Cannot login to Empathy after setting up Google online account
Could be missing something but believe the solution was: So the solution seems to be to remove an old Google Account that was configured with a(n application-specific) password and add a new one with OAuth2 using your regular password (+ phone code) and allowing Ubuntu to access your account. If so, doesn't that imply that a user would be forced to set-up 2-step verification if they were not using it already? What about users that don't have a phone to use with 2-step verification? From the instructions on Google, understand that you can generate an application specific password for Ubuntu and not require a phone, but what about other applications that involve a Google account; would you not require a phone for those? Is this a correct assessment - if not, please could you expand upon the solution? For info: * Removed all accounts, checked seahorse and ensured any stored information was removed. * Re-created the Google account only. * Seahorse stores two entries, one containing the account password (right click properties shows signon-type: 1). * The other entry appears to be urlencoded (right click properties shows signon-type: 3). * Unable to see from seahorse source code where signon-type is returned from or what it suggests about the data stored (not a programming expert, did find the approximate place in seahorse-gkr-item-properties.xml where the graphical elements are defined, cannot see where the application gets the data though). * Have attempted to urldecode the information stored, wasn't able to do this completely cleanly, and due to security concerns will not paste the whole string into this comment. * However, basic layout of data stored appears to be: Tokensrandom_string.apps.googleusercontent.com timestamp Py refresh_token Token random_stringExpiry A little research suggests this data may be being stored for use when creating an OAuth token, see also: http://code.google.com/p/google-mail-oauth2-tools/wiki/OAuth2DotPyRunThrough -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069531 Title: Cannot login to Empathy after setting up Google online account To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1069531/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Unless we can determine at runtime that there is a duplicate entry, it may happen that bluntly removing the code actually removes the only copy of that entry. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316959 Title: Music folder appears twice in Rhythmbox To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/316959/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Removing the code as in comment #9 just hides the real problem. [Bug 1071561] [NEW] [sound-nua] Bluetooth device not listed if change mode to Off
Public bug reported: I've accidentally changed the operation mode of my Bluetooth phone from A2DP to Off, then the device is removed from the list. Instead, it should be marked as disabled, and kept on list, so I could reactivate it later. To reactivate, I needed to install tdbtools, open tdb file that store this settings (pulseaudio), then remove my device from records. After that, the device was listed again on Sound Settings as A2DP sound output. [Bug 1069843] Re: Nautilus consuming memory and cpu
Though the program was slow to respond in any folder, it behaved in the same way as you describe in my photo folders. I should report that the problem seems to have rectified itself as nautilus seems to functioning correctly for me now. At first, nautilus was having trouble every time I opened it and the bug was reproduceable (massive ram use). Now nautilus is using ~40mb of ram and I can't reproduce it. I've been allowing the software updater to do its thing and I've restarted the machine a few times, so I'm unsure when it corrected itself. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069843 Title: Nautilus consuming memory and cpu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1069843/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
