2012-11-03 Thread HyperHacker
This is obviously not the right package, but I'm not sure what is...
hopefully somebody sees this and knows what to change it to.

[Bug 1074631] [NEW] Minimum brightness via slider turns backlight off [12.10][HP-Compq-6710b]

2012-11-03 Thread Leonard Peris
Public bug reported:

[Bug 1074669] [NEW] User interface crashes during debugging an android program (debugging on physical device) using Eclipse

2012-11-03 Thread Walter St
Public bug reported:

I am developing a program for android using eclipse. While debugging on
a physical android device using USB debugging, some \ unexcplicable
class-path errors occured which I was about to investigate. Shortly
thereafter the ubuntu user interface started to crash. System is still
running but windows flicker, menu bars disappear, the desktop background
is partially black. New windows are not correctly shown, sometimes only
a button of a message-window appears. when dragging the browser window
to the top it starts to flicker...

[Bug 1026058] [NEW] Applications Menu .desktop item with category Electronics creates an uneditable sub-menu Electronics

2012-11-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The Electronics sub-menu is not part of the current xfce-panel
applications menu, but any .desktop file with Category Electronics will
result in the Electronics sub-menu being displayed.

The problem is that this sub-menu cannot be edited (hidden or moved for
example) (without editing the .desktop file), because as far as the
current xfce-applications.menu file is concerned it doesn't (shouldn't)
exist.

To reproduce the problem simply add Category=Electronics to any .desktop
file.

[Bug 1074682] [NEW] Copying files from a Windows share fails randomly

2012-11-03 Thread Jussi Lind
Public bug reported:

I have about 16 GB of mp3 files on my Synology NAS configured as a
Windows share. When I try copy-paste the highest-level folder containing
all the files and album folders to my local hard drive, the copy process
dies after only a couple of subfolders have been copied. I tried this
also with a much smaller sets of folders and files and it still fails to

[Bug 1026058] Re: Applications Menu .desktop item with category Electronics creates an uneditable sub-menu Electronics

2012-11-03 Thread Lionel Le Folgoc
This Electronics submenu is not part of Xubuntu by default. You've
probably installed an extra package that provides a .menu in
/etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged/ (they will be automatically included
in the panel menu).

But indeed, it seems that alacarte doesn't support menu merging, that's
why it doesn't appear in the editor.

[Bug 862027] Re: System Settings Keyboard icon indistinct with Ambiance

2012-11-03 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I'm going to re-open this as I don't believe this was fixed correctly.
For the Ubuntu GNOME Remix, we want to get as pure of a GNOME experience
as possible. The fix that was applied in Oneiric changes the icon used
for the Keyboard panel.

From the original bug report, I believe we basically went with #3 but I
think #2 is what we want for raring. Specifically, upstream uses input-
keyboard for the icon but we patched it to use preferences-desktop-
keyboard instead.

[Bug 395967] Re: Play music from command line

2012-11-03 Thread Aaron Brubacher
As a workaround for playlists, I put this together for my startup:

#!/bin/sh
rhythmbox-client
sleep 10
listid=`dbus-send --type=method_call  --print-reply
--dest=org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.rhythmbox /org/mpris/MediaPlayer2
org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Playlists.GetPlaylists uint32:3 uint32:1
string:Alphabetical boolean:false | grep -o /.*0x[^\]*`
dbus-send --type=method_call --print-reply
--dest=org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.rhythmbox /org/mpris/MediaPlayer2
org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Playlists.ActivatePlaylist objpath:$listid

You can replace “uint32:3″ with the number (alphabetical) of the
playlist you want. this could be impoved to select by name as well

[Bug 1048059] Re: Adding ACLs to /media/$user does not work

2012-11-03 Thread David Shochat
I just tried the workaround suggested by Sebastian Heutling (on
2012-10-06) and others, of creating a directory whose name is my
username in /media, and this worked for me too. Now mounts of removable
media show up under that subdirectory instead of directly under /media.
Is this the new normal behavior for 12.10? If so, then the upgrade
processing should obviously create this subdirectory for all current
users. But I just tried creating a brand new account and no subdirectory
of /media for that username was created. So now I don't know what to
think.
